Chapter Eighty-Four: This Level

The park covers an extensive area.

As far as the eye can see, the park is surrounded by layers of deep and shallow green vegetation or clusters of brightly colored flowers.

These plants grow unchecked, and after losing the careful pruning of humans, they exude the charm of nature.

Chi You's footsteps on the park's gravel path, occasionally stepping on a fallen branch or a fallen leaf, making a slight "click" sound. Add to that the occasional sound of the wind stirring the leaves, and that's all the Chiyou heard.

Along the way, Chiyou didn't find any traces of zombies on the paths in the park. This abnormal phenomenon made Chiyou more vigilant.

Perhaps it was his delusion, he always felt that behind the dense bushes, there were countless pairs of ill-intentioned eyes watching him, and when he was not aware of it, he would pounce on him, bite him by the throat, and drag him to the unknown.

And now, the only thing Chiyou can do is to try to slow down his steps and not trigger any possible danger.

The path turned to the left a short distance ahead. Chiyou looked out into the quiet grove directly ahead for a moment, but decided to continue along the path, taking a detour at most, his instincts reminding him that it would be an unwise choice to walk into this not-so-dense wood.

Chiyou turned left along the road, and suddenly the sky in front of him became empty and spacious, and an artificial lake appeared in front of him.

The water of the artificial lake is dark green, the algae in the water are growing wildly, and some fish with their bellies facing upwards float in the murky water. The lake water emitted a fishy smell, and even though Chi You's sense of smell was not up to the standard of a normal human, he couldn't help but frown when he smelled it.

Chiyou stood on the edge of the lake and looked around, and found that the destination of his trip was on the shore of the artificial lake, and a winding landscape bridge was erected over the lake, zigzag to his destination. If he crossed through the woods, he could save at least half the distance, but Chiyou's instincts made him choose to step on this winding landscape bridge.

As soon as he stepped onto the bridge, the water near the shore began to churn, and a series of bubbles appeared, and several figures swayed out of the mud and stood in the not deep water on the shore.

Chi You stopped vigilantly, his eyes fixed on the swollen, white and festering figures. Unlike their brothers on land, the image of these zombies lying in the lake for some reason was so miserable that Chiyou's stomach that didn't vomit couldn't help but start churning.

The zombies in the water turned their heads with difficulty, turning their faces towards Chiyou, their faces so swollen and twisted that they couldn't see what they once were, now just a pile of rotten white flesh.

The two sides looked at each other silently for a moment, and then, just like the reaction of the zombies on land, the zombies in the water also lost interest in Chiyou. Several zombies slowly fell back into the water, their movements stirring up patches of mud and bubbles once more. When the churned lake calmed down again, the dark green turbid lake once again covered the figures of these zombies, and there was no clue to be seen, I don't know if the next time these zombies get up, it will bring some surprises or frightens to the next visitor.

Chiyou picked up his steps again and continued to walk along the landscape bridge towards his destination. Along the way, several waves of zombies soaked in the water stood up, and as the lake deepened, the last wave of zombies stood up and only showed half of their heads. Chiyou didn't stop to observe the zombies' reactions, but walked slowly at a speed that was not in a hurry. Seeing these zombies in the water, one thought after another came to his mind.

After walking all the way in the park, I didn't see any zombies on land, could it be that the zombies in the park all ran into this artificial lake?

Since zombies can move in the water, can Chiyou also try to move in the water in the future?

What's in the woods? Why do you let yourself have a feeling similar to instinct in your heart, refusing to approach?

……

In the midst of these questions and thoughts, Chiyou has already walked through most of the landscape bridge, and his destination has been clearly revealed in front of his eyes.

It was a large cluster of buildings, and it appeared very abruptly in the park. The upper floors of the complex are modern in white, but the first and second floors of the buildings are strangely covered with dark green vines. The vines intertwined and weaved into a net that closed the windows on the first and second floors of the building, leaving only a gap in the entrance of the building for human access.

These vines give the complex a touch of age, like an ancient castle that has been abandoned for a long time. Whether the castle is full of treasures or a sleeping dragon, it's time for Chiyou to explore.

Chiyou walked safely all the way to the door of the building, this glass door turned out to be a sensor door, and after Chiyou approached, the door quietly slid open to both sides.

The moment the door opened, a cold aura wafted out of the building. Chi You knew that this cold breath was definitely not his illusion, and it was definitely not as simple as the air conditioning in the hospital in the city. There is indeed a chilling atmosphere in this building. Although Chi You, who was standing at the door, didn't hear any sound coming from the building, he could faintly hear a burst of painful and unwilling howls and cries in his heart, which made people feel cold.

Chiyou steadied himself and walked into the door, which closed silently behind him.

The building was lit with numerous incandescent lamps, but the light of these lamps seemed to be trapped in an invisible cage, and they could only struggle dimly in a small area. In contrast to the bright lights, the more and deeper shadows in the building appear more dim and dignified. Walking in this building, from Chi You's gaze, it seemed that layers of black fog were lingering around him all the time, making it impossible for him to focus his eyes on the farther ahead.

Chiyou tried to keep his feet as light as possible to keep himself from making any noise, but in the silence, the sound of his shoes hitting the ground still "clicked" on the smooth ground. The only thing he can do is to make his steps lighter, lighter.

After a few steps, a table emerged from the dark mist, with three dark red words on it, and a rotating chair at the back of the table, which was empty.

Guide table.

The three dark red words clearly expressed their meaning. Chi You looked at the three words, and always felt that the dark red color was the same paint as the welcome message he had seen before entering the rookie training ground. Perhaps, it's just dried blood.

Chi You walked into some, and under the three words of "guide table", he found a few slightly lighter red palm prints. This strengthened his suspicion of the pigment of the text.

Chiyou didn't want to approach the desk, he wanted to go around it quietly, but when he lifted his footsteps, a slight "crunch" sound came into his ears.

He jerked in the direction where the voice came from, and the empty chair behind the desk immediately burst into his eyes.

He stared at the chair for a few seconds, nothing happened, and the slight "crunch" sound seemed to be just an illusion that his nerves were too tense.

He tentatively lifted his steps again, as if he were taking a step next to him. The shoe landed lightly on the ground, but his gaze remained on the chair.

"Crunch".

Something happened that made Chiyou's scalp tingle. The chair, which was obviously empty on it, made a soft noise again, and at the same time, the chair rotated slightly at a slight angle, still facing his direction.

Chiyou kept his foot moving and stiffened for a few seconds, nothing continuing to happen. The building was still silent, and the chair didn't make any noise or rotate any more. It was all as if to tell him that it was just his delusion.

Chiyou took another step.

"Crunch". Again, the chair made a slight noise, adjusted its angle, and turned head-on to Chiyou.
