Lu Dongbin said: "The sincere person has the same heart; Believers, undoubted will; Those who are pure, do not lose their thoughts; The one who is quiet, the god who is not delusional. What mantras and exercises passed on by the sages and immortals and Buddhas still need your root to supply nutrients! You don't have that root, I'll give you to play, it's almost done, it's still just dead alive! From ancient times to the present, which saint have you seen teach you spells at every turn? Teach you the trick? I saw that the masters in the world who used these to collect money shouted one by one: I have a certain faction of truth! I want to preach and save! ”

Lu Dongbin said again: "Yuan Zhen! If there are old cultivators around you, you should ask, why are you a monk? What exactly is practice? Is the so-called method of becoming an immortal and becoming a Buddha be inherited? Can I pay a small tuition fee to buy the real recipe? If you have money, you can get it. Aren't all rich men enlightened? ”

Xiao Tianshu said: "Dao Ancestor knows Sun Simiao, right? Many of the current views are that he has gone through the medical books of the previous generations, and the books are vast, and the simple books are heavy and difficult to find. Based on his own research and practice in medicine, he cut down the complicated and simplified it and compiled it as "A Thousand Gold Prescriptions", "thinking that human life is the most important, there is a precious thousand gold, and one party is the best, and virtue is here". ("The Preface to the Daughter") is a simple and practical book, which can save the emergency, so it is called "Prepare for the Emergency". This book includes the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, hygiene and other aspects of diseases, especially the treatment of gynecological and pediatric diseases, so the women's and children's prescriptions are listed at the top of the book. Xiao Tianshu said: "Thanks to Daozu for pointing out the maze of disciples, the medical books collected in the orthodox "Daozang" of the Ming Dynasty are from "The Yellow Emperor's Neijing Suwen", "Eighty-one Difficult Classics" and the above-mentioned "Behind the Elbow" and "Qianjin Fang" about 20 books, but there are also some Taoist medical books such as Zhang Sanfeng's "Immortal Prescription", Zhao Yizhen's "Jijian Immortal Fang", Shao Zhenren's "Green Capsule Miscellaneous Compilation", and Zhenxian's "Shouyu Shenfang" have not been included. In short, Taoism attaches great importance to medicine, although its starting point is to seek immortality and immortality in religion, but its content contains a lot of scientific valuable things, which should be paid attention to and excavated. ”

Taoists divide medicine into upper, middle and lower grades, believing that taking high-grade medicine can make people become immortals and live forever. "Hug Puzi?? To the vulgar chapter, he said: "Knowing the longevity of medicine, take its medicine to seek immortals." Chinese medicine can maintain health and prolong life, and low-grade medicine can be used to treat diseases. Ge Hong said that the Jiuding Divine Pill can become an immortal if you take it, such as a cloud: "The pill of nine turns, take it for a day to get immortals." Also Dan "serve a sword Gui, that is, the sun ascends to heaven." ("Hugging Puzi??") Jindan") But this kind of Jindan is not able to stand the test of practice, in history, many people who seek immortals, eat Jindan medicine, not only did not become immortals, but poisoned to death, not only can not prolong life, but short life. Therefore, the ancient poem says: "Taking food to seek immortals is mostly mistaken by medicine." There are many cases of death in history. The emperors of the Tang Dynasty, such as Xianzong, Muzong, Wuzong, and Xuanzong, were all poisoned to death by taking pills. In order to take food, you must know medicine, so Taoists such as Ge Hong, Tao Hongjing, Sun Simiao, etc. are all famous medical scientists. ”
