3. Rationally view the employment of college students

Lead:

The main reasons for the difficulty of college students in finding employment are: from a macro point of view, since the reform and opening up, the development gap between urban and rural areas and between regions has been widening, and this imbalance in development will inevitably widen the difference in the employment environment, and the space for college students to choose a job has been correspondingly restricted, and the result will inevitably lead to an imbalance in employment. From the perspective of the system, there is nothing wrong with colleges and universities expanding their enrollment scale, but the failure to effectively adjust the education system, professional structure and outstanding ability training has also directly hindered the improvement of college students' employability. On the other hand, the concept of family and individual students also causes difficulties in finding employment to a certain extent.

At present, the difficulty of college students in finding employment has become a major problem for the country. In many job fairs, we find a large number of college students looking for jobs. We can't help but wonder: Are there too many college students in my country?

However, statistics show that the average gross enrolment ratio of tertiary education in developed countries reached 61.1 per cent in 1997, while the world average was 17.8 per cent in the same period, while the gross enrolment ratio of tertiary education in China was only 15 per cent in 2002 and rose to 19 per cent in 2005.

As far as China's specific situation is concerned, from 2002 to 2006, the national graduate enrollment scale was 195,000, 269,000, 328,000, 370,000 and 400,000 respectively, more than doubling in five years. According to the data released by the Ministry of Education, from 2000 to 2005, the number of ordinary college graduates in China was 1.07 million, 1.15 million, 1.45 million, 2.12 million, 2.8 million and 3.38 million respectively, and in 2006 the number of ordinary college graduates reached 4.1 million.

From more than 1 million for the first time in 2000 to 4.1 million in 2006, there has been a net increase of more than 3 million graduates in six years, and a net increase of more than 700,000 per year in the past three years. This means that the proportion of college students in China is less than 10% of the total population, so there is no surplus of talents in China.

So why is it difficult for college students to find employment?

From a macro point of view, since the reform and opening up, the development gap between urban and rural areas and between regions has been widening, and this imbalance in development will inevitably widen the difference in the employment environment, and the space for college students to choose a job will be correspondingly restricted, and the result will inevitably lead to an imbalance in employment.

To a certain extent, it is also difficult for college students to find employment, because their expectations are high, their own positioning is not good, and their ideals are out of touch with reality. Many young people think that they should have a regular job with good salary, and that they can only reflect their life value by staying in a big city or a large unit. Unwilling to put down the shelf, low profile into the society, in the ordinary job to seek development opportunities.

Chinese college students are affected by the elite education model and cannot correct their employment mentality. From the founding of the People's Republic of China to the early days of reform and opening up, there was an acute shortage of qualified personnel for socialist construction. Therefore, the importance of college students to the construction of society is self-evident as people who master the knowledge of modern science and technology, and most of them have become elites in all walks of life when they go to work.

In addition, in terms of university education, only a few people could go to university due to constraints, so the education model at that time could be said to be the model of elite education. With the deepening of reform and opening up, the development of science and technology, and the general jobs in society also require people to have highly specialized knowledge and skills. This has also prompted university education to become a model of mass education for a wider range of people in society.

However, the mindset formed by the elite education model has not withdrawn from the historical stage because of the arrival of the mass education model. Influenced by the traditional idea that college students are "social elites", many college graduates are unwilling to start from grassroots work, and are not willing to engage in basic work that can not quickly achieve economic benefits, so the phenomenon of college students' employment difficulties is directly related to the graduates' inability to correct their employment mentality.

Some people attribute the main manifestations of the difficulty of college students in finding employment in China to the following aspects: First, "there is no job to be found". The employment of college students is incremental employment, because of the impact of the financial crisis, the original labor demand has been greatly reduced, and the demand for new labor has shrunk, which ultimately leads to a relative decrease in the total number of jobs. The second is that "it is difficult to get a job". The difficulty of college students in finding employment is not due to the shortage of employment opportunities (jobs), but because of structural defects, that is, the quality and skills of graduates cannot meet the requirements of jobs, resulting in many college students not being able to find jobs at the same time, and no one is employed in the department. The third is "poor information". That is, it is difficult to find employment caused by poor information flow and misrepresentation of differences. On the one hand, many companies and many positions need college graduates, but they don't know where the right graduates are. On the other hand, college graduates don't know where to find a job that suits them. Fourth, "there is no job to be done". Some students and their families have backward concepts, and the thinking concepts such as "I would rather have a bed in the city than a house in the countryside" ultimately lead to difficulties in the employment of college students.

So how to deal with the difficulty of college students in finding employment?

The problem of college students' employment difficulties will be a long-term problem faced by our country, so the party and the first party have introduced a series of policies and implemented some important measures to actively promote the employment of college students, and have given full encouragement and support to the employment and entrepreneurship of college students. College students should have a positive attitude towards employment and overcome various difficulties encountered in employment.

First of all, the fundamental way to solve the "employment difficulties" of college students lies in accelerating the reform and transformation of higher education. The talent training model of China's colleges and universities deviates from the "people-oriented", ignores the extreme importance of reform and innovation to the development of colleges and universities, and ignores the "all-round" development of students. Graduates do not meet the needs of society is the direct cause of "difficulty in finding employment". The reform of the operation mechanism of colleges and universities is the leader and focus of solving the problem of "difficulty in employment" of graduates, and the key to ensuring the quality of talent training. Institutional deficiencies are the root cause of all social problems.

Secondly, college students, as the main body of employment, should adjust their mentality and be able to go up and down. When facing the workplace, there should be a rational attitude. It is necessary to see what kind of qualities you have, what kind of work you can do, and get rid of the moral influence of the traditional elite education thinking model. Don't have thoughts like this in your head first: don't do it if the salary is less than a few thousand, and don't do it if the job is too basic. Such people are often high-eyed and low-handed, and lack a practical spirit of starting from small things.

On the basis of a clear understanding of their own abilities, college graduates should start from the jobs they can do, and gradually cultivate and improve their abilities, and then they can realize their development from grassroots jobs to higher-level jobs; Be down-to-earth, don't be ambitious; It is necessary to recognize the value of basic work and use it as a base for improving one's own quality and ability; Don't be passive and idle in the job, but based on the grassroots position, positive, so that you can realize your own value in the work, and grow in the process of struggle and summary. Only in this way can we solve the problem of difficult employment for college students.
