Chapter 220: The Mysterious Voice Thirteen
"Once, the Buddha traveled to the Acropolis, the capital of the kingdom of Kansara, and lived in the garden of solitude in the south of the city. During a meditation session, Venerable Ananda realized that the desires of people in the world are seldom satisfied, and few people die with a disgust with desires. It is so rare to be content and die of disgust with desires. In the evening, after Venerable Ananda finished his meditation, he went to see the Buddha and reported his realizations in meditation to the Buddha.
The Buddha told Venerable Ananda, "Yes! Oh, yes! Exactly. Ananda! In the past, there was a wise wheel king named 'Dingsheng', who had a large army, and also owned seven treasures such as wheel treasures, elephant treasures, horse treasures, treasures, female treasures, lay treasures, and main soldier treasures, and had thousands of brave sons, who freely ruled a large territory that extended to the sea, and knew how to govern the country by royal government rather than by force and punishment, and the people lived very rich and happy.
Ananda! After a long time, one day, the king thought to himself: I now own the vast territory of Yanfuzhou, with many and rich people, and I also have seven treasures and a thousand sons, and I want the whole palace to have treasures and wealth up to my knees.
When King Dingsheng had possessed the knee-high treasures of the entire palace, one day he wanted to rule another rich part of the western continent called Qudhani.
After a long time later, after the king of Dingsheng took control of the western kingdom of Quddhani, one day he wanted to rule another wealthy part of the eastern continent called the continent of Buddha Tatarti.
After the king of Dingsheng ruled the eastern Buddha Buddha Tara Continent, after a long time, one day, he wanted to rule another rich place in the north called Yudan Yuezhou.
When King Dingsheng ruled another continent in the north called Yudan Yuezhou, after a long time, one day, he thought again: Legend has it that there is a place called Thirty-three Days in the Heavenly Realm, and now, I have ruled the four continents of the world, and I want to go to Thirty-three Days to see.
The king of Dingsheng went to the thirty-three days with his divine powers, and saw the special environment there. Then the king entered the assembly hall for thirty-three days. The leader of the Thirty-Three Days, the Heavenly Emperor Shakti, respected him as a mighty wheel king, and hurriedly got up and gave him half a seat, so that the king of the top birth could sit next to him. At this time, the appearance of the Dingsheng King, except for the eyes, became exactly the same as that of the Heavenly Emperor Shakti.
After a long time, the king thought to himself: I have seven treasures, a thousand sons, and treasures, and I rule over the four continents of the earth, and now that I have come to the thirty-third day, and I have obtained half of the Heavenly Emperor Shakti, and besides, except for my eyes, my appearance is as special as that of the Heavenly Emperor Shakti, so why don't I drive the Heavenly Emperor Shakti away and seize the other half, so that I will become a free ruler in heaven and earth.
Ananda! When King Dingsheng thought like this, he unconsciously fell back to Yan Fuzhou in the original human world, lost his supernatural power for thirty-three days, and became seriously ill.
Before he died, a minister came to him and asked, 'My lord! If someone comes to me and asks me what the king confessed when he died, how would I answer? ’
You should answer this: The king of Dingsheng got Yan Fuzhou, and he was not satisfied and died; With Qibao, he still felt dissatisfied and passed away; With a thousand sons, he still felt dissatisfied and died; He had a large number of treasures, but he was not satisfied and died; After getting the island of Qudhani, he felt dissatisfied and died; After getting the Buddha Buddha Tathati, he was still dissatisfied and died; got Yu Dan Zhou, and felt dissatisfied and died; I was able to see the gathering of the heavens, and I felt dissatisfied and died; The king of the top life had five desires for pleasure, but he also felt dissatisfied and died. If someone asks, just answer it like that. ’”
Then the Buddha said:
"Even if treasures rain, desires are still not satisfied;
Desire brings only suffering and no happiness, and the wise should know so. 52 Literature
Even if you get an infinite amount of gold, it is as high as a snowy mountain;
Nor can they be satisfied one by one, but the wise should think so.
Even if there are five heavenly desires, they do not take pleasure in these five desires;
Such a person who is free from greed and desire is a disciple of the Enlightened One. ”
Duan Chaonuan thought, thinking about this question, and felt that maybe he should think so.
"Why are people not satisfied? How can we cure the problem of discontentment?
The dying words of the king of Dingsheng are also good, expressing his own introspection.
There are so many people who are not satisfied, so don't wait until the end of your life to reflect on yourself, like the king of the top life! ”
In the past, the world-honored people used to swim by the Ganges River, and it was widely said that it was important. Whenever the World-Honored One speaks the Dharma, countless celestial dragons, ghosts, kings, people, and even birds and beasts come to listen to the Dharma.
One day, an old man herding cattle heard that the Lord was teaching the subtle methods to sentient beings by the Ganges River, so he came with a cane to listen to the teachings. Because he was so engrossed in listening to the Fa that he didn't notice that a toad was pressing under the cane; And this shrimp toad was also overjoyed when he heard the teachings of the World Venerable, and was not at all aware that he had a deadly rod on his back.
After the shrimp toad who was crushed to death by crutches died, his divine consciousness was born in heaven and became a celestial being. The celestial beings wanted to know which kind of beings they were in their previous lives, and what kind of causes were the causes for them to be reborn in the heavenly realm, so they observed with the eyes of heaven and saw that their predecessor was a shrimp toad that had not been reborn long by the Ganges River, so they came from heaven to the earth and scattered the smallpox on the shrimp toad to express their gratitude.
Therefore, the World-Honored One taught that people in future generations, even the shrimp and toad in the animal path, can be reborn in heaven because they have heard the Dharma with their hearts, and their hearts can be enlightened. What's more, if a virtuous person can listen to the scriptures and hear the Dharma wholeheartedly, wouldn't it be even more incredible to achieve special merits!
Jingyun: "The Dharma is like nectar, which removes heat and cools." "Buddhism is the truth of life, like cool nectar, moistening the hearts of sentient beings, like a torch guiding sentient beings to the bright road of life. If we can listen to the Dharma with respect, humility, and righteous faith, and follow the teachings in our daily lives, we can initiate great aspirations, promote the Dharma, and attract more people to meditate and listen to the Dharma, practice diligently, take care of each other, benefit ourselves and others, and then the world is a pure land.
"There was an elder in the kingdom of Shewei who gave birth to a daughter. Strangely, as soon as she fell to the ground, she said something astonishing: "I have done something unkind, I have done something unfilial, I have done something shameless, I have done something sinful, I have done something ungrateful." At this point, he suddenly fell silent, and everyone did not know the meaning of these words. When people saw that the girl was very smart and wise, they named her Hyun.
When this girl grew up, she didn't like red clothes and robes. He often enjoyed wearing robes, and soon became a monk and became a bhikshuni. Although she did not follow the Buddha, she practiced diligently and soon attained the Arhat Path. Later, she regretted that she had not been able to follow the Buddha to learn the Dharma, so she ran thousands of miles to the Buddha's side and confessed to the Buddha. ”
