Introduction to Chinese opera
【Peking Opera】
Peking Opera is the most popular and influential opera in China. It is developed by the convergence and integration of a variety of local operas in Beijing. It has a history of about one hundred and forty years from its inception to the present.
Since Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, Kunqu Opera, Yiyang Cavity, Qin Cavity and so on have entered Beijing successively. In 1790, Gao Langting, a famous artist from Anhui Province, led the famous Hui Opera "Sanqing Class" into Beijing and was warmly welcomed by the audience. Later, there were three Hui classes of "Four Happiness", "Chuntai" and "Hechun" into Beijing, and the "Sanqing Class" were collectively called "Four Great Hui Classes", which was very prosperous. At this time, Kunqu opera and Beijing dialect (Yiyang dialect evolved after entering Beijing).· Qin Yan and the others gradually fell into the cold. Around 1830, Hubei Chu Opera (Han Opera) also entered Beijing, and Han Opera and Hui Opera came from the same source, so they were often performed in groups, and the vocal cavity was combined with each other. Later, the Hui class absorbed and dissolved the essence of Kunqu Opera, Bangzi and Beijing dialect, and reformed the repertoire, music, figure, costumes, and makeup, and combined with the local language and customs of Beijing, Peking Opera was gradually formed. At that time, it was called "Pi Huang", also known as "Beijing Tune".
Around 1850, Peking Opera had a new development on the basis of the four major Hui classes, and famous actors such as Cheng Changgeng, Yu Sansheng, and Zhang Erkui appeared. They have made outstanding contributions to the formation and development of Peking Opera art.
Compared with other operas, the art of Peking Opera highlights the characteristics of concentration, generalization and exaggeration of opera, forming a complete system and unified style of singing, doing, reciting and playing, and is rich in distinctive dance and strong sense of rhythm in stage performance.
Over the past 100 years, famous Peking Opera performers have emerged one after another, especially many outstanding performing artists, forming different styles of genres, making significant contributions to the development of Peking Opera art and becoming a precious wealth of Peking Opera art.
After the liberation, the art of Peking Opera made great achievements. He has organized, adapted and created a large number of excellent traditional repertoire and new historical plays, and successfully performed many modern repertoire, opening up the way for the development of Peking Opera. The Peking Opera Art Delegation has also visited and performed abroad many times, causing a sensation in the world art scene.
