1. Marriage ethics for equality between men and women

Marriage is the foundation of the family, and without marriage there can be no family. Taoism believes that everything between heaven and earth is formed by the combination of yin and yang, and in the world, men belong to yang and women belong to yin, and only by cooperating with each other can they embody the way of heaven. The early Taoist classic "Taiping Sutra" believes that if there is no marriage relationship, it will inevitably lead to "Yin and Yang do not intersect, but (out) extinction and no world". Human reproduction depends on marriage to continue, which shows the Taoist understanding of the importance of marriage.

The way of marriage embodies the way of people, and Peng Zu, who is regarded as the authority of health preservation by the Taoist circles, starts from people's physiological and psychological instincts, and believes that "men cannot be without women, and women cannot be without men". Many Taoist books express the idea that men and women live in the room, and people are great. Only yang is not born, only yin cannot be achieved, and humanity cannot be abolished. It can be seen that Taoism recognized the importance of the family for human reproduction, and therefore affirmed the existence of marriage.

Taoism inherited Lao Tzu's idea that "all things are negative yin and embrace yang, and impulse is harmonious", and believes that the existence of human life cannot be abandoned by men and women. "Taiping Sutra" said: "Heaven and Yang are the same as heaven and earth, one yin and one yang, so that the heavens have a man and a woman, and then they can give birth." He Naizheng is making a yin and a yang, the husband anode can give birth to yin, and the cathode can give birth to yang, these two are passed down from generation to generation, compared to the cold to the heat, the heat to the cold, and the art of nature. From here, it can be seen that the author of the "Taiping Sutra" starts from the fact that yin and yang are the Taoist system of heaven and earth, and extends it to the problems existing in the relationship between men and women in human society, and believes that men and women are the cooperation of yin and yang, which is a natural existence.

Xuan Chu said: "It is said that in ancient times, it was advocated by feudal society, and men and women were not equal? How can you say that there is one yin, one yang, one man and one woman? Isn't this reciprocal, and isn't that equal equal? ”

Lu Dongbin smiled: "For human society, women are indispensable. Based on this, Taoism has great respect for the status of women. In the Taoist ideal of immortals, female immortals have the same or similar status as male immortals, and female crowns (Taoist aunts) can directly become immortals like male Taoist priests. In terms of the way of marriage, Taoism recognizes that it is because of the existence of women that marriage can be harmonious, and in order to maintain the harmony of marriage and continue the world, in the family, it is necessary to respect women and treat women equally. It is precisely because of these that the Taoist concept of marriage expresses the ideological concept of equality between men and women to a certain extent. Especially in early Taoism, the concept of equality between men and women is particularly typical. ”

The "Taiping Sutra" believes that "a woman's husband is better than a man's official position, and he deserves food and clothing." That is to say, being a wife is like being an official, and you should enjoy "money". Therefore, once the marriage relationship is established, the husband and wife should work together to produce and work to create a better life. "When a woman goes to her husband's house, she should stand side by side and govern life with one heart, and she will spread the unity of heaven and earth, and she will still be in the same place until she dies. Moreover, this common work is an important factor in strengthening the marriage relationship: "If the wife has what she can do, she will not have two hearts, and she will do her own thing, and she will no longer be suspicious." Good ethics and morality of husband and wife is an important guarantee of family harmony and a solid foundation for husband and wife to get along. Among the various family ethics and moral relations, the ethics of husband and wife are the most long-lasting and stable. Equal marriage between men and women is conducive to the construction of a harmonious family, and family harmony can promote a more stable marriage relationship. Due to the influence of feudal ideology, the feudal idea of male superiority and inferiority of women still exists, which leads to the low status of women, the main members of the family, thus forming an unequal marriage relationship between men and women, which causes family discord, and family discord will inevitably affect the construction of a harmonious society.

Honoring one's parents and loving one's children is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, and it is also the main moral means of Taoism to persuade goodness and education. Taoism advocates "good retribution to heaven and earth, loyalty to the country, filial piety to parents, righteousness to teachers", this idea has a strong vitality in the land of China with deep-rooted traditional culture, since ancient times and today.

Taoism has absorbed the Confucian ethics of emphasizing filial piety and incorporated it into the category of health preservation. The author of the "Taiping Sutra" put forward the principle of cultivation is to pay equal attention to health preservation and accumulation of virtue, "the inner to longevity, the outer to reason", the first point of which is "filial piety" - relatives: "learning to longevity and filial piety as the urgency", "parents, the root of life", "unfilial piety and Taoism, no one to reach heaven".
