Appendix 1: Yemen, the main site of Al-Qaida's activities

Yemen is located at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula and has had little news media attention to it before. In fact, it was not at all that it happened before, before 9/11, when the US warship "Cole" was seriously injured by the bombing, and it happened in this place. Of course, 9/11 diluted it, and many people forgot about it.

Yemen's long-term government has not been very stable, and there has been a lot of political factionalism. The Yemeni government's ability to manage the situation effectively is not very strong. Under these circumstances, it is not surprising that it became a site of activity for Al-Qaida.
