CHAPTER XX
"Boom!" With a loud bang, Gray slammed the door and left.
After stepping out the door of the villa, Gray let out a long breath. He stood there for a few seconds, then turned the corner and walked to Mrs. Ann's door next door.
Gray rang the doorbell, and after a few seconds, Mrs. Ann opened the door, and she saw that it was Gray, and without saying a word, moved her body to the side and let Gray into the house.
Gray walked familiarly through the hallway, made his way to the large leather sofa in the living room, and sat down, one elbow resting on the round armrest, and his knee reaching over the other.
Mrs. Ann made a cup of tea, handed it to Gray, and asked, "How is it?" ”
"Everything went well." Gray exhaled again, "I've just finished the last scene. ”
"They didn't suspect you at all?"
"Not at all—of course, not even suspicious of you."
"I guess they never dreamed we'd be husband and wife, did they?" Mrs. Ann said with misty eyes, her voice sticky.
Gray shrugged, "That's natural, they don't think about it at all. ”
Mrs. Ann walked up behind Gray, stretched out her hands, and hugged him from behind, "So, we succeeded. ”
Gray stretched out his left hand, stroked her arm gently, and said, "Yes, it worked, Angie, we have been carrying out this plan for a year - and finally the house has been sold. ”
Angie turned from behind Gray and sat down on another leather sofa chair next to him, sighing, "It's been a long process. ”
"No way, Angie." "The vast majority of people in the city know that the house is haunted. Not to mention this house, they wouldn't even dare to buy any other house in this neighborhood - if it weren't for the fact that you met these two outsiders a year ago and came up with this brilliant idea, I don't think we would have ever thought of selling this house for the rest of our lives.
"Don't say that, Gray, we both came up with the idea together."
"But you came up with this first: you go and get close to Dilly, and when you get acquainted, you tell her about the house, and tell her to approach me deliberately. And you pretend to cooperate with her, create the 'illusion' that this house is haunted, and 'force' me to sell the house at a low price - Anji, you are so smart, I am proud of you. ”
"Alright, Gray, just call me scheming, I won't mind." Angie shrugged her shoulders, "There's no way around it, if it weren't for this method to convince the two of them that the visions of this house were 'artificially made', would they dare to buy this terrible house?" ”
"Yes, they were now fully convinced that the house was haunted by their plan, that they had made it themselves—especially Dilly, who still thought that Kaz called at 3:15 p.m. every night because she drank her stimulant milk—how would she know that the picky eater never drank boxed milk, it only drank fresh milk. I had to go and pour out the bowl of milk every morning when I woke up, so that she would believe that Kaz had drunk it. ”
But tonight, she won't feel that way anymore, and she'll find that the vision of this house has nothing to do with what she's done before. Gray, guess what's going to happen tonight when they find out Kaz screaming again? ”
"I can't guess, and I don't want to." "Sooner or later, they're going to ask the rest of the city to find out the truth about the house — the real owner of the house, the poor woman with the red scar on her face, who killed herself decades ago, and whose soul has never been laid to rest and has been haunting the house." The most frightening thing is that her habit of going to the toilet at 3:15 does not seem to have changed after her death. Also, I think they're going to open that pantry and find that picture — think about how they would have reacted when they saw Katz in the picture and found out that he had lived for over forty years.
Angie pursed her lips and shook her head, "It's probably the same as the look on our face when we found out about this secret two years ago." “
After a moment of silence, Angie said: "When they find out about this, they may guess that it was the two of us who collaborated to deceive them, so as to think that your 'wife' Zhu Dan and the story about her are purely made up by you." ”
"So what?" "I sold the house, but I did it at the real estate exchange. If they found out that something was wrong, it would be too late - and they couldn't come up with any proof that we had conspired to deceive them. ”
"Well," said Angie, "we have the money now, and they can't do anything about us." ”
"Did they give you the $100,000 they promised you?"
"Yes, Shak gave it to me yesterday afternoon."
"Okay, now the 900,000 yuan from the sale of the house, plus your 100,000 yuan 'information fee'. The $1 million we used to borrow to buy this house is finally back. Gray raised an eyebrow.
Angie lowered her eyes and said slowly: "If at that time, we were not greedy for cheapness, and thought that this mansion from Nomi Owers was really cost-effective to buy for a million—how could we go to the bank to borrow a million......"
"Originally, we thought that as soon as we bought the house and auctioned it off, we could easily make millions of dollars - but who knows, this house turned out to be a haunted house! No one will live if you give it away! Gray said indignantly.
Anji shook his head helplessly: "Who told us that we had just come from out of town at that time, and we didn't understand the situation of this house at all, so we bought it rashly - fell for that couple!" ”
"Forget it," Gray sighed, "anyway, now that we've sold it the same way, we're finally not making a profit, and we're not going to lose anything, so we don't think about the stupid things we used to do." ”
Angie turned her face and looked at her husband with a look of pity, "It's a pity that you suffered, Gray." I want you to live in that haunted mansion and pretend that nothing happened every day......"
"Alright, don't talk about it," Gray raised his hand and interrupted Angie, who frowned, "What can I do, if I don't sell the house this way, the bank loan will not be repaid, and I will probably have to spend the rest of my life in prison!" Compared to that, my stay in that haunted house for a few days is nothing. ”
Angie reached over and took Gray's hand, saying, "It's all over, and we won't have to live in that house again." I quit the rented house in a moment and we moved out of this damn villa area to another cosy and lovely place. ”
Gray looked up with an expectant look in his eyes, "Yes, move out of this place - we'll get out of here now." ”
With that, they stood up from their leather chairs together.
"I'm going to pack my things." Angie kissed her husband and said excitedly.
Just as she turned around, Gray suddenly remembered something, and he asked, "By the way, Angie, did you come up with that 'breakfast' plan later?" Why didn't you discuss it with me beforehand? ”
Angie turned around, as if she didn't understand, and asked, "What 'breakfast' plan?" ”
"Didn't you make a deal with Dilly that while we were asleep, you would bring the cooked bacon, egg custard, and milk to the table in our dining room?"
Angie frowned, shook her head in confusion, and looked at her husband: "Gray, what are you talking about?" I don't understand. When did I do these things? ”
Gray stared at Angie with wide eyes for two or three seconds, his scalp tightened, and he realized what was going on.
"Those things...... Did that ghost really do it? Gray trembled and said to himself.
Angie stepped forward and asked confusedly, "What's the matter, Gray?" ”
Gray looked at her, finally lowered his gaze, and said, "It's nothing, let's go, Angie." Get out of here and never come back. ”
