A monk cited a verse by the Wolun Zen Master and said, "The Wolun has tricks and can break a hundred thoughts." I can't afford to be in the state of mind, and the Bodhi day is getting longer. After hearing this, Master Huineng said, "I have not yet understood my own Buddha-nature in this verse, and if I practice according to it, I will be putting a constraint on my Buddha-nature." So, the master also made a verse: "Huineng has no tricks, and constantly thinks about it." Counting the state of mind, how long is Bodhi?

After seeing this poem, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng said, "The Wochakra has not yet truly understood the true meaning of the Dharma. If you practice in this way, you will die. It is a mistake to think that 'not being able to be able to feel good' is good kung fu. When we cultivate the Tao, we want to become a living Buddha, and we are not cultivating to become a dead Buddha and become gold, wood, earth and stone, so what kind of Buddha is that? What's the use of not being able to benefit sentient beings? The Sixth Ancestor also made a side and said: "Huineng has no tricks, and he keeps thinking." Counting the state of mind, how long is Bodhi doing? ”

On this issue, we can't say more, we can't say more, and we can't be wrong.

The disciples did not understand what they meant, so they asked the Zen master to give a lecture, and the six groups of Zen masters explained: "The so-called trick is to have kung fu, and the mind is dwelling, that is, to focus on kung fu, this is the dharma, and it is not possible." If the thought is broken, like a big stone, then what is the use? If you don't think about anything, you can't do it either, so I say, 'Count the mind.'"

Just like when we speak the Dharma and listen to the Dharma, we must also have our hearts and minds, even if our hearts are moving and not looking, it is equivalent to not having our hearts and minds. Bodhi shows that the true heart of the Buddha does not increase, does not decrease, does not arise or perish, even if he cultivates to become a Buddha, he does not increase by a single point, how can it increase? These two short stories of Buddhist classics hope to enlighten Buddhism together, spread Zen culture, and let you enlighten your life and understand the truth.

So in fact, on this issue, Duan Chaonuan didn't think anything was wrong.

Duan Chaonuan still opened his mouth, feeling that he couldn't let this voice continue to say this.

"Once upon a time there was a king, and he was dull and tyrannical. Once, the queen gave birth to a daughter. When the king saw that the girl was so young, he called the doctor and ordered: "Go and get me medicine, and let my daughter eat it, and grow up at once." ”

The doctor did not dare to refuse the king's request, for in that case the tyrannical king would kill him immediately. The wise doctor thought for a moment and said to the king, "I know that there is a good medicine, and if it is given to His Majesty's daughter, she will grow up at once." But now in a hurry, I don't have this medicine in my hand, and I have to look for it far away. ”

When the king heard this, he told the doctor to go for medicine at once. The doctor added, "There is one condition, Your Majesty cannot see your daughter until I find the medicine." If you look at your daughter, the medicine doesn't work. When I find the medicine and take it, I'll show her to you, and you'll see a grown princess. ”

The king agreed to the doctor's request and asked the vizier to take his daughter away. So the doctor went out and went far away to find medicine. It took twelve years for the doctor to return and find the king's daughter. By this time, the princess had grown into a big girl. The doctor gave her a random medicine, and then took her to the king. When the king saw his daughter, he was very happy, and thought to himself, "What a good doctor this is, and he has given medicine to my daughter, and she has become so old at once." So the king ordered his attendants to bring many treasures and give them to the doctor. Lazy people listen to books

When the people found out about this, they all laughed at the king's ignorance and did not know how to calculate the age of his daughter, and when they saw that her daughter had grown up, they thought it was the power of medicine, which was really stupid. ”

What kind of story is this elixir, Duan Chaonuan still thinks that this is a problem.

"In ancient times, it was not easy to be a master craftsman, not only did they have to learn from the master from an early age, but they were also forced to serve the king in various ways after they left the school. In order to escape from servitude, craftsmen came up with various methods.

There is an old craftsman master. He had served the king for a long time and made many very fine artefacts, which the king often rewarded as prizes to meritorious ministers. The old craftsman, in spite of his life's hard work, was still poor, and he wanted to escape from the king's servitude, but he did not dare to run away, because that would be punished, so he had only one way left, and that was to intercede with the king.

He had made up his mind for a long time, and finally mustered up the courage to go to the king: "Your Majesty." He trembled and said, "The minister is respected by His Majesty and can serve His Majesty." But the minister is now old and frail, and his eyes are so blind that he can barely see clearly due to years of overwork, and he can no longer work for His Majesty. Therefore, the minister wants to tell the old man to return to his hometown and ask His Majesty for permission. ”

"You're my old craftsman." The king was a little reluctant to let him go, "I like what you make very much, so I don't want you to go, but you have worked for this king for decades, and you should enjoy the blessings." Reward you with a hundred taels of silver, and go home to enjoy your old age in peace. ”

"Thank you, Your Majesty! Thank you, Your Majesty! When the old craftsman heard this, he was overjoyed and kowtowed again and again.

Soon the news of the old craftsman spread among the craftsmen, and everyone was very envious of his blessings, and they began to discuss:

"Have you heard about the old craftsman pretending to be blind?"

"When I heard that, he told the king that he was blind, but he was not blind at all, but better than mine. Not only did he escape from servitude, but he was rewarded with a hundred denarii. ”

"If you are blind, you will not be forced to do hard labor. Let's be blind, and even if we don't get a reward, it's good to be able to avoid hard labor. ”

Someone who heard what they said and thought the craftsmen were stupid, and enlightened them, saying, "The old craftsman alone lied to the king that he was blind, and of course the king would believe him." But now that you see that the old craftsman has been blessed with blindness, and has also blinded his eyes, the king will surely guess that you have deliberately blinded your eyes because you did not want to serve the labor. Then not only will there be no reward, but you will be punished for your sins, and perhaps you will be put to death. Besides, you have ruined your eyes, you can't even take care of your own life, and you can't make a living, haven't you ruined yourself in vain? ”

The craftsmen listened to his words and thought it was very reasonable, so they dispelled the idea of blinding their eyes. ”

Therefore, on this issue, Duan Chaonuan is also iron-hearted, and he wants to talk to him.
