Chapter 45: Doctor Octopus (Three Watches)
Metal tentacles sprang through the shadows, steel claws stabbing out from every corner of the room. Ben Riley's suspicions were right, Doctor Octopus had indeed set a trap for them, and the room itself was a huge cage full of murderous machines.
Otto seems to have deliberately made all of his new robotic arms pure black alloys, which come and go like fish in water in this dimly lit space. The four Spider-Men rely on the early warning mechanism of spider sensing to predict and dodge, relying on their flexible and changeable body skills to fly between tight attacks, but they are also quite difficult to deal with.
Although the four Spider-Men are strengthened people, if they hide like this, their physical strength will run out sooner or later, and if they can't get close to Doctor Octopus himself, they will never have a chance to win. After fighting for less than a cigarette, the four of them had narrowed the battle to a circle of four or five meters from Otto's radius. But as the radius decreases, so does the resistance from those robotic arms. Each step forward had to face a tentacle attack that was several times denser than before, and each tentacle castration was more rapid.
Ben Riley took advantage of the attention of the other three to attract the main attention, and he quietly circled the left flank while dodging the attack, flying up two steps against the wall, leaping from a height of more than four meters above the ground, and rushing straight over Otto's head.
Otto didn't lift his head, as if he didn't even notice the threat coming from above him. However, in the shadow of the ceiling, a mechanical arm shot out and volleyed Ben Riley's waist, sending him flying hard.
Kane scrambled to the right flank and tried to shoot the silk from the corner of Otto's vision. Otto didn't blink, a mechanical arm bounced up on its own as if it had a spirit to protect its master, and the steel claws were tightly wrapped around the silk thread twice. The mechanical arm lifted Kane off the ground along the silk thread with great force, and slammed it against the wall, two steel claws pressing his hands against the wall one after the other.
At this point, only the original Peter Parker and Clone Gwen were left in the field. Otto mentally controlled countless arms to fight them, and laughed loudly: "Your struggle is funny and pointless. I am your Creator, and I have given you these powersβeven yours, Peter. It was I who helped Osborne launch the Oz project, and it was I who developed the serum that created the original Spider-Man. Do you think there will be a chance in the face of me? β
Peter is a rare day without a poor response. At this moment, he was already angry, and he felt that he had never hated anyone so much in his life. He fought his back and forced a whip to break through to three steps in front of Otto, but after all, he couldn't dodge the sharp stab of the mechanical arm from the left and was slammed in the jaw.
Otto manipulated another robotic arm to grab Peter's back from behind, throwing him to the ceiling, pressing his lower abdomen and pinning him to the ground.
Peter's failed attempt finally created an opportunity for Gwen. She also managed to break through the siege and rushed all the way to Otto just three steps away. The two tentacles struck from the left and right sides at different angles, and both were avoided by the girl with an ingenious and admirable figure. Her figure swirled, her blonde hair fluttering, and she finally reached Otto. She raised her right fist and was about to strike it, only to be strangled by a steel claw when the tip of the fist was barely inches away from Otto's obnoxious nose.
It was the robotic arm behind Otto, the four arms that were originally attached to him, and the four that he was most skilled in handling and moving the most precisely and quickly.
The mechanical claws tied Gwen's hands together with irresistible force, lifting her up in the air. She tried to raise her leg and kick at the hateful face in front of her, and the powerful wind on her toes blew Otto's head slightly, but in the end she was not able to hurt him by the slightest margin.
"I've implanted the coordinates here in the minds of all of you." Otto said slowly, "You're going to come back here anyway, because that's what you're set for, a suggestive hypnosis technique." This ensures that even if you get away with it, you will eventually come back here and meet me here. β
Otto grinned, and his eyes fell on Gwen, who was hanging in front of him by the mechanical claw: "After all, there is no way to escape from Dad, don't you say?" β
"You're a psychopath." Gwen gritted her teeth.
"Great people are often said just because mortals can't understand it. But you'll understand, after all, you're all my children. Your physical and ability data are basically up to standard, and I will perform further memory adjustments on you in the next step. I will erase your unnecessary memories and save only what is necessary...... Or maybe modify a little bit of personality or something. β
Otto paused, and the dark green lenses turned to Peter, who was nailed to the ceiling.
"As for you, this original Spider-Man," he sneered, "before you die, I'll make sure to drain every drop of value out of you...... In return for the trouble you've given me. β
Peter tried to break the arm holding his abdomen on the ceiling with all his might: "I'll kill you, Otto." β
"I doubt it."
Otto's gaze turned back to Gwen, and the girl's stubborn face was reflected in the dark green lenses.
"You're my proudest and best work." Otto said, "I designed you to modify your memories and make you hate Spider-Man. Then I need you to come near to him, to destroy his life, to destroy his will, until he has lost all hope and given up everything, and then to end his life. β
He snorted heavily.
"But it's very unfortunate that an uninteresting outsider attacked the lab and kidnapped you before I could perform the memory session." Otto said coldly, "He ruined my plans and ruined my greatest pleasures. β
"That's my luck." Gwen said coldly.
"Really? Not so for that guy. Otto asked in a deep voice, "Tell me my name." Who is that person? Who attacked the lab? Who took you out of the training pod? β
"I don't know." Gwen replied dryly.
"It's not a good habit to lie, Dad didn't educate you that way." Otto increased the force of the mechanical claw that grabbed her wrist, and the strong grip of the metal structure seemed to pinch the soft sound of bone in her bare wrist.
Gwen bit her lip and ignored him in pain.
"Let her go!" Peter thumped the mechanical arm in the abdomen hard, but he couldn't shake the thing for half a minute.
Otto ignored him and continued: "You still want to protect him, it's good. But you'll get to it eventually. You'll tell me his name, his address, and ......"
Otto's pupils closed, and his body suddenly leaned back almost reflexively. The flame-colored frisbee swirled and sliced from the depths of darkness, dragging a bright trajectory to the ground, severing Otto's proud mechanical arm like a melon and a vegetable. The half-lost robotic arm crashed to the ground with a spark, and Gwen lost her restraints and regained her freedom.
Otto broke out in a cold sweat - if he hadn't instinctively reacted to dodge just now, it would have been more than just such a metal arm that had been severed just now. He jerked his head back and yelled in exasperation, "Who!? β
The fluorescence lit up, and the pale blue light outlined a "V" shaped loop in mid-air. Black armor floated through the room as if out of thin air, and pale blue flames sprayed from his back helped him stabilize in midair.
He extinguished the levitating propulsion flame and landed on the ground with a low thud of heavy metal.
Otto subconsciously took a step back.
"You want to see me." The black armor slowly raised its head, "I'm here." β
