Chapter 7: Reka and Tamia

"I said Tamya, what the hell did you think Director Eden was crazy about?"

Detective Rekara tugged at the brim of his hat and squinted at the villas not far away, the charred ruins in the middle of the villas.

"Listen to the director's words, isn't this a matter of course."

Tamia said perfunctorily, not knowing whether to be sarcastic or complaining.

The two belonged to the City Patrol on Fifth and Sixth Streets, but they didn't expect to receive an order from the City Patrol this morning, and Director Eden put the two ace sheriffs together to investigate a Rausch forest fire.

"Tamya, I've heard from a friend about it, and it looks pretty good now."

Reka pushed open the door of the resort, and the staggered wooden villas dotted the gaps in the mountain springs, the bottom of which was rendered in a colorful way.

The springs flow along a man-made stone path into a huge reservoir in the middle of the resort, where the water is so clear that you want to take a dip.

"Oh."

Compared to Reka's enthusiasm, Tamya's answer was completely perfunctory.

After eating a closed door, Reka was not discouraged in the slightest, after all, this cold and glamorous police flower is prestigious, and he is still from a family of earls, so he should be cold.

After a brief conversation with the person in charge of the resort who came up, Reka said as if he was taking credit.

"Tamia, Tsunayoshi said we could stay here for free tonight."

"Thanks to the fire."

The reimbursement process for the City Patrol is extremely cumbersome, and it's a good thing to be able to avoid travel expenses.

Tamia nodded, and walked towards the villa where the fire had occurred.

Reka didn't dare to look at her directly, but observed Tamya's slender legs through the reflection of the pool water.

Tutan is on top, and the ratio of legs to body is simply against the sky.

If Tamia were to compete in a beauty pageant on Celebration Day, she would be a strong contender for the Black Queen.

Hey, hey, what are you thinking, Reka!

Reaching out and patting her cheek, Reka quickly followed Tamia's steps, pretending to wander through the ruins.

Standing at the original gate of the villa, Tamia said coldly.

"Don't go in."

Reka retracted his steps stupidly.

"I wasn't going to destroy the scene, but the scene was already destroyed, wasn't it?"

"That's not what I mean."

Tamia put her hands behind her back and looked deeper into the ruins.

"Miss, these logs will collapse at any time, and it's dangerous for you to stay in there alone."

Hearing Tamia's words, Reka lowered her head and looked at the ground with a sudden realization.

Footprints reflecting the sunlight were faintly visible on the charred floor, charcoal crumbs that had been compacted not long ago, the footprints were not large, and they must have been a woman.

With the screeching sound of the planks expanding and contracting, a girl in baggy overalls emerges from the burnt stairwell, and Reka notices that she is holding a newspaper in her hand.

Seeing the two of them, the girl didn't panic, but just raised the newspaper in her hand.

"Hey, don't you know the resort is locked down?"

Reka clasped her hands behind her back and shouted solemnly.

Of course, if this was in the downtown area of Sixth Street, he would have behaved more politely.

The girl raised the newspaper in her hand again and whispered.

"This morning's bounty order, those who see it have a share."

Noticing that the girl was hoarse, Tamia didn't break it, and she stepped inside, glancing at the newspaper.

It's about a bounty for finding the arsonist, but the publisher wants to investigate the cause of Merkel's death.

In order to dispel the girl's vigilance, Tamia pointed at herself and then at Reka, although she thought she was calm, there was still a hint of arrogance in her words.

"We're police officers from the City Patrol and we're here to investigate the wildfires, but don't worry, our City Patrol has an internal commendation process...... Reka. ā€

Tamia lengthened her voice, and turned to see Reka with her head down, her calf at the end of her gaze.

Tamia frowned, but not because of the dust on her calves, but because of the discomfort of being offended.

Reka didn't look away, continuing to stare at Tamia's calf, and then took the worn-out loose-leaf detective manual from her waist.

"The people from the Meteorological Bureau said it was a southerly wind that day."

Reka pointed to Tamia's feet, which were darker than the rest, and Tamia pursed her lips, but moved away.

Reka pointed behind him again and continued.

"Behind me is the north, and the wood here is almost burning. If it's really a wildfire, then your side should be burned to the ground, because it's south, so the report is right, there must be a fire in this house. ā€

Tamia looked up, as if thinking about something.

After a while, she whispered.

"Reka, I wonder why everyone thinks it's a murder, and who is influencing the starting point of our thinking?"

Reka spread her hands and said helplessly.

"The evidence doesn't deceive."

"That's not much evidence."

Tamia gestured to the top of her head.

"The outer walls of the wooden house are not used to bear weight, and these decorative planks can be easily burned, so as long as the fire is big enough, no matter which direction it blows in, the outer wall of the wooden house will be burned first, and the pitch black under my feet is better explained, anything can form such a shape."

"Tamia,"

His own speech was not taken seriously, and Reka hurriedly said.

"That's where Merkel's body was found."

Tamia said quickly.

"Can't Merkel climb here on her own? After he was swept away by a wildfire? ā€

These words made Reka speechless, and I don't know if it was revenge for his voyeurism just now.

After dealing with this vulgar man, Tamia glanced at her calf again, and there was indeed a black mark on it.

It just so happens that I can find an excuse to go down there and play in the water.

No, no, isn't there a girl in this room?

Tamia quickly raised her head, and after a while she found the girl standing beside her, her eyes blazing, her mouth slightly open, and she looked like a good student listening carefully.

Noticing Tamia's gaze, the girl quickly closed her mouth and hugged the newspaper tightly.

After all, Tamia's reasoning was against her, and it seemed that she didn't want to lose this hard-earned bounty.

"I—" The girl opened her mouth, her voice crisp.

She realized this and quickly lowered her voice.

"Can I go around somewhere else?"

Tamia hesitated for a moment, then nodded slowly.

"I have to stay with you, but for your safety."

The girl quickly lowered her head, not knowing if she was nodding or not.

After the two walked into the ruins, Reka touched her head inexplicably.

He vaguely heard someone calling him, but it was also possible that he was delusional.
