The Living Buddha said that the original purification ritual was when the men of the tribe returned from a campaign or hunting, the old people and women of the tribe burned a bunch of cypress branches and herbs in the neighboring tribes, and constantly sprinkled water on the men returning from the expedition or hunting to dispel the filth brought by the return of the battle or hunting.

Later, this ritual of purification was gradually combined with the worship of the gods, especially the worship of the god of war, prayers for victory in war, and the safety of the tribe. ”
