Chapter 19: Oats
After this farce was over, the silence of Advance Street returned to its former days.
I don't know when the lights in the office were turned off, and small voices came faintly from the darkness, and they spoke standard Ikrati Chinese.
"What's going on?"
"The robbers were smart, they split the hostages and their treasures in two, and only gradually released the hostages after they got out of Turin."
"Anything else you've discovered?"
β......β
CuarΓ³n was silent for a moment, as if doubting his own speculation, before speaking.
"Those guys are well-trained... Not ordinary people. β
Oreo rolled over in his chair and said angrily.
"It's just who it will be."
Caron couldn't answer the question, and seeing that Oreo didn't have any further thoughts, he jumped over the pile of clutter, huddled into the small bed, and quickly fell asleep.
Oreo was also haunted by a wave of sleepiness, but out of habit, he couldn't sleep in the first place.
Huddled in that chair, he muttered.
"What is the connection between precious treasures or precious secrets, unknown soldiers and senseless fires......
......
Because of the fog on the street, it was late in the morning.
Alarmed by the sound of CuarΓ³n going out, Oreo could no longer fall asleep, so he had to get up from his chair with two dark circles under his eyes.
Before he could come to his senses, the wooden door of the office was slammed open, and Tamia walked quickly to Oreo with two dark circles under her eyes.
Oreo struggled to open his eyes, muttering vaguely.
"What's the matter?"
"Of course."
Tamia looked around, and soon found a neatly arranged stack of books, and sat down on it.
"Aren't you suspicious of Kathu, I followed him last night."
After saying that, she stretched out her voice, as if she was waiting for Oreo to take the initiative to ask.
"I don't suspect Sheriff Kathu, that's the most extreme speculation."
Oreo quickly changed the subject, "So you found something last night." β
Tamia sniffed and looked in a certain direction of the room.
"What's that, how can it smell so good?"
Oreo turned his head to see the scent coming from the stove.
"My breakfast," he added, "if Sheriff Tamia doesn't dislike it......"
"There's nothing to dislike at this time."
Tamia ran to the pot, slashing the hot lid with her palm, and swallowing as she stared at its contents.
"I think CuarΓ³n went out to buy spoons."
Oreo spread his hands, "Sheriff Tamia, why don't you tell me about last night?" β
"Last night's... Suck and suck..."Tamia's attention was clearly on the food, "what is this, how can it smell so good?" β
"Oats boiled in milk."
Oreo raised an eyebrow, he seemed to have found Tamia's weakness and had to tell Reka this important information.
"Oats?"
Tamia frowned, she had never heard of this before.
Seeing Tamia's doubts, Oreo explained.
"An improved horse food."
"Horse food?"
Tamia's eyes widened, "Not human food?" β
Oreo really wanted to end the boring conversation, but Caron finally returned.
"Young Master, you're awake."
He greeted Oreo and turned to look at Tamia crouching by the fire.
Tamia turned her head and said angrily.
"Serve me a bowl."
......
In the long history of human development, there are always a few words that cannot be bypassed in every era, such as this time.
"It smells so good."
Tamia licked the milk from the corner of her mouth and said so.
Looking at her uncultivated appearance, Oreo really wondered if her count's grandfather had died young.
Patting her round belly, Tamia put her hands behind her back and said contentedly.
"Hey, how is this thing made, it's horse food and milk to boil, right?"
"It's improved horse food."
Oreo got up from behind the desk and rummaged through the utility room for a moment before pulling a small bag out of it.
Tamia kept an eye on Oreo's movements, and when he put the bag into her hands, she said in surprise.
"This is for me?"
Oreo nodded.
"Yes, ten gold coins."
β......β
If it weren't for the large sum of money she got from Oreo yesterday, Tamia would have beaten Oreo half to death and let the 10th Street City Patrol clean up the aftermath.
She slapped ten gold coins on the table and said unpleasantly.
"Deal."
"Thank you."
Accepting the coins, Oreo felt much better.
"Sheriff Tamia, tell me about last night."
"Last night," Tamia burped, "didn't the Redstone Clubhouse catch fire last night, and Kathu was calling for someone to put out the fire at first, but it was too big.
After making the isolation zone, everyone can only watch the Red Stone Club go to ashes in the fire. β
"......" tried to be polite, but Oreo couldn't help but remind.
"Miss Tamia, get to the point."
"I'm not done yet!"
Tamia rolled her eyes, "The fire was finally extinguished in the middle of the night, and I saw Katu sneaking around the ruins, looking for something like that...... That thing must be in the ruins. β
Oreo should be in harmony and listen.
"Later."
Tamia spread her hands.
"Then it was dawn, and the Red Queen's Club was in the center of Eighth Street, and there were people around him, and Kathu didn't want people to find out about his whereabouts, so he went back before dawn."
Oreo muttered, "Maybe there's some connection." β
Tamia said with wide eyes.
"Between what? What connection? β
"Nothing."
Oreo shook his head and picked up his coat from the back of his chair.
"Sheriff Tamia, without further ado, let's go over and have a look."
Tamia was stunned.
"Now?"
"Of course," Oreo nodded, "Sheriff Kathu won't give us too long. β
"Are you crazy?"
Tamia pointed outside, "If there's any secret there, it's daylight, if our whereabouts are discovered......"
"You won't be discovered."
Oreo said firmly, tucking his staff into his waist and motioning with his eyes for Tamia to follow him.
"It's really barefoot and not afraid to wear shoes." Tamia hurried to catch up with Oreo.
The two walked down the street for a while, and Tamia said coldly.
"If something happens that can't be solved, you have to owe me a personal favor."
"Sheriff Tamia."
Walking out of Tenth Street, Oreo tilted his head and asked curiously.
"Why did you come to me for such an important matter, don't you have any powerful subordinates?"
β......β
This question really stumped Tamya.
As the granddaughter of the Marquis, she was assigned to the Fifth Street City Patrol as soon as she graduated from the police academy, and those subordinates naturally did not like this woman who had robbed her of her job.
Those people said that Tamiya was not worth mentioning at all except that she was beautiful.
So not to mention her right-hand man, Tamia doesn't even have a friend to talk to.
Seeing through what Tamia was thinking, Oreo shook his head and moved on to another topic.
"Miss Tamia, you don't need to be surprised that you may encounter something beyond basic knowledge later."
The topic piqued Tamya's interest, and she looked around before lowering her voice.
"What's that?"
β......β
Oreo pursed his lips, "It doesn't matter, the important thing is that you don't make a fuss." β
"Hey!" Tamia stomped her foot, "Don't think you can tell me if I ask you for help, who do you think you are!" β
Oreo didn't answer her immediately, but put his top hat on top of his head, a smirk on his lips.
"Great Detective, Oreo Plavor."
