Chapter 5: Akeya's Diary (April 27, Part II)

"That's right, the Colonel called her over as soon as there were no men. With her here, maybe you two can calm down. Otherwise, the future tasks will really not be able to be done. Jade told me with a smile.

The one who knows "nameless", except for the three members of us and the school, is Lily. Injuries are inevitable during operations and training, but because of our special status, it is somewhat inconvenient to be treated in the hospital. So the Colonel brought in Lily, who was our age but one of the best surgeons in the army.

From the second year after Tokar and I entered the army, the colonel arranged for us one full-time doctor after another. He explained our peculiarity for various reasons, and asked the doctors to treat us without revealing secrets (in fact, they didn't know the truth).

Lily is the fourth, having joined the Silver Wing as a volunteer three years ago. Unlike the previous doctors, the colonel told her about the "nameless", and I don't know what the reason was. Presumably, the Colonel trusted her so much that he even allowed her to have contact with us outside of treatment. For the first time in my daily life with Tokar, I stepped into an outsider.

This girl gives me a strange feeling. When I talk to her, I often speak incoherently and are at a loss. She also has a very good relationship with Tokar. Last year we moved with the troops to the Alpha region, and she remained at the headquarters due to lack of manpower. I haven't heard much from her in a year. However, when she is mentioned in the chat, that cute smiling face will still emerge clearly.

I finished my meal as fast as I could, ran to the fight training room, not far from my dorm, where I found Tokar.

When he's not angry, he goes to the training room to vent, and today is no exception. He frantically swung his fists and kicks at the training dummy standing there, and the final side kick cut the dummy in two, and he stood still, gasping for air.

I walked over: "Broke another one, don't you think the logistics complaining words are bad enough?" ”

"Whatever," Tokar said in reply, "it's not the first time anyway. ”

"Lily will be back in the afternoon." I threw out the killer idea.

It worked, and Tokar immediately leaned in, his tone becoming brisk.

"Really?"

"What the Major said is absolutely true."

"yes, no wonder she sent a message lately......"

Tokar muttered a few words, his expression less tense than he had just been.

"So don't break out here, let's go, let's go have a few drinks and wait for her by the way."

"Okay."

Tokar readily agreed, picked up the clothes on the floor, and walked out with me. When I got to the door, I suddenly thought about it.

"Her latest message ......"

Tokar and Lily, have they been communicating with each other?

*****

Not far to the south of the base, there is a small town called Catolanna, with only about 3,000 residents, but there are many shops that sell quite a lot of things, and it is much more lively than other places. Perhaps because of its proximity to the base of the peacekeeping force, it is not affected by armed conflict. The inhabitants have a good impression of the peacekeepers, greet the uniformed people warmly, and we treat the town as a paradise outside the battlefield.

There is a small bar in the centre of town, small place, very clean. When we're not working, Tokar and I used to go to town to buy something and then go to the bar for a drink.

It was just after lunchtime, and there were not many people in the bar. We beckoned to the boss and sat down. The owner is an uncle in his 50s, with a thick beard and a plain and clean cloth dress. He smiled at us and greeted us in broken Ang, the world's most common language, and Tokar casually replied in the local Arar language

After a while, the owner brought us what we used to drink. I like to drink the local drink "Five Flavor Juice", and Tokar wants the North Iceberg beer, which he likes to drink. I never touch alcohol, it gives me a splitting headache.

"Speaking of Lily, you're in a much better mood."

After a few sips each, I said to Tokar. I don't know if it's the effect of alcohol, Tokar scratched his head and smiled.

"It's okay."

"Then stop holding a grudge against the Colonel. The whole regiment of soldiers was his brother, and it was impossible for him to remain indifferent to what had happened. ”

Tokar was silent, gulping down his beer, then asking for another glass.

"Akeya, I don't hold a grudge against the Colonel, he is our benefactor, and I will never forget that."

"That morning......

"I just feel like we're clearly working for the military and helping them clear the way. We were doing the right thing, but we had to hide like a bunch of fugitives, and we had to face the pursuit of the Ministry of Intelligence. ”

His mood that had just calmed down fluctuated again, and his hand slapped on the table, and the boss who was pouring wine couldn't help but look up.

"It can't be helped, after all, our work is special." I explained.

"No, it has nothing to do with this."

"Why?"

"The colonel has been in the army for decades, with great achievements in battle, and he has exhausted his efforts for the troops. He stood in his current position with his strength, and in the end, wasn't he also made things difficult by those villains? ”

This time it was my turn to be silent, I didn't expect Tokar to be such an insightful man who was usually a hot-blooded man. Compared to him, I feel like I'm really bad.

The boss brought the beer, and Tokar took it and took a sip.

"In this place, if you make some achievements, you will be excluded by others, and you will not be able to show it at all."

I can somewhat understand Tokar's words. His hometown is a small town in Zudra, a small country on the continent of Anzhou. Zudra is a place where war rages all year round. When he was 7 years old, the town was attacked by terrorists, and three trucks loaded with explosives rushed into the crowd celebrating the holiday, including Tokar's parents, and he was orphaned.

With nowhere else to go, Tokar was captured by a gang of looters and trafficked from Zudra to the Arctic Realm, but he escaped and was taken in by the same orphanage we had been in. This experience naturally made him full of hatred for terrorists and all evil forces, and he had the jealous and hateful character he has now.

I knew that it would make him uncomfortable in "Nameless", and on several occasions when he was on a mission, he would kill people against orders, eager to kill all his enemies. But we are military personnel, and we cannot let personal emotions control ourselves and influence the mission. A person who is dominated by hatred is no different from a terrorist.

In this regard, I think I am doing okay.

"Akeya, have you ever thought about what you will do in the future?" Tokar asked suddenly.

Future? I was stunned for a moment, thought for a moment, and replied, "Horse leather shroud, died on the battlefield, that's all." ”

For a soldier, this was the most reasonable ending, but Tokar shook his head.

"It's not worth my life, I'll leave someday. I'm going to do what I really want to do. ”

I didn't answer, drank the juice in my cup, and pondered his words.

What can we do without this?

Unlike our peers who lived peaceful lives, our childhood was distorted and abnormal. Two years ago, together with the Colonel, on behalf of the Silver Wings, we visited a secondary school that had been rebuilt after the war, just as the Colonel had visited our orphanage. We watched the students go to class, go out to exercise, play ball, chase, and I saw all of them with smiles on their faces, happy smiles.

But this smile made me feel indescribable in my heart - they were happy, but the more I looked at them, the more uncomfortable I became, and I didn't know how to express this feeling. Tokar told me it was jealousy, and maybe, I was a little jealous of them. But when I think that my job is to protect their well-being, I feel a lot more relieved.

So, life in the army is all I have, and all I can do is follow the colonel and fight.

*****

At 1420, we returned to base. At the west gate of the base, I happened to see a car driving to the door, and as soon as the door opened, a familiar figure appeared in front of me.

It's Lily.

She wore the same uniform as us, but with a short skirt. The round face and bright eyes, thin hands and legs give this outfit a new definition. After getting out of the car, she walked to the trunk, dragged a large suitcase out of it, closed the door, waved to the driver, and the car drove away. The guards knew her, and they didn't need to verify her identity, so they let her in. Further on, we were seen.

"Tokar, Akya, you're waiting for me, I'm so happy!"

This crisp and pleasant, silver bell-like sound still sounds so beautiful after a year. Lily is not tall, and although she is in her 20s, she still has the face of a little girl. She dragged her suitcase and walked briskly towards us, the blue ribbon in her short ponytail swaying from side to side with her hair.

Tokar took the suitcase from Lily first.

"Tired on the road, aren't you?"

"It's fine," Lily said with a smile, wiping the hair from her forehead, "It's been a year, and I'm glad to see you again." Is the colonel okay? What about Mr. Jed? ”

I said, "Both of them are fine. ”

Tokar also said, "Yes, the Colonel is still the same as before, busy until nine or ten o'clock every day, and his spirits are full. Jed, too, nagging in our ears every day. ”

Lily laughed again, looking at her smiling face, I didn't know what to say. We walked side by side, all the way to the colonel's office. Lily stood in front of the Colonel, saluting a little playfully as standard.

"Colonel, Lily Pistra, report for duty."

"Good work, Lily," said the Colonel, "and let the two of them help you pack your luggage in a moment." I haven't seen you for a year, but I've become pretty again. ”

"Hehe, I'm still in my formative years."

"Okay, I'm looking forward to your growth." The Colonel touched Lily's head, then said to Tokar and me, "I have something to talk to Lily about, so you can put her luggage in that empty dormitory." ”

Tokar and I exited and closed the door, and I saw that Tokar's expression was completely relaxed, and the anger of the morning was gone. He dragged his suitcase and walked in front, and I followed.

"What's wrong, Akeya? Hurry up. Tokar urged.

It occurred to me that I hadn't finished cleaning today, so I said, "Go ahead, I still have some work to do." ”

"Alright, I'll see you in the cafeteria in the evening."

I turned and walked to the stairs on the other side and exited through the side door. I ran with an indescribable irritability in my heart, and maybe devoting myself to work would calm me down.

In 1530, I did all the work I could think of, and it was as fast as I could, and the sweat I shed made me forget those inexplicable irritability. It was still early for dinner, but I didn't want to calm myself down. At this time, there should be no one at the indoor shooting range, so I'll go and do some activity.

Compared to Tokar, who is good at melee combat, I focus more on shooting training. When I first joined Nameless, the colonel tested us and said I felt better about the gun, so I worked shooting.

The targets in the indoor range are controlled by machines, which can make the targets stand still or move, and are divided into multiple levels, the higher the level, the more numerous, and the speed can also be adjusted for soldiers to choose the most suitable training method. Ordinary soldiers choose the 60-speed of the B-class or A-class, which is 80-speed at most, but I directly chose the 100-speed of the S-class and pressed the start button.

As soon as the start of training sounded, 15 humanoid targets flew in front of me, and they stayed in front of me for a second at most, and then disappeared into the wall.

I'll let the targets fly over and see how they move. When they reappear, pick up the rifle and shoot continuously. One by one, the targets were hit and fixed in place. The monitor next to me quickly showed the results: 9 headshots, 4 in the chest, 2 in the abdomen.

I frowned, this is not the level I should be, I was not very decisive when I shot just now, and in normal times, 13 or 14 headshots are no problem at all.

"Wow, that's amazing, your marksmanship is still as good as before!"

Suddenly Lily's voice came from behind her, and she clapped her hands and stepped forward, and I looked at her in a daze, and I didn't even notice it just now. Lily slapped me on the chest, her eyebrows fluttering.

"How's that, sharpshooter, let's go out for a bite to eat in the evening?"

Is it going to Catolanna? Without even thinking about it, I nodded yes and followed Lily out of the range. That's when I saw Tokar standing outside. Again, Lily was able to find me because Tokar told her.

"Let's go, Akya, let's go out to eat today, it's kind of a catch for Lily."

"Hmm."

Although it was a pick-up, it wasn't time for dinner yet, so we walked around town. Lily was in the Alpha region for the first time, and she was intrigued by the local customs, like a curious tourist, asking this and that, Tokar patiently explained to her. I realized that Tokar knew a lot more than just fighting, and I couldn't talk about it in this case.

Watching them walk around, I felt like a person. Of course, Tokar was happy, Lily was happy, and I was happy, but it was as if I was wrapped in something and couldn't fully release it. This state lasted for more than half an hour, and seeing that the sky was starting to get dark, we finally shook to the front of the hotel.

Tokar was about to go inside, but Lily grabbed him and said to me, "It's still a bright place, why don't we take a picture together?" ”

"Alright, where's Tokar?"

"Of course, no problem, I'll take a picture."

So Tokar was on the left, I was on the right, and Lily stood in the middle, handing Tokar the camera she was carrying. Tokar held his camera aloft, his lens pointed at us.

"Come here, be happy, it's time to start."

As she spoke, Lily smiled herself and made a triumphant gesture. Tokar smiled calmly. It's harder for me than fighting Tren. After adjusting it, I barely laughed.

After I went back, I carefully kept this picture in the closet. The moment Lily's smile is locked is really beautiful, I didn't know that photos can have such a touching charm. Well, at least from now on, I'm going to leave myself more moments like this.
