Chapter 217: Guiding the Way

Pudding's eyes widened in astonishment, "What does this mean?" Could it be that the monk has seen the real Shakyamuni Buddha? ”

I shook my head and said, "It should be unlikely, first of all, the age is not right, the age of Sakyamuni and the monk Guixu was born is 1600 years apart, how can they meet." Secondly, the image in this relief is also wrong, Shakyamuni is a little chubby, and his chin is round, but the old man in the relief is skinny and his chin is also pointed. ”

Pudding asked me, "Then why does this old man call himself Shakyamuni?" ”

I thought for a moment and said, "I guess this sentence of the old man may just be a Buddhist verse, and he calls himself "Nyolai", which may mean similar to the "everything is Nyolai" in the Diamond Sutra. Don't panic, there are several murals in the back, let's move on. ”

Pudding nodded heavily.

Pudding and I cautiously continued to walk, and in a short time we came to the second "relief mural". The mural tells the story of 18 years later: the ruins in the picture are no longer in the form of children, he has grown up, and he and another monk are sitting cross-legged under an old locust tree listening to the old man preach Buddha. Compared with the piety of another monk, the expression of Gui Ruins is very strange. That's right, at this time, he already had a good understanding of the word "Buddha...... Gradually, a certain skepticism arose.

What did the monk of Guixu experience in these eighteen years of practice? I don't know.

The time span of these two murals is too large, and they do not tell us the details of the practice of the monks in the ruins, but I was surprised to find that another young man who originally followed the old man turned out to be a happy monk!

Pudding was stunned: "It turns out that the two of them are brothers in the same sect? ”

I said solemnly, "What kind of way is this?" Love and hate between fellow disciples? ”

Pudding said anxiously, "Let's go and see what the third mural says." ”

I nodded, "Let's go!" ”

……

……

I went with Pudding to the third mural, which was even more eccentric:

In the thirtieth year of returning to the ruins and rejoicing in practice, the old man who called himself "Shakyamuni" passed away. Before the old man died, he summoned all the disciples back to his side, and then passed the mantle to the monk Huanxi.

The ruins in the picture don't seem to care about the "mantle". I admired the skill of this carver, because the expression of the return to the ruins in the reliefs was dazed, but extremely determined. It's decadent, but it's detached. I don't know what happened to Guiruin, but I'm sure he must have seen through something.

In the picture:

After the celestial burial ceremony, the monk was about to leave, but the monk Huanxi stopped him.

Guixu asked Huanxi: "What else is the matter?" ”

The monk said, "Returning to the ruins, where are you going?" Master has just passed away, as a disciple, you should stay in the temple, always be diligent in the Buddha's test, don't make dust, this is what a disciple should do. ”

The monk said: "There is nothing originally, where is the dust? I have been practicing Buddhism for more than 30 years, but the more I practice, the more confused I become. The road of life is boundless, and the road of Buddhism is even more boundless. I'm going to find the true way, so let's do it for yourselves. ”

The Huanxi monk said coldly: "You said that there was nothing originally? ”

He bent down, picked up two stones from the ground, and threw them at the head of the Guixu monk. Gui Rui subconsciously dodged sideways, and although he dodged one of them, the other one still hit his forehead.

This scene is like 30 years ago......

Monk Huanxi said: "Since you said that there was nothing in the first place, why did you hide just now?" What to hide? What's it? The Buddha is a real deity, and you say that there is "nothing in this world." Isn't your words the greatest disrespect to the Buddha! In my opinion, you heretics deserve to be put to death. ”

At this moment, the heavenly burial platform, the monks who came to worship were close to thousands, and the monk's aggressive remarks were described as wolf ambitions, and he wanted to take this opportunity to trap the monks in the ruins of unkindness and injustice, and even instigated the monks to get rid of this person.

It's clear: he succeeded.

Of course, thousands of monks will stand aside with the "inheritor of the mantle", and just rejoicing in the wonderful sophistry of the monk, thousands of monks cheered in unison, although the monk seemed to have a facial expression, but his heart was triumphant.

And at this moment, the face of the monk in the ruins is full of endless vicissitudes and sadness. This expression is not because of the blood on the forehead, nor because of the ridicule of the monks, but more like a kind of confusion about "oneself".

The monk said weakly: "Huanxi, you worship the so-called "Buddha" so much, but does that Buddha really exist. ”

Monk Huanxi said: "Of course it exists!" ”

The monk smiled weakly: "Then let me ask you, does the Buddha have a head?" ”

The happy monk said: "There is a head." The Buddha said: The sea of suffering is endless, and turning back is the shore. Dare to ask if the Buddha has no head, how can he turn back? ”

When the thousands of monks on the celestial burial platform heard the witty words of the happy monk, they couldn't help but shout in unison: "Good, well said! ”

Guixu said again: "Then let me ask you, does the Buddha have hands?" ”

Monk Huanxi smiled: "Of course there are hands." When the Buddha was born, he pointed to the sky and the earth, saying: Heaven and earth, I am the only one. Dare to ask if the Buddha has no hands, how can he refer to it? ”

When thousands of monks heard this, they cheered in unison: "The parable is good, the parable is good!" ”

Guixu continued: "Then let me ask you, does the Buddha have eyes?" ”

Monk Huanxi smiled: "Of course there are eyes." Have you forgotten that the Buddha once said to his great disciple Kasya, "When you return, you can pass on the Dharma-Eye"? Dare to ask if the Buddha has no eyes, how can he pass on the correct Dharma eye? ”

Guixu finally said: "Then let me ask you, does the Buddha have feet?" ”

When the monk heard this, he laughed and said, "Of course the Buddha has feet!" You have forgotten that the Bodhisattva King Jizo once made a great vow to all sentient beings, "Hell is not empty, I will not become a Buddha, and if I do not go to hell, who will go to hell." Dare to ask the Buddha if he has no feet, how can he go? ”

At this moment, the originally solemn and solemn ceremonial ceremony has turned into a farce, and thousands of monks laughed and leaned back and forth in laughter. But in the eyes of the Guixu monks, these smiles are so pathetic, hideous, and ignorant......

The monk lowered his arrogant head and left silently. In this debate with the monk Huanxi, he lost, and he lost completely. In this world, no matter where you are, the winner will always enjoy the support of everyone, and the loser will always leave in disgrace.

On a cliff opposite the burial platform, an old man and a little doll sat quietly.

The little doll asked the old man, "Grandpa, who won this debate?" ”

The old man looked at the indifferent monk at the back, and said with a faint smile: "He won." ”

The little doll didn't understand, so she asked her grandfather, "Why?" ”

The old man sighed, "Who was me when I was not born, and who was I when I was born...... The young monk saw through everything. ”

The little doll blinked innocently, although he still couldn't understand his grandfather's words, he was very happy in his heart. Because compared to the flamboyant happy monk, he prefers this monk with a lonely back.

The old man stood up slowly, patted the dust on his buttocks, and then smiled at the little doll, "Let's go." ”

The little doll asked, "Where are you going, grandpa?" ”

The old man said, "Go and show the young man the way." ”

The little doll asked, "What are you going to tell him?" ”

The old man smiled faintly and said, "Jade of the Living Dead." ”
