CHAPTER XIII
After bidding farewell to Ted and the others, Henry and Ashley left the roof one after the other.
As he descended the stairs, Henry decided to search all the floors of the building. On the one hand, in order to ensure the safety of the two, on the other hand, replenish the supplies.
"Why didn't you choose to leave with Ted?"
Henry walked aimlessly in front, followed by Ashley.
"I said, I'm going to stay and look for my uncle."
Ashley's tone was cold, and his mood didn't seem to have recovered.
"Don't think I'm talking badly, your uncle might... Probably already..."
Henry looked a little embarrassed, although he did not finish his words, but the meaning was already overflowing.
"Well, it's okay. But I'm sure my uncle isn't dead yet, he's not the kind of person who can be easily defeated. ”
When Ashley said this, there was a hint of hope in his eyes.
"But, in that case... Hush! There's movement! ”
Henry didn't seem to want to give up trying to persuade Ashley, but before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a noise.
He hurriedly squatted down and pressed Ashley down with his right hand, who was walking behind him.
Henry listened for a while, but did not find the source of the sound.
He had just wanted to get up when suddenly a rat sprang out of the corner. Henry was startled by the rat and almost pulled out his gun.
"Holy shit, this damn rat. Oh, it's okay, it's just a mouse, don't be afraid. ”
Henry cursed in a low voice, and he didn't forget to comfort Ashley behind him when he was frightened.
"Ahem, are you taking your hands off?!"
Ashley's slightly "angry" voice came from behind Henry.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I... I didn't mean to..."
Henry looked back and saw that his hand was actually on Ashley's chest. Impartial, just placed in a particularly awkward position.
He quickly withdrew his hand and apologized again and again.
Ashley, however, didn't say a word, left a cold snort, and walked past Henry in front of him.
Henry patted his head in remorse, and then followed behind Ashley.
After an hour of searching, the two of them have gained a lot. Not only did they find a lot of food, but they also found three pistols and some bullets.
The building where Henry and Ashley work is an office building, and most of the people who work here are ordinary people, so few people have guns. However, there is a lot of food and water, at least enough for two people to eat for a few days.
The two of them, who were already hungry, decided to rest in place first, eat something before continuing down.
Although Ashley had not used a pistol before, under Henry's guidance and actual combat practice, his marksmanship was still in the past.
For the woman Ashley, Henry is still relatively satisfied.
When cleaning up the zombies on the floor, Ashley was so uncomfortable at first that he didn't even dare to fire a gun.
However, as the zombies killed more and more, she seemed to have no fear, and even enjoyed the pleasure of killing.
Henry handed Ashley a looted pistol, a semi-automatic pistol.
It turned out that the bullet she was holding in her hand had already been fired, and since there was no bullet that could be replaced, she had to throw it away.
Ashley took the pistol and played with it in his hand, looking like the new gun.
Henry put away the remaining two guns and glanced at Ashley, a little worried.
"What's your uncle's name? You can see that you must love him very much. ”
After resting, the two began to continue walking down the floor, and Henry also walked in front of him gentlemanly.
"His name is Jimmy, and he's been taking care of me since I was a kid and treating me like his own daughter. So I can't leave him alone, I must find him! ”
Ashley seemed to sink into the memories, and those days spent with his uncle gradually came to light.
"I can feel that your relationship must be good, but in that case, he probably won't be able to get through it..."
Henry couldn't bear to hit Ashley, so he could only tactfully persuade her to give up looking for her uncle.
"I never asked you to come with me, and I can get my uncle back myself."
Ashley's tone changed suddenly, with some strength and a little disappointment.
"That's not what I meant... Now it's just the two of us, can't we huddle together to make a fire? ”
Henry sensed that Ashley's mood was wrong, so he quickly said good things.
"I watched from the window for a long time. It was the place where my uncle was attacked, and I didn't see any trace of my uncle. Even if he became that kind of thing, I didn't see him around, can you understand? He must have fled..."
Ashley calmed down and paused before explaining.
"Well, since you're so sure. Then I'll go with you, and I'll go out to execute it anyway..."
Henry almost missed his mouth, so he hurried to stop.
"Execution? What to perform? ”
Ashley was a little confused.
"Oh no, nothing... Let's go..."
Henry was afraid that Ashley would find something, so he changed the subject.
Before Henry could take a few steps, a door in front of him suddenly opened. A zombie came out of it and entangled Henry at once.
This zombie should be a "fish that slipped through the net", and it was not discovered before. Henry, who was entangled by zombies, originally wanted to pull out a gun and shoot, but suddenly Henry was not prepared at all.
The zombie's strength was so great that he could barely hold his two hands against its neck to prevent it from biting him.
Just as Henry was trying to pull out his hand and draw his gun, there was a "bang" of gunshots. The zombie fell to the ground, and Henry, who was almost exhausted, collapsed on the ground.
Ashley blew the smoke coming out of the muzzle of the gun and "handsomely" retracted the gun. Then without even looking at Henry, who was sitting on the ground, he walked past him and walked away.
Henry felt despised by Ashley, and his pride took a hit.
He jerked up from the ground and patted the dust off his buttocks. Although the mood was a little unhappy, he still followed with a "hum".
It didn't take long for Henry and Ashley to return to the second floor, where they had been before.
There is no change here compared to before, but the people are gone. Through the glass windows, you can see that there are a lot fewer zombies on the street, and I don't know where to go.
Henry was surprised, so he went to the window to check what was going on.
It doesn't matter if you don't look at it, you were startled, it turned out that those zombies were not gone, but surrounded the whole building.
Henry guessed that the gunshots in the building had attracted them, so they gathered around.
Seeing this situation, Ashley also looked sad. The number of zombies downstairs seems to be quite a lot, probably one or two hundred.
She was a little worried, worried that she had an accident before she found her uncle.
Henry and Ashley stood by the window, their brows furrowed, their hopes of getting out alive were slim.
But to make matters worse, the zombies are constantly pounding at the cabinets blocked in the stairwell, and it seems that these obstacles will not last long...
