Chapter 44: The Controller

As night falls, fine rains begin to fall in the sky, and bright lights illuminate every street and alley of New York City one after another. The blonde girl flew up and down the walls of the buildings, running quickly.

She walked over a small half of New York City to the outside of an eerie factory. Like a macaque, she climbed over the three-meter-high iron fence and half-crouched down in the dark courtyard.

Gwen took a hard breath, trying to suppress the uneasiness in her heart, and walked forward cautiously.

There was no light source in the huge factory, and the darkness shrouded everything silently, wrapping the tall factories and buildings into a craggy shape, and the cool wind passed through the cracks in the doors, and the cold pierced people's spine.

Gwen was starting to retreat, and the burning sting didn't stop for a moment since she jumped into the warehouse (but she didn't know it was a warning of "spider sense" danger). She couldn't say why, but a gut feeling had imprinted the address into her mind, like a map with GPS navigation.

The door of the factory was unlocked, so she lifted the nearly five-meter-high gate with force and slumped into it. The inside is dark and dark, and the fingers are even more invisible than the outside. The tingling led her way to the entrance to a basement, where she lifted the heavy steel plate with the knocker to reveal a staircase that went diagonally down.

Gwen groped her way down the stairs, a faint white light vaguely illuminating the outline of the stairs. She descended to the bottom and found herself in a dimly lit metal room. A man sat in a swivel chair with his back to the entrance, four slump metal tentacles stretched out from behind him, cast by the dim light on the wall, four slender black shadows.

Gwen noticed that her heart was starting to get out of control, and she tried to hide her uneasiness by asking, "Who are you?" ”

"I've been waiting for you for a long time, I know you're going to come to me." The man's voice was muddy, "It's just that I didn't expect that the first one to find it would be you...... What an unexpected surprise. ”

The swivel chair slowly turned, revealing the man's grim face. He wore flat hair, dark green lenses, a decent black suit, and four metal arms swinging behind him like tentacles.

Gwen recognized him.

"Otto Octavius, Doctor Octopus?" She was surprised, "Didn't you get caught by Spider-Man?" ”

"Yes, it is me, your Creator." Otto crossed his hands to support his chin, "I've had a problem with my memory for the past few days, and I couldn't string together the bits and pieces of my brain — and that's all thanks to the failed Oz human experiment in Osborne's lab. The explosion in the lab affected my sanity, and oh, and by the way, stuck this thing on me that I couldn't get rid of it again. ”

He manipulated a tentacle with his mind to reach out in front of him, and his sharp claws "clicked" twice in the air.

"It was very painful at first, but the control center of the four extra arms fused directly into my spinal cord, which made me feel terrible pain." "But very quickly I learned to control them and live with them." I picked myself up and tried to build a new lab and start my business again...... Until that abominable Spider-Man appeared and thwarted my plans again and again. ”

"But you were trying to rob a bank and steal equipment from someone else's lab." Gwen frowned, "He's just doing good. ”

"Those who have become great things since ancient times are not informal." "For a long time I was annoyed by that hateful wall creeper," said Otto, "but I couldn't remember who he was because of memory problems. But after being thrown into prison by Spider-Man, I started to have a lot of time to reminisce and organize my thoughts...... Then I finally remembered the accident in Osborne's lab, the Oz serum, and Spider-Man's identity. ”

He smiled, "So you see, in a sense, it's thanks to Spider-Man's help. I was the senior leader of the Oz serum program when I first started working in Osborne, so I knew the Oz equation and how it worked. So I threw out an offer to the CIA, told them Spider-Man's secrets, and promised them that I could build more......" He paused and spread his hands...... So, there you guys, my most perfect works. ”

Gwen bit her lip and clenched her fists, "You did this to us......"

"I created you." Otto corrected, "In other words, I am your Creator. Your life, your destiny belongs to me, and the purpose of your birth is to serve me. ”

"No, you're not." Gwen was no longer afraid, and a torch-like glare shot out of her emerald green eyes, "The meaning of life is created by herself, and it does not belong to God, nor to anyone, and certainly not to a mad scientist who nests in a basement and daydreams. ”

"Well, interesting." Otto was not angry, only showed an expression of interest, "It seems that someone has instilled some strange thoughts in you. But that's okay, I'll do the necessary adjustments when I catch you, and you'll be more than happy to serve me then. ”

The sound of steel plates being lifted again in the direction of the entrance was heard, and multiple footsteps approached along the stairs. Gwen subconsciously turned around and found two Spider-Mans with a blue-black uniform and a red cape appearing at the top of the staircase.

They were stunned like lightning at the moment when they met Gwen's eyes.

"Ge...... Gwen......? ”

"Hi, Peter." Otto sat back in his chair and chuckled, "Meet Gwen Stacy, Spider-Woman, the clone I made for you." Isn't it impressive? ”

Peter recovered from the shock and clenched his fists, almost spewing fire into Otto's gaze.

"Otto ......"

He couldn't take it anymore and jumped past Gwen and lunged at Otto in desperation.

"What have you done!"

A cold air stream chased after him, the chill tingling the back of his neck with the warning of spider sensing. Peter reacted with great speed, and his body was misshaped, and something that seemed to be a long strip swept past his neck.

Peter didn't have time to think about it, when a new sting followed. He flew sideways, flipped sideways in the air, and changed several directions in an instant. Strangely shaped weapons struck one after another under the cover of darkness, and the air flow was like clubs and spears. Peter dodged several times, and finally one of them was accidentally struck in the lower abdomen by a steel arm, and the huge force weighing more than ten tons was overwhelming, and he was almost shattered.

Only then did a few people notice that there was much more to the four tentacles behind the doctor than was hidden in this darkness. Countless steel tentacles swim silently like black snakes hidden underwater, waiting for an opportunity to move, ready to strike the deadliest blow at the prey that strays into the room.

Otto slowly rose from his swivel chair, metal tentacles dancing wildly behind him.

"You see, as I said earlier, I'm finally getting used to living with these cold machines." "Actually, I'm even starting to enjoy it." I upgraded the nerve links that bind to my spinal cord and amplified the signals so that I could command more arms. The arm I have now...... There are far more than four. ”
