Chapter 0: Off topic
There is no wealth of peonies, no luxury of roses, no stunning blooming plums, and no pine and bamboo sword pointing to the blue sky. I just smiled and stood still, humming my own little song and blooming my own flowers. Use shallow chanting and singing to make the surroundings elegant, do not admire the big red and purple, stay away from the prosperity of the world, just want to understand my bosom friend, enjoy the fragrance, and join hands with the world.
At this stage of this book, I have already told you a lot of stories and played a lot of bitter cards, and this time I decided to change my thinking and tell a relatively easy story.
In fact, it is very important to tell a story to find the right theme, so that the audience can understand what you want to express at once.
So many times, the theme of the story is really as simple as possible, simple to be clear at a glance, simple to the heart with one stone, and the characters in the story should not be cumbersome, to a certain extent, the fewer characters, the better.
The story I'm going to tell you next is a very simple story, even simple to a certain extent, naked, it's more like a friend's whisper in your ear, intentionally or unintentionally, it's like a few housewives who everyone overhears intentionally or unintentionally at a banquet.
It has no beginning, no climax, and no end, but it is not dull, but the longer it lasts.
The protagonist of the story is only one person and a pot of orchids, and of course a small, empty room.
Speaking of orchids, I'd like to talk to you about something outside of the story in this first chapter.
In fact, when it comes to orchids, they are planted in many places in the world, and because of the different climates around the world, the growth of orchids is also very different. For example, in Australia, orchids grow very charming, the flowers are huge and beautiful, while our Chinese orchids grow very tactfully, the flowers are small, and there is no eye-catching color. So in comparison, Chinese orchids seem so inconspicuous.
But because of this inconspicuousness, but it is very popular with Oriental people, because this introverted is so in line with the character of Oriental people, Oriental people unconsciously began to regard orchids as a symbol of nobility and elegance, not publicity, not pretentious, small to the market, large to the doctor, orchids have almost entered the life of every Oriental person, becoming the strongest color in the ribbon cutting of that life. For orchids, Chinese can be said to have deep-rooted national feelings and character identity.
The elegant, handsome, and colorful leaves are like ice crystals, and the flowers that are noble and elegant, and have both charm are like the cold moon; The pure, distant, heartfelt fragrance is better than the incense of countless treasure crates.
The earliest history of planting orchids, to start from the Yue King Goujian, there are historical records, the Spring and Autumn Period Goujian has begun to plant orchids in the mountains of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, but at that time it was just a king's private hobby. Later, during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, there were years of war, but art has been unprecedentedly developed, and at this time, private gardens began to appear, and scholars and doctors liked to decorate one or two orchids in their gardens.
Later, a variety of poems with orchids as the theme began to appear, such as Cao Zhi's "Autumn Orchid is Long Slope", Li Bai's "The Orchid is Fragrant and the Wind is Far Away, and the Grass Flows Fragrant Roots", Zhu Xi's "Orchid Stream", Zheng Banqiao's "Broken Branch Orchid", and Kangxi's "Yongyou Orchid". In every dynasty and generation, orchids have become an indispensable subject in poetry. It became the soul of the literati, a symbol of elegance, and was juxtaposed with "plum, bamboo, and chrysanthemum", collectively known as the "Four Gentlemen".
At the same time, orchid art began to become a very important art category, and the craft of planting orchids began to be passed on by word of mouth by all dynasties and generations, especially in the Song Dynasty, orchid art reached its peak. The flowers are very fragrant, probably born in the forest, the breeze passes, and its fragrance reaches the outside, so it is called Zhilan. The "Jin Zhang Orchid Book" written by Zhao Shigeng of the Southern Song Dynasty in 1233 can be said to be the earliest book on orchids preserved in China and the first orchid monograph in the world. Then the orchid craft began to spread to other neighboring countries, in 1256, Chen Jingyi's "Quanfang Beizu" on the orchid description is more detailed, the book was engraved in the Japanese Imperial Palace Treasury, in 1979 Japan sent the photocopy back to China. Growing orchids is starting to become a science, a craft that requires careful study.
Why are there so many varieties of flowers in the Central Plains, there are so many rare and exotic flowers, but only orchids are the most loved by the literati and have become the darlings of the literati. There are deep reasons for this.
First of all, we need to know what the Chinese literati represent, a very classic saying can be summed up in a word, that is, "the punishment is not a doctor", when the Chinese literati feel that they are not innocent and clean, they will choose to take the initiative to end themselves, they will choose to escape from this absurd world, and then live their own independent life, although they are just a drop in the ocean of people, but they are always worried about a nation, a country. They have ideals and ambitions, but they are always depressed, saying that they don't care, but in their hearts, they are stabbed with needles and knives.
This is the Chinese literati, with an unrealistically high and hysterical paranoia.
Why is this happening? Because this world is not a world of ideal casting, this is a real society, the literati's thinking is always ahead of their time, but they are powerless to change anything, they are always fighting against reality, but the end is only bruises, so more and more literati began to melt into the filth, they also live a secular life like everyone else, doing things that they despise, the purpose of which is just to survive.
But there has always been a piece of pure land hidden in their hearts, and the pure appearance of the orchid represents the purest part of the Chinese literati's heart, representing the last perseverance in the materialistic world. "The breath is like an orchid and does not change, and the heart is like an orchid and never changes", "Find a confidant of Youlan, and talk about a dream of Xiaoxiang", "Youlan is born in the vestibule, and wait for the breeze." The meaning of the orchid is not as simple as a flower, it represents a light that fights against all darkness, and represents everyone's ideal self. The orchid represents nobility and restraint.
In addition to these, orchids represent pure and immaculate love. "The mirror does not change the light, and the orchid does not change the fragrance when it dies", it is a kind of love that is only once in a lifetime, from the moment of birth, and has been accompanied until it withers by itself.
However, this story may not have such a big perspective, and it is impossible to dissect China's deepest flowers with a small story, which is only a story after all, not a page of paper.
