Appendix 2: Magic
As early as the days when humans across the sea were chasing sheep, the elves began to delve into this gift from heaven. The elves of the pen "Fun" www.biquge.info called Anor, which means sun, and the etymology caters to the basic common sense of magic, and the sun above us is mixed with magical arcane energy in a warm light. The word "magic" was coined by humans after landing in Midangail, and it means something beyond the norm and inexplicable. Compared to the magic of the elves, humans are like children who have just learned to speak, babbling over and over simple words.
After the founding of the Empire, humans began to have a formal study of magic. Studying them in detail is the first step.
Destruction, a very destructive magical system. Deadly magic, which is flexible and changeable, is the primary means of killing in combat. Especially with the years of human improvement, the system of destruction has become more efficient and terrifying.
The system of change, the most basic way of using Ao Neng, is almost infinite in mystery and possibility. Immortality and eternal youth have tempted countless mages to study it one after another, and problems have arisen with the development of this magic. The most famous is the android paradox, if the magic of change replaces your broken organs with an artificial heart, are you still yourself? If the magic of change replaces your liver at the end of your life, are you still yourself? If your whole body is transformed and you can't survive without a constant supply of arcane energy, are you still yourself?
Hallow system, healing, exorcism, enchantment magic. In the early days, humans classified any mess of magic that could help heal as sacred (mostly due to the placebo effect). Later, thanks to the efforts of the Mage Society, divine magic became a reliable science.
Summoning, which focuses on the magic of summoning golems. Essentially part of the Demon Trade, the Mage offers Arcanes (or Souls) in exchange for powerful battle golems. After studying these simple creatures from Hell, mages can do the same (which is currently the only legal way to summon magic). There are always some pedants and church people who tell the summoners that the insatiable devil will use this form to cause trouble. Most people also generally associate summoning magic with necromancy, and summoning mages in uncivilized places often requires a low profile.
Illusion, deceptive magic. Humans are short-sighted, and if we have never seen the sun, no one will believe in the existence of the sun, no matter how much evidence is given. Doubts and fears allow us to understand the world only through our own pitiful, pathetic perceptions. However, all this is unreliable in the face of illusion.
Curse, hostile magic. The Empire's best curse mage has no way to control this. The term "curse" for humans is biased towards one category of magic. But in Elfish language, the word means curse, resentment. A word, a single thought, can be a source of curse. Even ordinary people who have no magical talent will passively drop curses when driven by strong emotions. There are many objects and ways of cursing, sometimes cursed items, sometimes cursed locations, and of course, cursed people. Curses are so stealthy that enchantments and magic tracking are useless. This dangerous hidden danger can often only be discovered through the conspicuous manifestation of the curse. Interestingly, the strength of a curse has nothing to do with the mage's ability, but rather on the size of the negative feelings.
Bloodline ability, human beings are like stones, and generations of magical training have turned people from embryo stones into statues of art. Arcane flows in the blood, passively turning into magic effects through the delicate machinery of the human body. This exquisite art is so complex that no family has the same blood ability, and even their own relatives will not have the same ability. This ability has been passed down through the bloodline, making people in the wizarding world generally believe that if you don't have a good background, you can't learn magic, and too extreme terms will not be stated here. The effects of Bloodline abilities are irregular, and there is no doubt that they are difficult spells to simulate. A jaw-dropping bloodline ability that is the capital to show off in school.
The above are the seven major magic systems that are currently recognized by mankind.
Some mages will chant spells when casting spells, but spells are not required. It is generally accepted in academia that spells are similar to psychological suggestion, that they allow mages to have a better state of spell casting, and that the use of arcane powers remains at the heart of magic.
Experts and scholars write obscure sentences in books, and mages spend their days in the laboratory. However, the human understanding of magic is still almost at the stage of common sense.
