Chapter III

When she woke up in the morning, Dee Li found that Gray was no longer around.

She looked up at the big wall clock facing the bed, eight fifty o'clock. Dee Li shrugged - it was clear that she was up too late, and Gray had already gone to work.

She got dressed, washed up, and walked down from the second-floor bedroom. Today was a fine day, and the glow of the autumn sun was projected through the windows onto the floor of the living room.

Dilly walked to the dining room, thinking about what to cook for herself.

Pushing open the sliding glass door of the dining room, Deli was stunned for a moment—on the dining table, there was a glass of hot milk, a plate of fried bacon, and a bowl of egg custard.

Dee Li smiled. Gray was so considerate - he actually made such a hearty breakfast for himself before going to work.

She sat down and began to taste Gray's craft.

When the first slice of fried bacon was put in her mouth, Dee Li raised her eyebrows in surprise – it tasted so delicious!

She couldn't help but wonder that Gray hadn't cooked before, but Deeli always laughed at him for "making food that kills a horse." Why was the breakfast he made so delicious today?

Dee Li tasted another spoonful of egg custard, and she was amazed again - this bowl of egg custard tasted even better than fried bacon!

Could it be that Gray secretly practiced his cooking skills in order to allow himself to eat a delicious breakfast? Thinking of this, a warm current passed through Di Li's body.

She put another slice of bacon in her mouth. Chewing and chewing, Dilly began to pay attention to a question - what kind of bacon made of animal meat was this, so delicious?

She began to tilt her head and savor it. Pork? No, pork doesn't have such a delicate taste; Beef? It doesn't seem to be, I'm all too familiar with the taste of beef. So what is it......

Thinking about it, Deli suddenly realized - why didn't she see the Scottish dog Kaz after getting up for so long?

Confused, she stood up and opened the window of the diner to look into the garden at the door, but found no Kaz.

Deli frowned, she left the dining room and walked towards the bathroom on the second floor, her steps unconsciously quickening.

Opening the bathroom door, Deli breathed a sigh of relief - Kaz was lying in her warm kennel, sleeping motionless on her stomach. The sound of Deli opening the door woke Kaz from its slumber, and it looked up at Deere.

Dee Li hurriedly closed the door.

Turning around, Dilly knocked herself on the head - early in the morning, cranky!

She returned to the dining room, finished the rest of the breakfast, and put away the dishes, then walked to the living room on the first floor and sat down on the sofa.

After thinking for five minutes, Dee Li was ready to put the job search aside for now. This morning should go to the supermarket first to buy some fresh food and household items.

So, she quickly changed into her outing shoes and left the house. Before heading out, she checked her purse — the key to the house was inside.

Walking along the open roads of this villa area, Deli observes the beautiful surroundings. The area is very green, has all the public facilities, and is very clean away from the hustle and bustle of the city – it is really the perfect place to live.

But for some reason, Dilly's mood was always a little gloomy - the place looked perfect, but she always felt as if something was missing. She didn't know where that feeling came from.

After walking for about ten minutes, Deli slowly stopped, and she somewhat understood what was wrong.

From the time she walked out the door until now, she was the only one on this road, and she didn't see any other passers-by! Moreover, the houses in this row of villas are all closed gates, and it seems that no one lives at all. Deli finally figured out what was missing in this place - anger.

Dellie looked around suspiciously, and it was only then that she realized that it was eerily quiet. When she stopped, all she could hear was her own breathing.

Deeli frowned and began to remember. When she came to the neighborhood yesterday afternoon, it seemed that she had not seen any other passers-by or neighbors. It was only because Gray was talking to herself all the way that she didn't feel the intense coldness she felt today!

Thinking about it, Dili felt a little scared. She opened her legs and trotted down the road, how she wished she could run into a passerby or two, or a postman on a bike, or even an old lady picking up trash!

After running for six or seven minutes, it was not until Deli left the villa area and turned a corner into another street that she finally saw some pedestrians, and saw the ordinary street scene of daily life.

Di Li calmed down a little, and she said to herself repeatedly: Maybe it was too coincidental that the people in that residential area went to work early in the morning to make it so deserted. Thinking of this, she felt a lot better.

When Dee Li arrives at the largest supermarket in the neighborhood and blends in with hundreds of people, her mood finally brightens. Deli picks up meat, vegetables, milk, eggs in the supermarket market......

After shopping, Deli walked out of the supermarket with a few large plastic bags, and she hailed a taxi and told the driver where she was going.

Sitting in the car, Dee Li looked at her watch, it was close to twelve o'clock in the afternoon.
