Chapter 11: Chapter 2: London Encounters (7)
So we landed at JFK Airport in New York, and it took me three hours to get out of customs, and the moment I stepped out of the airport hall I felt like I had a new lease of life, New York had always been a strange place to me, and it was right in front of me. I was probably tired of staying in London, and now I came to New York, which has a very punk impression, and I am looking forward to the next trip.
We got into a yellow taxi, the driver was a fat black man, the car drove from the airport all the way to the hotel, the driver was very enthusiastic: "First time in New York? ”
I replied, "Yes." ”
"Welcome to New York."
"Thank you."
Along the way, black drivers were introducing us to New York, such as the Hudson River, Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty at the top of the Delta, as well as Brooklyn and the West Village.
"New York is beautiful, and in my heart it's heaven, but it still doesn't belong to me." The black driver spoke very solemnly, but there was some helplessness under the words.
Then the driver played Beyond's "Glory Years", which he said was his favorite and only Chinese song he could sing.
We arrived at Fifth Avenue in this rock tune written decades ago, an international hotel chain on Fifth Avenue, and I received a text message from the bank that I knew it was expensive.
When I stand in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of the hotel and look out at the scenery after taking a shower, I just think that money is a good thing, and people can enjoy being in paradise. I could drink champagne and wear the white bathrobes of a fancy hotel, looking at the people in the office building across from me who were still scratching their ears and working overtime, and they were busy in a way that I didn't have to experience.
Jay hugged me from behind and looked at the dazzling night view of New York with me, his aura surrounded me, and I felt that I was a woman worthy of love. I love him, he loves me, and I am happy now, lacking nothing.
We went to the Empire State Building, and we went to the Metropolitan Museum, and Jay, who was studying oil painting, was standing in front of a 19th-century painting, and I didn't dare to look around, and I found a boy who looked like an American college student sitting on the ground, copying the painting.
I patted Jay on the shoulder and said, "Do you want to sit here and paint like him?" ”
Jay shook his head, "No. ”
We hurriedly walked upstairs and downstairs, but the Metropolitan Museum was so big that we couldn't walk for three hours, and we almost couldn't even find the exit.
We also went ice skating in Central Park, and he took my hand and flew around the small ski slopes. Outside, there is a Christmas tree about the height of a three-story building, reminding us that the year has come to an end.
Winter in New York was as cold as London, and I was wrapped in several layers of clothes inside and out. When we went out, the light snowflakes fell all over our bodies, Jay's hands were frozen red, and we walked side by side on the street, under the bustling buildings, two backs faint.
On the evening of December 31, New York time, we decided to go to Times Square for New Year's Eve, although this seems a bit backward, but fortunately, I never wanted to be a saint.
The lights and music of the city render Manhattan a paradise of the world, and we stand in front of the big screen in Times Square waiting for the countdown. Jay put his arm around my waist from behind, and we leaned on like this, hungry and waiting with thousands of people. When the bell rang, I turned around and kissed him and whispered in his ear, "Honey, always with me."
The yellow taxis were still stuck in traffic on the side of the road, drunk men and women were everywhere, the streets were in chaos, the sirens of police cars were honking through the streets, he was pulling me through the crowded streets, and we were rushing through the shiny shops and back to the hotel, all the way was like cheating.
The damn elevator didn't come down the seventeenth floor, and we couldn't help it, and he pushed me against the wall, and we kissed passionately, regardless of whether anyone walked by.
In the elevator, he did the same.
Many people in New York didn't sleep that night, and at two or three o'clock in the morning, there were still many people on the street showing their love in public.
But I never imagined that such chaos and passion would be all my youth.
