Chapter 187: Zen
After hearing this, Su Ling was slightly puzzled, "Is there anything else?" Why didn't I hear what it meant? It might have been fine if I had listened to a fairy tale, and fables didn't just do that. ”
Ye Yingchen covered his forehead lightly, "That's why you don't have a fate with the Buddha......" As early as when I first saw Su Ling, I thought that this thing had some fate with the Buddha, who knew that it was a fool......
Second story:
Two monks traveled and encountered a river on the way; I saw a woman who wanted to cross the river, but she didn't dare to do so. It turned out to be a widow in the village, afraid of being criticized for getting her clothes wet. A monk took the initiative to carry the woman across the river, then dropped the woman and continued on his way with another monk.
Another monk couldn't help muttering all the way: The monk dared to carry a woman across the river? I walked all the way, thought all the way, and finally couldn't help it, and said: You broke the vows, why did you carry a woman?
The monk sighed: I have already let go, but you still can't let go! The gentleman is frank, and the villain is often related. Life is like a suitcase, lift it when you need it, and put it down when you don't use it. When it's time to put it down, but not putting it down, it's like dragging heavy luggage, unable to feel comfortable. Broad-minded, open-minded, and able to take and put down when encountering problems, in order to maintain a healthy mentality forever.
And there was an old carpenter who was about to retire. The boss was reluctant to let him build another house before leaving. Although the old carpenter agreed, his heart was no longer on the work, and he used poor materials and rough work.
When the house was built, the boss said that this was his gift to the old carpenter for his retirement, to thank the old carpenter for his contribution over the years. The old carpenter did not expect that it was his own house, and he was ashamed and regretful.
Su Ling chuckled when he heard this, "I know this, don't worry about being a person and doing things, it's yourself who is more annoying." In fact, everything in life is done for yourself, and you must do your best if you want to do it. Be a clean person and do things from beginning to end, right? ”
Ye Mingsheng raised his eyebrows when he heard this, "What?" After listening to two stories, you are enlightened? ”
"Is it hard to get the hang of it? I've heard this story before, my mother told it to me, and although I don't understand the meaning of it, I remember what she said. ”
Ye Yingchen: "......" Sure enough, his expectations are still too great, and with Su Ling, he has to memorize even the truth......
On dog days, the grass in the temple was a large yellow patch, which was ugly.
The little monk couldn't look past it, and said to the master, "Master, quickly scatter some seeds!" ”
The master said: "Don't worry, at any time." ”
When the seeds arrived, the master said to the little monk, "Go and plant them." Unexpectedly, a gust of wind arose, and it scattered a lot and blew away a lot.
The little monk said to the master anxiously: "Master, many kinds of seeds have been blown away. ”
The master said, "It doesn't matter, the net that is blown away is empty, and it can't sprout if it is sprinkled, so it is casual." ”
Just after sowing the seeds, a few small birds flew in and ate in the soil. The little monk hurried to chase away the birds, and then reported to the master: "Oh no, the seeds have been eaten by the birds." ”
The master said, "What's the hurry, there are too many seeds, you can't eat them all, you can meet them." ”
In the middle of the night, there was a violent storm. The little monk came to the master's room and said to the master with a crying voice: "It's all over now, the seeds have been washed away by the rain." ”
The master replied: "Rush it, rush it, it will sprout wherever you rush, and follow the fate." ”
A few days passed, and a lot of new green grew on the once bare ground, and even small seedlings poked their heads out of the places that had not been sown. The little monk said happily: "Master, come and see, they have all grown." ”
The master was still calm and said, "It should be so, rejoice." ”
One night, when he returned to his hut after a walk on the forest path in the bright moonlight, a Zen master who practiced in the mountains was greeted by a thief, who was afraid of alarming the thief and waited for him at the door......
The thief could not find anything of value, and when he turned to leave, he met the Zen master, and when he was in a panic, the Zen master said, "You have come all the way to visit me, but you must not let you go back empty-handed!" As he spoke, he took off his coat and said, "It's cold at night, you can take this dress and go." ”
After saying that, the Zen master put his clothes on the thief, and the thief was at a loss for what to do, and slipped away with his head down.
The Zen master looked at the thief's back and said with emotion: "Poor man, I wish I could send you a bright moon!" ”
The next day, when the warm sun shone on the hut, the Zen master pushed open the door and saw that the coat that had been draped over the thief the previous night was neatly folded in the doorway. The Zen master was very happy and muttered, "I finally gave him a round of bright moon ......"
One day, when Master Wude was hoeing grass in the courtyard, three believers came up to him and saluted him, saying, "People say that Buddhism can relieve the pain of life, but we believe in Buddhism for many years, but we don't feel happy, what is going on?"
Zen Master Wude put down his hoe, looked at them serenely and said, "It is not difficult to be happy, you must first understand why you are alive." ”
The three devotees, you look at me, I look at you, and they didn't expect that the Wude Zen Master would ask them questions.
After a while, A said, "No one can die!" Death is terrible, so people have to live. ”
B said, "I am working hard now so that when I am old, I can enjoy a life full of grain and children and grandchildren." ”
C said, "I don't have as much hope as you have. I must live, or who will feed the family?"
Zen Master Wude smiled and said, "No wonder you don't get happiness, all you think about is death, old age, forced labor, not ideals, beliefs, and responsibilities." Of course, life without ideals, beliefs, and responsibilities is very tiring and tiring. ”
The believers said disapprerovingly: "It is easy to talk about ideals, beliefs, and responsibilities, but you can't eat them as food!" Zen Master Wude said, "Then what do you say you can be happy?"
A said, "With fame, there is everything, and you can be happy." ”
B said, "With love, there is happiness." ”
C said, "If you have money, you can be happy." ”
Zen Master Wude said, "Then let me ask a question: Why do some people have fame but are very troubled, love but very painful, and money but very worried?"
The believers were speechless.
"Lotus Sutra: Parables" cloud: "There is no peace in the Three Realms, just like a house of fire." The multitude is full of suffering, and it is terrible, and there are always sorrows and sorrows of birth, old age, sickness, and death, and it is like waiting for the fire, which burns endlessly. "Therefore, there is the belief of being disgusted with the five turbidities and rejoicing in the Pure Land!
There is a metaphor of "two rivers and white roads" in the "Four Posts of the Meditation Sutra" by the master of good guidance: a man went west, but saw that there were two bottomless rivers on the road, one side was the river of fire, and the other was the river of water, and there was a "white road" between the water and fire.
Disturbed by the waves and flames of the rivers of fire and water, this traveler wanted to go west, but happened to encounter the pursuit of the thieves of the evil beasts, and he thought that now he would die when he turned back, stopped in the middle of the white road, and died when he walked into the river, so he had to walk on this "white road".
When he walked on this "white road", he heard someone on the east bank behind him shouting: "Benevolent! But I decided to find this way! There will be no death! ”
Then he heard someone in the west bank calling to him: "Thou shalt be righteous with thy heart!" I can protect you, and you will not be afraid to fall into the trouble of fire and water. ”
Pedestrians are encouraged to go straight to the West Bank, where they will be free from all difficulties forever, and they will see each other with good friends and rejoice.
Master Shandao said that the east bank is a metaphor for our fire house in the five turbid and evil worlds, the west bank is the treasure country of bliss, and the two rivers of water and fire refer to the "greed and love like water, hatred like fire" of sentient beings, and the white path is like the kindness of sentient beings, although it is small, it is the way to liberation. And the group of thieves chasing and calling is evil friends who speak in vain and confuse each other.
Fortunately, there is Shakyamuni who came here to encourage pedestrians to move forward, and Amitabha Buddha was compassionately summoned in the West, if you can believe in the will of the two world-honored people, you can meet the Buddha, what a precious cause for great events!
When you encounter a dilemma on the road of life, think from a different angle, and you may understand: the side of the road is still the road.
A Zen master was on a journey and met someone who didn't like him. For several days the man tried every means to slander him.
Finally, the Zen master turned around and asked the man, "If someone gives you a gift and you refuse to accept it, who does it belong to?" The man replied, "It belongs to the one who gave the gift." ”
The Zen master smiled and said, "That's right. If I don't accept your abuse, then you're scolding yourself. ”
The Zen master asked: Do you think a grain of gold or a pile of mud is better? The seeker replied, of course, gold! The Zen master smiled and said, "What if you are a seed?" In fact, if you change your state of mind, maybe you will be liberated!
There was a Zen master who had a disciple who loved to complain. One day, the Zen master put a handful of salt into a glass of water and asked the disciple to drink, and the disciple said, "It's so salty that it's bitter." The Zen master sprinkled more salt into the lake and let the disciples taste the water again. After drinking it, the disciple said, "Pure and sweet." The Zen master said: The suffering of life is salt, and its saltiness depends on the container in which it is contained. Would you rather make a glass of water or a lake?
If you are thirsty, water is heaven; If you are tired, the bed is heaven; If you fail, success is heaven; If you are miserable, happiness is heaven; If you are lonely, love is heaven; If you are trapped, it is far away from heaven; If there is no one, there will be no other; Heaven is the ultimate of hell, and hell is the corridor of heaven; Ninety-nine of the losers are gone, and only one of the winners is gone.
The little monk sat on the ground and cried, and there were written waste all over the ground. "What's wrong?" The old monk asked.
"It's not good to write." The old monk picked up a few and looked at them: "It's well written, why throw it away?" Why are you crying? "I just don't think so."
The little monk continued to cry, "I'm a perfectionist, and I can't be wrong at all. "The question is, who in the world is not good at all?" The old monk patted the little monk, "You have to be perfect in everything, if you are not satisfied at all, you will get angry and cry, this is not perfect." ”
The little monk picked up the paper on the ground and washed his hands first; Then he looked in the mirror and washed his face; I took my pants off again and washed them over and over again.
"What are you doing here? You've been wasting half a day washing and washing. The old monk asked.
"I'm clean!" The little monk said, "I can't tolerate a little dirty, haven't you noticed?" After each donor left, I wiped down the chair he had been sitting on. ”
"Is this called cleanliness?" Master smiled, "You are dirty, dirty, dirty, and dirty, although you are clean on the outside, you are sick on the inside, and you are unclean." "The little monk wanted to go to the fate, so he specially picked a shabby dress to wear.
"Why did you pick this one?" Master asked. "Didn't you say you don't have to care about appearances?" The little monk was a little unconvinced, "So I found a shabby dress."
And in this way, the donors will sympathize and give more money. "Are you going to turn into a relationship, or are you going to beg?" Master's eyes widened, "Do you want people to see you pitiful and provide for you?" Or do you want people to see that you are promising, and to transform tens of millions of people through you? ”
To be perfect is to seek perfection in this world; Cleanliness is to help every unclean person and make him clean; Turning into a relationship is to make people's hands hold hands, help each other, and make all sentient beings have good karma, as for the Zen temple, it is not necessarily in the mountains and forests, but should be in the world. North, south, west, and east are all places where I propagate the Dharma.
