Chapter 469: Freighter
Late at night, the port.
Like a golden meteor piercing the sky, Iron Man flew over the harbor and stopped over the freighter.
Infrared scans showed no signs and various detectors did not identify any vital features. The whole ship was dark, and there was no light on the hull or dock. The armor's vision sensors automatically activated the night vision mode, and Tony operated the armor to land on the deck, slowly walking inside.
"Jarvis, scan the entire cargo ship and adjust the search to the reactor's radiation frequency."
"It has been done, sir, but no form of reactor radiation has been detected." Jarvis said.
"Stay vigilant."
Tony held his breath and moved on. He walked through room after room, and all he saw was pitch black. There was no sign of a living person, and the dust particles filled the air, each one of which was exceptionally clear under the magnification of the vision sensor.
Suddenly, the motion sensor readings seemed to jump a bit.
Tony paused: "Jarvis, is there something?" β
"I don't see anything, sir."
"But the values have just changed, and the machine can't go wrong." "Check the fluctuations in the numbers just now and try to locate the source of the changes...... Also give me a triple amplification of the motion capture of the vision sensor. β
"Yes, sir."
He couldn't find a reason for it yet, but he instinctively felt that he wasn't as lonely as he seemed on the surfaceβthere must be someone or something else here. He just knows.
The results of the analysis of the numerical changes point directly below him. Tony releases the gamma rays downwards for detection, activating the perspective mode of the vision sensor. The deck on which he stood looked like a bottomless black hole, and a huge black shadow was rapidly poking out of the cavern and shooting towards him at an alarming speed......
Rumble!!!
A massive jet-black iron hook pierced the deck, dragging a long mechanical tentacle flying out. Tony's pupils shrank, and an accelerated sideways move dodged the past. The metal hook pierced out with a sharp cracking sound, and Tony reacted with a quick sideways move to avoid it, and the sharp hook claw suddenly grabbed through the ceiling.
It was like a giant black whale emerging out of the water, and the deck was smashed open by a massive steel body. The ceiling was cracked, the room was torn in half, and the big creature was like an overwhelming monster, and the heavy mechanical friction sounded as if it were roaring lowly.
"Jarvis, what's that?" Tony asked as he lifted off.
"Analyzing...... Scans show that the material of the other party's enclosure is patented by Stark's material technology. Jarvis said.
Tony sideways dodged a tentacle that was almost clasped to his chest and raised an eyebrow, "So you're telling me that this thing is our own?" β
"Just the material, sir, I'm scanning its internals...... Complete. As it turned out, the design of the machine was completely unknown and unlike any technology we had ever been exposed to. β
"Could it be something that some hidden organization tossed up again? Like what...... The remnants of the Ten Rings Gang? Uh, no, they don't have the skills. β
As Tony muttered to himself, the big guy opened his mouth and fired two missiles at him. Tony dodged one and detonated one with a repulsive cannon. The blue energy blast and the dazzling fireball swelled rapidly, like a bright firework under the night sky.
"Less likely, sir." "I'm more inclined to think it's alien technology. β
"Hah, alien technology." Tony snorted, "I was a longing for this word for a while, and now every time I hear it, I feel like my head is big." β
The steel creature climbed from the cargo ship to the shore, metal tentacles poking out, and Tony was accidentally caught in the volley. His body was tightly locked, and the powerful squeeze from the tentacles made the shell of his armor rattle slightly, as if it were screaming.
"I think we might be underestimating it, sir." Jarvis said.
"Maybe, but I think it's underestimating us, too." Tony said in a deep voice, "Activate reactors 2 and 3, and inject energy into the gauntlets." β
"Understood."
The power output of the gauntlets was instantly doubled, and the simultaneous operation of several reactors made the output of Iron Man's armor reach a rather terrifying level. Tony broke free of the tentacles, and an accelerated flew out. With a wave of his right arm, he shot a golden laser from his wrist, like a sharp blade that would cut everything in two.
The shell of this big guy is quite hard, and the material properties are also excellent - and it is no surprise, after all, it is produced by Stark, and it must be a high-quality product.
But it is a patent of Stark Materials Science, and as the owner of the patent, Tony is rightfully aware of all its characteristics, including its weaknesses.
"Whoever you are, I'd say, you have a pretty good eye - you picked my design, after all." Tony rose into the air and raised his palm, "But that toy is long since I played with it, and your stuff is outdated." β
The repulsive energy was quickly charged, and the three arc-shaped reactors were running at the same time, and the energy burst out from the output port of the armored palm. The repulsive light cannon erupted, like two blue pillars of light converging in one place, turning into a sharp spear that pierced through the heavy armor with a single blow! The metal casing was like a thin layer of paper that could be easily torn apart, and beams of light pierced from behind.
The heavy mecha stopped instantly, as if someone had pressed the pause button, and through the front and rear rifts, you could even see broken circuits and beating electric snakes. A few seconds later, a crackling sound sounded from within, and the fire erupted from the inside out, tearing the sturdy carapace apart in an instant, and the entire armor burst open, and countless parts flew out like a rain of flowers.
The cargo ship was set on fire, the flames lit up the pitch-black sky, and metal shards rained down into the water.
"Director Stark, what's going on?" Maria Hill's communication came within seconds, "We've been notified that there's a major conflict on your coast, and that there's a high-level energy response...... Better tell me that's you. β
"It's me, Ciel." Tony stared at the fire burning on the cargo ship and the scrap metal machine, "There was a slight conflict just now, but the situation is under control. It's just that the finishing touches may have to be a little more cumbersome. β
"Okay, it's okay, we can talk about the details slowly." Hill said, "What about the reactor? Have you found the arc reactor? β
β...... Sort of, I think I should have found it. β
Although he didn't know what kind of means the other party used to block the energy release of the reactor, as a designer, he could easily recognize any reactor-based design, just as a father always recognized his own child.
He was at least eighty percent sure that the power source that drove the thing just now was his arc-shaped reactor.
