The Paris Affair Chapter 4: The Taste of First Love (1)
Madame Roland's salon was lively every day.
"Now, I heard that Miss Elsa has opened a nice new cake shop, shall we go over and take a look?" Early in the morning, Elena said with great interest.
"Cake !!" There must be something delicious, and Anna's eyes immediately sparkled with excitement.
"Uh-huh, I heard that business is pretty good."
"I'm going! I'm going!" Anna was eager to take the plunge.
"Now, Bella, why don't you go and try it too?"
"Ah, I saw it."
Bella was sitting on the couch reading this morning's paper, and although the headline was a recent burglary at the Louvre, there was an ad for Miss Elsa's cake shop in the sidebar.
"Give you the taste of first love, and leave sweet memories."
ββThe concise and bright advertising slogan is full of enticing atmosphere, which makes people involuntarily think of the deliciousness of cakes.
"It's a contagious ad, but ......," Elena suddenly asked, "Is first love really that good?"
"Well...... Bella, too, was also nerve-wracked, "You ask me, I don't know." Perhaps......
"I really don't understand, why do you want to connect with 'first love'."
"Perhaps, you want to give people a feeling of nostalgia, right?"
"Huh? Is it? Miss Lovely Elsa, this is a new shop, right? Why do you have a feeling of nostalgia?"
"This...... This one...... Maybe it's something special?" Bella tried to come up with an explanation.
"Well...... "Elena," she said, "Well, whatever kind of first love and late love it is, let's go and see, shall we?" Idle is idle anyway."
On the whim of Elena, and with Anna's strong support, Bella had no choice but to agree.
The three of them left Madame Roland's salon together.
Miss Elsa's cake shop is a small shop on the banks of the Seine. Although the store is not large, it still costs a lot of money due to the beautiful scenery and geographical location.
By the time Bella and the others arrived, the store already had a lot of customers.
Miss Elsa saw her three friends coming, and immediately ran out from behind the counter.
"I didn't expect you to come here in person." Elsa said happily, "I'm going to send some to everyone at the salon too."
"When we heard about the opening of the new store, we came over to cheer on it." Elena smiled and said, "How's it going, isn't it hard?"
"Actually, it's fine, with Mr. Cress' help. I'm basically just doing some light cashiering."
"Mr. Cress? Is that the new cake chef you mentioned earlier?"
"yes, that's right." Elsa nodded, "Mr. Kress is very good at baking, you must try it. Quick, sit inside."
With that, Elsa invited the three of them into the store.
"But Elsa, why do you want to open a cake shop?" Elena asked curiously, "You're not short of money."
"That's because it's been a dream I've had since I was a child!" Elsa said.
"Oh? Have you had it since you were a child?"
"Yes," Elsa nodded, "It all started with a little incident from more than a decade ago."
Elena suddenly became interested.
"I remember that year, I was only five years old, and I lived with my parents in my hometown of Lyon." Elsa began to speak, "At that time, my governess, Miss Vera, was a very serious person and very demanding of me. Every day, except for reading and writing, I practice the piano, and I don't have any time to play. Then one day, I couldn't take it anymore, so I sneaked out while she was dozing. Originally, just because he was angry, he ran out of the house alone and hid in the nearby woods. So, it's easy to get lost. You think, I was only a five-year-old child, and I rarely went out, and I was lost in the woods alone, lonely and afraid, and then my stomach was rumbling with hunger, so I sat aggrieved and cried under the tree. Crying all the time, that's a sad heart, I really regret that I shouldn't have run around without permission, and I shouldn't have listened to Miss Vera. Just when I was about to despair, a teenager appeared."
"Wow! What kind of teenager?"
"Ah...... I don't remember what it looked like. However, he was dressed modestly and very neatly, and held a piece of chestnut cake in his hand. "Give." He just said it simply. I was so hungry that I couldn't care so much, so I took the cake and devoured it. Then he took me out of the woods and said to me, 'Cake is something that brings happiness. If you encounter something unhappy in the future, you can eat a little bit and you can be happy!" And then he didn't know where he went."
"And then?" Elena asked eagerly.
"Ah, I never saw him again." Elsa replied.
"ββ?
Elena instantly showed a disappointed expression.
"Anyway, I'm grateful to him." Elsa said.
"Is that what you say, 'the taste of first love'?" Elena remembered the advertisement she had seen in the newspaper earlier.
"It's just to attract customers." Elsa said shyly, "That sounds romantic, doesn't it?"
"That being said, first love is often bitter and usually fruitless, right?" Elena said.
"I guess it's 'green', right? And I don't think my first love will end in vain."
"So, Elsa, you have always refused to let your family arrange family affairs, could it be that you did it to wait for the young man at the beginning?"
"Uh-huh, exactly." Elsa nodded earnestly.
"But Elsa, I understand how you want to open a store. However, if you want to wait for your first love, I really don't dare to agree." Elena shook her head, "Maybe people have forgotten about you?"
"How so?"
"Think about it, he was older than you back then, right?"
"Well, it looks like he's a few years older than me."
"So, he's estimated to be in his twenties now, and normal boys should start a family. Maybe the son's family already has a wife?"
"This ...... It's ......," Elsa felt a little frustrated, "no...... Wouldn't it?"
"It's super good!" Elena said confidently, "Otherwise, if he's still single, why doesn't he come to you?"
"This ...... Also...... Maybe he forgot?"
"It's not so much that they forgot, it's that people don't pay attention to it at all." Elena said with a heartfelt voice, "Did you tell him that you were waiting for him?"
"I...... Nope."
"So, to sum up, it's just your wishful thinking, and people don't take you seriously at all." Elena concluded.
"Yes...... But ......."
"It's nothing good, let's face it, Elsa, stop holding that unrealistic fantasy."
