Captain Church's diary file was pulled to the last page, and Aoki found that the previous pages were all written in, without dates, and only named after "Church's Diary" plus a numerical number, apparently someone had sorted out the diary and cut out some inconsequential chapters of life on the ship. Despite this, the diaries are also very detailed, giving a complete account of the events.
However, the strange thing is that the last diary is not a text entry, but a picture pasted. Although the image has been processed, the texture of the crumpled paper and the traces of being soaked in water can still be seen.
The diary consists of just two words and three exclamation points β "Toar, Godbless!! The handwriting is very sloppy, there are no spaces between the words, the comma in the middle and the exclamation point at the back are exaggerated, apparently written in a very urgent situation. There are also four numbers next to it, "1225", which probably means December 25th, which should occur on the second day of Christmas Eve mentioned in the previous article.
According to Captain Church's diary, Mrs. Larry had a conversation with Stone before Robbins asked him to return at full speed. The equipment on their ship must have been broken at the time, so it was impossible to return west to New Zealand, and most likely to head north to the Tubuai Islands.
The wreckage and the diary were found on several deserted islands in the southern part of the Tubuai archipelago, which is consistent with the description in the diary.
In other words, they encountered an accident while sailing north at full speed.
What could have happened?
What does "Toar" mean?
Is it a place called "Tawwo"? Or is "toard" omitting a d, meaning to be close to a certain target? Or if there is a space in the middle of "To ar", that is the meaning of war.
If we analyze the information obtained so far that the research ship Discovery was attacked by overheated weapons, it is more in line with speculation that the battle or attack will be carried out. But who will attack a research ship at sea, and with the word "ar"?
Aoki showed the diary to Professor Mei and Su Huilan.
Mei Yiqiu thought for a long time and said: "Although the Discovery is a scientific research ship, it is equipped with weapons systems, and ordinary pirates can't help them. But it doesn't seem to make sense to say that it was the regular army that attacked them. In that area, the destruction of a large research ship carrying so many scientists, once such an act is known, no government can bear the pressure of public opinion. β
"Could that be the U.S. military? They have the strength to hide the truth. Mei Ziqing asked.
"Impossible." Su Huilan said, "If the U.S. military did it, they could have handled it cleanly, and there would have been no subsequent search and rescue operations, and we would not have been able to see Church's diary." β
Mei Ziqing insisted: "Is it possible that they are thieves shouting to catch thieves?" Otherwise, why were they reluctant to make the captain's diary public and hide it? β
"It's unlikely, judging from the contents of Church's diary, the loss of contact between them and us was purely accidental, and no one could have predicted that the equipment on their ship was out of order. With the scientific and technological equipment and defense capabilities on the Explorer, if it were not for the failure of communication, it would not have been possible to be wiped out silently. The U.S. government wouldn't be stupid enough to take such a risk, and if they wanted to eliminate the Discovery or the people on board, they could have sent out FBI agents, which is their usual method, and would not use the power of the military. β
Su Huilan added: "Assuming that the Discovery was indeed attacked by force, the purpose of the attackers should have been to destroy it, or kill someone on board, and the retreat was hasty and did not clean the battlefield. In this regard, it looks more like piracy, or an impromptu operation. β
Mei Ziqing said: "But it is also possible that they bumped into some actions of the military, such as the tsunami, and the diary also speculated that it might be a nuclear test by the military?" And all the electronic equipment on the ship was broken, more like it was attacked by electronic pulse bombs. Also, what happened to the three people who were rescued? Is it possible that he is an FBI agent? β
Mei Yiqiu said: "The Oriental man who was rescued should be Situ. β
"Ahh In fact, she was a little suspicious, because Church boasted about the appearance of Mr. Stone in his diary, which immediately reminded her of the handsome man she had seen in Copenhagen.
Aoki didn't interject, closing his eyes and thinking about the cause and effect of this matter. He remembered another life that Zhao Pengcheng experienced in his dream, he couldn't tell whether that world was true or not, but what happened in it was by no means out of nowhere, it must be developed according to a certain logic of the real world, probably belonging to the category of parallel worlds, and the premise of occurrence and non-occurrence may be a certain opportunity, or the existence or absence of him and the crow.
He remembers that in that world, Cohen established a base in the Cook Islands, which eventually emerged victorious in the war of invasion and counter-invasion.
"Is the Cook Islands close to there?" Aoki asked.
Su Huilan said: "It's close. The Discovery's previous activity and wreckage were in the southern waters of the Tobuai Islands, while the Cook Islands are between Polynesia and Fiji, almost next to each other in the northwest of the Tobuai Islands. β
Aoki nodded and said, "I guess it was the people of the Dream Society who did it, and Cohen probably went there." β
"How do you know?" The others asked almost at the same time.
Aoki didn't explain, but said, "I think I'll have to go as soon as possible." I had a feeling that things weren't over there, that Cohen and Szeto were there. And I just got the news that Dewar also went. β
Mei Yiqiu raised her eyelids and asked, "Who is Dewar?" β
Aoki then remembered that he might not have told Mei Yiqiu about Dewar, or he couldn't remember clearly, and he often felt a little uneasy and distracted about everything he had experienced in southern Yunnan and Burma-Vietnam, whether it was because of the secret of the alliance or because he had killed too many people, but he had never told anyone in its entirety.
"One person who might be able to help us," he said. β
Mei Yiqiu asked casually, and did not continue to investigate, but the expression on Su Huilan's face was secretive, and she glanced at Aoki, not knowing what she was thinking.
"Since you're going, you guys should prepare and go early." Mei Yiqiu said.
When he said you, you were referring to Aoki and Su Huilan, and it was originally because Su Huilan was going to the investigation team that Aoki was asked to follow.
"I've already said hello to the investigation team, and Professor Su's information has been passed on, so Aoki will go over as Professor Su's assistant."
Aoki said, "I want to bring my crows over, but it's very troublesome to leave the country, and I don't know if it's too late." β
Su Huilan frowned and said, "Do you still have to take a pet when you go out to run errands?" β
Aoki said, "On the sea, there is an obedient bird, and it may come in handy." β
"Looks like you like small animals, and you're a trainer." Su Huilan smiled noncommittally, "As long as you're not afraid that your bird will be lost at sea, I'll figure out something else." β
