Chapter 58: The Palace Carpet (3)

"Dye it red and blue, and weave it into a carpet on the incense hall. The incense hall is more than ten zhang wide, and the red thread is woven into the hall shop. ”

Bai Juyi only said a few words, and pulled us back to that prosperous era:

On the palace carpet with calyxes, there are neon clothes fluttering and feather dances, Li Bai who is drunk and confused, and Yang Yuhuan who looks back and smiles.

However, beauties will eventually pass away, time will eventually grow old, only the old objects, the old palace carpets, have gone through the wind and frost of the years, retain the imprint of history, and tell one moving story after another.

Beijing palace carpet, noble and elegant, exquisite composition, bright color, three-dimensional concave and convex tailoring is very layered, the style is ever-changing. In terms of its material, Beijing palace carpets include silk carpets, velvet carpets and gold carpets. But among them, the one that best reflects its unique artistic value and royal style is the "Panjin Carpet".

"Panjin blanket" refers to the background color of the palace carpet woven with gold wire when weaving, so that the palace carpet appears golden and brilliant. As early as the Qianlong period, this kind of "Panjin Carpet" has been among the first-class collections of the palace, and cloisonne, jade carving, ivory carving, carved lacquer, gold lacquer inlay, filigree inlay, Beijing embroidery and called "Yanjing Eight Uniques".

Due to historical reasons, this kind of gold carpet once disappeared. "In the 20s of the last century, it was extinct, and there was no more weaving, in order to rescue and excavate the process of this endangered Panjin carpet, our fifth carpet factory developed such a project and set up such a rescue team."

The technical team has repeatedly observed and analyzed the only few remaining gold carpets in the Forbidden City several times, and successfully restored this lost technology. And in February 2009, the Beijing Palace Carpet was officially included in the national intangible cultural heritage list.

"Panjin Nine Dragons Silk Carpet" is a Panjin blanket woven with modern restoration technology. The weaving density is 120 lanes, i.e. 120 rows per square foot. In the center of the carpet, a coiled dragon sits in the center, and the eight dragons around it are symmetrically distributed in the rhythm style, and the outside is the "Buddha Eight Treasures" pattern that symbolizes auspiciousness, which is still distributed in a strict and symmetrical rhythmic style.

The background of the main body of the picture is woven with 24K gold threads, while the center coiling dragon and the edge of the blanket are 18K gold threads, which are slightly dim, and the gold threads of different colors divide the overall composition from the center to the edges, dividing different levels to make it more exquisite.

A delicate gold carpet is inseparable from excellent pattern design. In the past, the patterns of weaving carpets were drawn by hand, which required designers to have solid painting skills. Now, with the help of PC software, designers can do their work more easily.

After the sample design is completed, it is enlarged with the specifications of the palace carpet design, which is called "lofting". Lofting itself is also a process of re-creation, the pattern after lofting, may be somewhat discounted in terms of aesthetics, or some small patterns can not be weaved, which requires the designer to make appropriate adjustments to the pattern, modify the size of the pattern, make the overall layout more reasonable, and even redesign the details of the sample to make the pattern more suitable for weaving.

After the lofting is completed, according to the original design, mark some numbers in the corresponding position of the drawing, which correspond to a fixed color, which can be found in the color card book, which will help the weaver to identify and choose the correct color yarn for weaving. This step is called color grouping.

After the color composition is completed, the sample is transferred to the coordinate paper at a 1:1 ratio, and the short line segments are used instead of curves, which can make the size and position of the pattern and the color area more accurate, and facilitate weaving. Carpet weavers can also mark the colors and weaving techniques used in the coordinate squares according to their habits.

The grade of Beijing palace carpet is divided according to the number of channels and the quality of the velvet thread, the better the quality of the velvet thread, the higher the number of the carpet, the higher the grade. More than 120 pieces belong to high-end products, 90 to 100 pieces belong to the mid-range, and specifications below 90 pieces are extremely rare in the weaving of palace carpets.

Commonly used velvet thread can be divided into 3.5 branches, 6 branches, 7 branches, 10 branches, etc., "branch" indicates the thickness of the velvet thread, the higher the number of threads, the finer the velvet thread, and the finer the woven blanket. When weaving, instead of using a single velvet thread, several velvet threads are used together, which is called the number of strands of velvet thread, such as 6 strands of 4 strands, which is composed of 4 and 6 velvet threads.

A palace blanket, with a simple pattern, only needs three or four colors of velvet thread; Seventy or eighty kinds of patterns are required for complex patterns. The color matching type of the pattern can be divided into two types: the color of the color and the touch-up: the color transition is clear, and the pure color velvet of the same color is used to achieve it; The touch-up refers to the soft color transition, we use the combination of different colors of velvet to achieve this effect, gradually change the color ratio of the velvet, can accurately control the color shade, light and dark changes.

The gold wire used in the gold blanket is not pure gold wire, because the gold wire is >>
