"Tang Shicha Nanda translated the "Huayan Sutra" fifty-three references, the good wealth boy once visited an old man who sold incense, that is, the old man who sold incense, this elder is a great bodhisattva, he responded to the prayer of the good wealth boy, introduced his mastery of the realm of incense, said:

Good man! I know all the incense, and I also know how to mix all the incense, the so-called: all incense, all burning incense, all applying incense, and all last incense. He also knows where all the incense kings come from, and he knows all the incense of the heavens, the dragon, the yakshas, the Gandharva, the asuras, the garudas, the kinaras, the maharajas, the humans, the non-humans, and all the incense. It is also good to know the incense of curing all diseases, cutting off all evil, giving birth to joy incense, increasing the incense of afflictions, extinguishing the incense of afflictions, making incense for the sake of life, making incense for the sake of life and disgust, giving up all the incense of sorrow, reciting the incense of the Buddha in the heart, incense for the enlightenment of the Dharma, incense for the use of the sanctuary, incense for all bodhisattvas, incense for all bodhisattva status, and so on, and so

If we talk about incense, here we can call it incense when incense leads to the way of liberation.

The elder also introduced that there is a famous incense in the world called "Xiangzang incense", which is a kind of agarwood treasure.

Good man! There is incense in the world, and the name says: Xiangzang, because of the dragon fight. If you burn a pill, a big incense cloud will cover the royal capital, and it will rain in the middle of the seven days. If he wears the body, the body is golden; and the garments, and the palaces, and the pavilions, are all golden. If the wind blows into the palace, all living beings will be filled with joy for seven days and seven nights, happy in body and mind, free from all diseases, free from each other's sorrows, not frightened, not chaotic, compassionate, and pure-minded.

If the Wheel Saint King wants to send troops to fight, as long as he takes the elephant and burns it, his entire army will take off into the air, and when it flies, it will be able to defeat the enemy country, so the elephant Tibetan incense is very powerful. About 30 years ago, the Beijing Incense Factory produced an incense called "Xiangzang Xiang". Beijing incense factory is a century-old shop, according to records in the middle and late Qing Dynasty, the capital for the Qing court to make incense "incense shop temple incense pavilion", that is, its predecessor. ”

There is also such a story in the sixth volume of the "Book of Wisdom and Foolishness" translated by Yuan Wei Huijue, which just corroborates Zanning's statement:

Shi Fu Naqi, enlightened his brother, ordered a small hall for the world, and covered the village wood with pure sandalwood. His hall has been completed, and his brother is instructed to invite the Buddha. Xian Na replied: "Please Buddha, what kind of thing can condescend to the world?" Shi Fu Naqi, all with his brothers, made enough offerings, each holding an incense burner, climbed a tall building together, went to Gihuan from afar, burned incense and returned to the Buddha and the holy monks: "I only hope that tomorrow, I will look at the country and enlighten the foolish and blind beings." "The wish has been made, the cigarette is as desired, and the void is taken to the top of the world, and the combination is gathered to make a cigarette cover. After the remote water, wash the world's feet, and the water is also from the void, like hairpins, wishful path to the world's feet. At that time, Ananda, when he saw what was happening, asked the Buddha strangely: "Who releases smoke and water?" The Buddha said to Ananda: "It is a Funaqi Arhat bhikshu, in the country of the bowl, persuade the brother to envy the Na, invite the Buddha and the monk, so let go of the smoke and water, thinking that the letter is pleased." ”

At that time, the arhat Funaqi taught his elder brother Xianna to believe in Buddhism, and Xianna built a Buddhist hall for the world to use sandalwood. At that time, the Buddha and they did not live in the same country, so how could I invite the Buddha when he said that it was so far away? So Venerable Funaqi said, "In this way, we have all the things we offer, we will hold the incense burner in our hands, climb the tall building together, burn incense to the Buddha's Gihuan Monastery from afar, take refuge in the Three Jewels, and make a vow and pray, "May only tomorrow be in the despisy country, enlightened and ignorant, and blind sentient beings", and I hope that you will come to us tomorrow to teach us the Dharma of liberation for all of us. "The wish has been made, the cigarette is as you wish, take advantage of the void to the top of the world, and combine to make a cigarette cover." The cigarette condensed into a treasure cover, which did not disperse in the air, and flew all the way to the Gihuan Monastery of the World Venerable, where it gathered above the head of the World Venerable. This was not the end of the story, and Venerable Fu Naqi held the water bottle in his hand again and visualized washing the Buddha's feet. Because India walks barefoot, if you don't wear shoes, you must first wash your feet. Therefore, the eight tantric offerings are two bowls of water, the first bowl of water, the foot bath, and the second bowl of water, bathing, must first wash the feet before stepping into someone's house. So wash your feet first. As a result, he visualized the water from afar, bathing the feet of the World-Honored One, and the water also floated from the air to the Gihuan Monastery, which was very thin, and flowed to the Buddha's feet like a hairpin, bathing the Buddha. Ananda thought it was very strange, who is here to release smoke and water? It's a cigarette offering again, and it's water to bathe the Buddha's feet? On the one hand, Funaqi is an arhat with supernatural powers, and on the other hand, he is pious and sincere, so the Buddha told Ananda, "It is Funaqi Arhat bhikshu, in the country of the bowl, to persuade his brother to envy Na, to invite the Buddha and the monks, so he put smoke and water, thinking that he would believe in it." "Convey your faith and invite us to make offerings tomorrow. This is the origin of incense for the heart. ”

The Vimala Sutra says:

The upper boundary divides the 42 Ganges sand Buddha land, there are the names of the country and the incense, the Buddha number incense, and now, the fragrance of the country is the first than the incense of the people and the heavens of the Buddha world in the ten directions. There is no sound in the other land, and the name of the Buddha is revealed, only the pure great bodhisattvas, and the Buddha is the Dharma. Everything in its realm is made of incense, through the incense land, the garden is fragrant, and the aroma of its food flows around the immeasurable world.

In the country of incense, incense is used as a pavilion. We know that Western Elysium is a land of gold, and all kinds of treasures are made of towers. No, in the world of incense, the world of incense is all wonderful, all kinds of incense pavilions, through the incense land, the garden is fragrant and rich. The aroma of their food can even be smelled in the ten worlds. At this time, the incense is eating with the bodhisattvas. Originally, Sariputta, these great arhats, were discussing the Dharma with Vimalaya, but when they saw it, it was noon, and they didn't eat after lunch, and the Vimalaya family didn't prepare any offerings. The arhats were worried that we would all have to go hungry for a day without food for this meal. As a result, Vimala transformed into a bodhisattva and went to the land of incense to fetch food and offer it to the monks. The Bodhisattva came to the country of incense to worship the Buddha of incense, "I wish to be eaten by the world-honored one", you give me a little of your leftovers. If the incense is piled up, he will take the incense bowl full of fragrant rice and give it to the Bodhisattva to take back to the Vima Monastery of the Sampa World. The scripture says, "The city of Rice and Incense is smoked, and there are three thousand worlds." When he left the Brahmins, laymen, etc., he smelled the fragrance, his body and mind were happy, and he sighed that he had never been! ”
