Chapter 216: That Mysterious Voice Nine

"In the forest of Sara, the Buddha gave his disciples one last teaching. The Buddha said to live for yourself and not rely on others. Illuminate yourselves, illuminate thy teachings, and do not follow other pagan doctrines.

Think about it, our bodies, they're all filthy. Think about it, our lives are so short. Think about it, everything in the world is impermanent. Just follow my teachings and you will all be liberated. My teachings deserve to be remembered forever, they are eternal treasures, and if you follow my teachings, you will always be happy.

The gist of my teachings is that you should surrender your hearts and turn away from greed. Keep yourself on the right track, keep your heart pure, and keep yourself faithful. Remember, physical life is short. If you can think like that, you can be free from greed, from afflictions, from unkindness.

When you find yourself tempted by greed, you must surrender yourselves. Be masters of your own hearts, not slaves of your hearts. The demon of greed is always looking for an opportunity to deceive your hearts. If there is a poisonous snake that lives in your house and you want to have peace, you must first expel it. You must expel the viper of greed from your life, and you must protect your heart.

You must know that a person's mind can make a person a Buddha, and it can also make a person an animal. Enlightenment becomes a Buddha. Obsessed. So you must surrender your heart and do not let it go astray from the right path. Follow my teachings, do not argue with one another, respect one another, and do not be like water and oil, repelling one another, but like water and milk, mingling with one another. You have to study together, you have to study together. You have to practice together. Do not waste your energy and time in lazy life and useless arguments. You have to take pleasure in the flowers and fruits of enlightenment, which is the Dharma.

All my teachings are based on my own testimony. Follow it well, and walk in its spirit in all circumstances. If you neglect it, you will not be able to see me, even if you stand beside me. If you follow my teachings, even if you are far from me, you are actually by my side. My disciples, my last time has come, and we are about to part. Don't weep, life is inherently impermanent, and no one can avoid it. Me too. My physical life is about to pass away, and it will be destroyed like a decaying vehicle.

Do not weep for nothing, but remember that life is short and impermanent. From this, you have to realize the principle of emptiness, and from impermanence you realize the truth of permanence. Do not forget, my disciples, that death is only the passing of physical life. Physical life comes from parents and is nurtured by food. They do not protect against old age, sickness and death. But my true life is the Dharmakaya, not the Body. The physical body will disappear, but the true Dharma body will be eternal, immortal and immortal. When you see me, you don't see the Buddha. To follow my teachings is to see the Buddha.

After I am destroyed, my teachings will be your teachers. Follow my teachings, and you will see me. In the last forty-five years, I have taught you everything. My teachings have no secrets, no hiding, and are taught to you bit by bit, in full, openly, and clearly. My dear disciples, this is the end of my teachings, and in a short time I will enter Nirvana. That is my final lesson to you. ”

Duan Chaonuan said that the last teaching of this Buddha is nothing, you have to compete with others, and you have the kind of competitive spirit that you have to compete with each other.

It's just to tell this person, the Buddha's last teachings to tell this person, that is, you really need to make a decision quickly.

What to talk about every day, what to talk about, what to talk about, the basic laws of Taoism and Buddhism, this matter of Buddhism and Taoism's way of doing things, that is also amazing.

I've heard all this, and I should almost stop talking. Goshoya

But the other person doesn't have that plan.

"In the time of the Buddha, kings, ministers, and benefactors in the ancient Indian kingdom of Shawei used to hold lamp offerings to the Buddha and the monks. A poor beggar named Nian Gamu was very happy when she saw the lantern offering and thought to herself, "What bad karma did I create in the past and turn into a beggar?" Now, although I have encountered the Three Jewels that can cultivate merit, I have no money. Thinking of this, I couldn't help but burst into tears.

One day, the poor girl begged for a copper coin, so she happily ran to the oil shop to buy oil, and the shopkeeper asked, "What do you want this oil for?" The poor girl said she wanted to go and offer the lamp. The shopkeeper was very kind and understood her kindness, so he doubled the amount of oil. The poor girl was so happy that she made an oil lamp and offered it to the Buddha and made a vow, "Today I offer a small lamp to the Buddha to make a merit that I will have a lamp of wisdom and will remove the ignorance and darkness of all living beings." The poor girl made a vow and bowed to the Buddha and left.

The next day, when the Buddha's great disciple Moggallan went to collect the lamp, he found that all the other lamps had been extinguished, except for the lamp offered by the poor girl, which was as bright as if it had just been lit. Moggallan thought that lighting the lamp during the day was meaningless and wasteful, and that it should be lit again at night when the Buddha was teaching. So he went to extinguish the lamp, but no matter what he tried, he could not do it. The Buddha came up to him and said, "Moggallan, stop! As a shravaka, you cannot extinguish this lamp, because this lamp is offered with a vast heart for the benefit of many sentient beings. And instructed: "Nian Gamu will become a Buddha in the future, and the light of the Buddha number will come." ”

Duan Chaonuan seems to know this story vaguely, and vaguely feels that this problem was told to him by his grandmother when he was a child, and what his grandmother said at that time.

What does this question prove?

Duan Chaonuan squinted his eyes, thinking about this question in his heart, and then tried to recall this allusion about this "Poor Girl Offering the Lamp".

It seems to be...

"The poor girl offering a lamp is a very famous Buddhist story.

The biggest revelation for us is that when we do good deeds, whether it is giving money to the poor, donating money to monasteries, social charities, or doing all kinds of other good deeds, we must do it with a pure heart and know how to make vows. The purer the heart and the greater the aspirations, the greater the retribution we can receive.

If, on the other hand, the good deeds are filled with anticipation or mixed with too many bad motives, the retribution will be limited.

Just like a poor girl, the lamp she offered to the Buddha was the smallest, but the retribution she received was undoubtedly the greatest, far exceeding the offerings of the king's ministers, and the reason for this was that she had a pure heart that was millions of times more special than the king's ministers! ”
