Chapter 14: The Wand
Harry unwrapped the red rope and unfolded the parchment, only to see that it read:
Dear Harry,
See the words as they are. You must have got a surprise tonight, right?
You know what? The first time I saw you at school, I recognized you as the famous Harry Potter of the wizarding world. The children of the wizarding world grew up listening to your name, and I am no exception. It is undeniable that I am more concerned about you for this reason, but please do not doubt the sincerity of the friendship between me and you, because at first I was only going to pay attention to you silently and did not want to interfere with your life. It was your sincerity, your bravery, your kindness, and your steadfastness that prompted me to approach you and make us good friends. I believe you can feel the sincere friendship between us, right? I hope our friendship will not be affected by my kind concealment.
You've received your offer of admission to Hogwarts, haven't you? We need to go to Diagon Alley to buy what the list asks for, I'll go to Diagon Alley tomorrow and ask Edward to bring me a letter if you need to come with us. If not, please tell me when you're going to Diagon Alley and I'll be there that day too.
Your faithful friend: Alan
Harry had mixed feelings at this moment, on the one hand, he was surprised that he could continue to study in the same school as Alan, and on the other hand, he was saddened that his best friend, who regarded him as a sibling, had hidden such a big secret from him. But as Alan said, whether people are genuinely interacting with each other can be felt, and Harry is more sensitive.
Harry asked Hagrid to borrow a pen and wrote directly at the back of the parchment:
Dear Alan,
I am very happy to continue my studies at the same school with you, and I believe that there must be a reason for you to hide the existence of the wizarding world, and our friendship will never change.
Hagrid (the key keeper at Hogwarts) will be sending me to Diagon Alley tomorrow to buy something, and we'll meet tomorrow to talk about it.
Your best friend: Harry
After writing the letter, Harry found that Hagrid had taken care of the owl very well and was feeding it corn kernels.
"I'm very good at taking care of animals, I keep a lot of animals at Hogwarts, and Dumbledore trusts me. Hagrid said proudly when Harry looked at him.
Harry walked over and held out the parchment, and Edward the Owl immediately stretched out his left leg and motioned for Harry to tie the letter up. Hagrid pushed open the window, and it was already calm, and there were even a few stars looming in the sky. Edward flapped his wings and flew into the night. With Alan's anticipation and Harry's joy, it became a bridge for the continuation of Harry and Ellen's friendship.
The next day, Mrs. Harris got up early to make breakfast and urged her family to get up.
"Hurry up, Lunn and Daisy, there's a lot to buy today!"
After breakfast, we went to Gringotts in Diagon Lane through the magic lamppost again, and after taking the gold coins, Mrs. Harris assigned tasks to several older children: "Lunn, you go buy all the medicines, Daisy and Daddy go buy books and crucibles, Alan, let's go buy wands, and then everyone meet at Lady Morkin's robe store, you all have to buy new uniforms, Lady Morkin is the best!"
Heading straight for Ollivanders, Alan had reason to suspect that Mrs. Harris was trying to save time so that she could pick up a little longer at Madame Morkin's shop.
Ollivander was small and broken, and the gold sign on the door had peeled off, and it read: Ollivanders, a well-made wand since 382 BC. In the dusty window, a wand sits alone on a faded purple cushion.
As they entered, there was a jingling bell from somewhere behind the store. The shop was small, with nothing but a bench. Thousands of long, narrow boxes piled up almost to the top of the ceiling, all of which should have been magic wands.
There were no other customers, and the store was extremely quiet, and Alan couldn't help but let go of his breath.
"Good morning, you are the first guests to arrive today. A soft voice said. An old man suddenly stood in front of Allen, looking at Allen with his large, light-colored eyes, and he seemed very happy.
"It's strange that people tend to go to other shops first and pick wands last," he said, "I can't understand what they think, for wizards, wands are the most important companions!" Ollivander complained.
"Dark purple-brown walnut, ten and a quarter of an inch long, is a particularly beautiful wand, and a good wand for spellcasting. I'm not mistaken, Mrs. Harris, long time no see!" Ollivander asked, turning abruptly to Mrs. Harris.
"Oh, of course, your memory is still as good as that. Although the same question had been answered three times, Mrs. Harris was willing to cooperate with Ollivander as a sign of respect for the master wandmaker.
"Remember, wax it often!" Ollivanders' gaze suddenly sharpened.
"Of course, of course, I love it very much. This is my youngest son, Alan, and I'm here to pick out a wand for him today. Mrs. Harris nudged Alan forward, quickly distracting Ollivanders.
"Oh, okay, Alan, let me see. He pulled out a long tape measure with silver scales from his pocket. "Which arm do you use to make your wand?"
"I'm used to using my right hand. Allen said.
"Put your arms up. Good. "The tape measure is actually automatic, first from the shoulder to the fingertips, then from the wrist to the elbow, from the shoulder to the floor, from the knee to the armpit, and finally the head circumference.
Ollivander shuttled from shelf to shelf, busily picking out some long boxes to move down.
"Alright. He said the tape measure slipped to the ground and rolled up. "So, Alan, try this one. Made of beech wood and snake nerves. Nine inches long. Yes, very flexible. You give it a try. “
As soon as Alan got his hands on it, he was snatched back by Ollivanders.
"Obviously not this one, try this one again, the red shirt wood with unicorn fur is very flexible. Alan took it in his hand and waved, and there was an explosion, and the window shattered.
"It's back to normal. Ollivander waved his wand calmly, and the shattered window was restored.
"Obviously not this one. "Ollivander asked Alan to try one after the other, but none of them seemed to fit perfectly.
Ollivander, who was still elated at first, already had beads of sweat on his forehead. "What a fussy customer. He thought about it for a moment, and went back to the back hall to bring out the box wrapped in bright yellow satin embroidered with a five-clawed golden dragon.
Just seeing the box, Alan looked forward to it. Without it, it is only because this five-clawed golden dragon is the symbol of the Chinese nation, and its majesty and magnificence are far from being comparable to the fire-breathing dragon in Western mythology.
"The material of this wand comes from the mysterious East, rosewood, the nerves of the white tiger. Ollivander discreetly pulled out the wand, which had a purple-red sheen and was made like rhinoceros horn.
Alan held the wand in his hand, a wonderful feeling rose in his heart, the wand seemed to become a part of his body, Alan turned his mind, and the tip of the wand was full of flowers, as if cheering for the encounter with Alan.
"It's amazing, you're going to have a great achievement, it's been almost half a century since this wand was made. You're the first wizard from the West to wield the wand of the East so handy. Ollivander stared at Alan with pale eyes, surprised, and Alan decided not to come to the shop if he didn't have to.
Twenty-seven Galleons were paid to Mr. Ollivander for the wand, and Mr. Ollivander bowed and sent them out of the store.
"Ding Dong, Invincible Xueba System Warm Tips: Do you want to make a unique, growable wand by yourself? As long as you complete the limited-time sudden mission, you can have a copy of "Mo Evil Experience" from the mysterious Oriental Alchemy Master. ”
