Chapter 468: Stolen Technology
"You don't belong here." The blonde female agent in a tight combat suit stood outside Captain America's cage, arms crossed, beautiful eyebrows tightly locked.
"I don't understand why you're staying here." She said.
The man sitting in the cage had a vicissitudes of life, a short beard on his chin, and an unkempt appearance. Coupled with his tired, feeble look, I'm afraid it's hard for anyone to believe that such a man was once Captain America.
"Then don't ask, Sharon." He whispered, "Listen to me once, it's none of your business. β
Sharon Carter, the niece of Captain America's then-time lover Peggy Carter. When Nick Fury was still in power, she lived next door to Rogers on the orders of the Director, serving as Captain America's bodyguard β though it may be a bit strange to say so.
"As long as you say a word, there are countless excellent warriors who are willing to give up everything to save you." Sharon said, pausing and lowering her voice, "Maybe there are quite a few of them inside Aegis." β
Rogers shook his head, "That's not what you should say. It is a soldier's duty to obey orders. β
"Aunt Peggy taught me to be adaptable." "She also taught me to always be on the right side," she said. Sometimes even if the world tells you that you are wrong, there are some things that are worth persevering for. β
Rogers groaned for a moment, smiling self-deprecatingly.
"yes, that sounds like what she would say."
The communicator on Sharon's wrist rang. She turned around and picked up the com: "This is Sharon Carter." β
"I'll report on the bridge at once." On the other side of the comm informed, "The Director has something to say. β
"Roger."
Sharon put down the communicator and turned to Rogers.
"Go ahead." Rogers hung his head, "Mission is calling, isn't it?" β
β...... I will come back. β
Sharon took two steps towards the door, suddenly paused, turned around, and said meaninglessly, "Maybe you haven't realized it yet, but your mission isn't over yet, Captain." Or rather...... It's just getting started. β
The captain raised an eyebrow in confusion, but she clearly didn't mean to explain any further. She turned, unlocked the alloy door, and strode out of the room.
When Sharon arrived at the bridge, it was already in full swing. Agents were moving up and down the hall, several large hanging screens carrying out the search process, seemingly repeating what they were searching for over and over again.
The command post on the bridge was empty, and their chief, Tony Stark, was standing in the middle of a pile of surround computers, as busy as the communications agents. Obviously, Tony Stark prefers to be hands-on compared to Nick Fury, who is used to standing on a high seat and controlling the whole situation.
As a scientist, he is more professional than 99.99% of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s engineers; And as a warrior, Iron Man alone can almost withstand the combat power of the entire Aegis, and there is still a lot of redundancy. But on the other hand, as a commander, he is actually not particularly good at - cohesion, morale boosting, etc., these parts are much better than Nick Fury.
To put it bluntly, Tony Stark is a man of action through and through. He prefers to do it himself rather than say it with his mouth.
"What's the situation?" Sharon asked. Sharon, who returned to Aegis after the reorganization of Aegis, has been given much higher authority than in the past, and now she is an eighth-level agent, and she believes that she has the right to intervene in most of Aegis's affairs.
Seeing Sharon coming, Maria Hill looked up and said, "Something was missing." β
"What's that?"
Agent Hill handed over a hovering screen. Sharon took it, glanced at it, and couldn't help but frown.
"This is...... Arc reactor? She was surprised.
"In fact, we've lost quite a few things." Tony, who was busy in the middle of a pile of screens, said without looking back, "There are still some new weapons that haven't had time to experiment or equip the team, and a few exoskeletons...... It doesn't matter anymore. Anyway, it doesn't add up to that much. β
Sharon stepped forward: "Because this is the core of Iron Man's technique?" β
She had learned about Tony's conflict with the military when she was in Aegis before the disbandment. The military has repeatedly urged and sent people to put pressure from various fields, but they have never been able to force Tony to hand over Iron Man technology.
"Yes...... And not only that. Tony frowned and said, "This isn't the old reactor, it's the version I've made many improvements." I had previously been able to get a technical upgrade through some unexpected channels, and this model of reactor had already been phased out by me. β
"But it's still a very dangerous thing." Hill added.
"Of course. Even the one I put together from discarded wiring in a terrorist cave is fifty years ahead of the world. Tony said proudly.
"And its whereabouts are unknown now." Sharon's tone was a little stiff, and it even sounded a bit like blame, "You screwed up, again." β
Tony's hand paused, and he looked at her more.
"That's okay." "I know my own design, I know everything about the parameters of the arc reactor β including the various wavelengths of radiation it emits, and it's only a matter of time before I find it." β
"In fact, all of our available devices have been searching for several cycles." Mary Hill reminded faintly, "But we're not making any progress yet. β
"Soon it will be." Tony said firmly, but his voice was clearly irritated, "All we need is the right frequency, a band, or ......"
"You've got something new, sir." Jarvis reminded.
"Huh?" Tony was puzzled for a moment, "Who sent it?" β
"Sender unknown. The tracker is automatically enabled, but the request has been intercepted. β
Tony frowned. Although there was no evidence, he vaguely seemed to guess the identity of the sender. After all, there weren't many people on this planet who could ignore the Aegis firewall - especially in the face of the firewall he had upgraded.
There was no text, no instructions, just a string of numbersβa coordinate.
Jarvis, the intelligent housekeeper, did not need to give an order to automatically enter the coordinates into the map, and then quickly calculated and locked the position where the coordinates pointed.
That's a port. Tony simultaneously summoned a satellite directly above the coordinates and locked onto a swarthy cargo ship.
"Prepare, Jarvis." Tony stepped back as he began to take off his coat and handed it to Hill, "We'll go over now." β
"But...... Director Stark," Hill frowned, "with a string of coordinates that I don't know who sent it, you're ready to ......"
"I know who sent it." Tony's armor was already covering him as he spoke, "Arrange for me to have a squad ready to clean up the battle, and notify the local authorities to block the port." It might get lively over there after a while. β
