314. Divination class
Duten began his third semester as a student.
Harry was provoked by Malfoy and the others as soon as he entered the school, and they constantly teased him with the fact that Harry was scared by the Dementors, and Harry was often flushed with anger, but he couldn't fight just after entering the school. And it's been two years since he went to school, and he's never fought once, and the punishment of the Hogwarts students is still very severe, and Harry doesn't want to make trouble for his house, so he can only endure it again and again.
Professor Lupin soon began his career as a teacher, his first time as a teacher, but his personality was more casual, and the atmosphere in the classroom was more relaxed. The students' evaluation of Professor Lupin is generally good, after all, Lupin has real skills, and he is really teaching students some very useful spells and tricks, so except for Slytherin, which has a pure-blood plot, the students of the other three houses still like Professor Lupin very much.
All 3rd graders are exposed to three new teachers this year.
In addition to Lupin, there is also Hagrid, who becomes the teacher of the Conservation of Magical Creatures class, but unlike Lupin's popularity, Hagrid is resisted by many students. Needless to say, Slytherin didn't even like Lupin, let alone Hagrid. Hagrid's class was rough, and in the first lesson, the students were exposed to the rather dangerous magical creatures of the Hippogriff.
Although, according to him, as long as a certain interest is maintained, this creature hardly harms the students. But there are always people who don't believe in evil, or rather, there are always people who want to make trouble in all kinds of ways, and one of the more representative is Malfoy, who turned a deaf ear to Hagrid's persuasion and went his own way, only to be scratched by the eagle-headed horse winged beast, and his arm was bleeding.
This was a big problem, and parents of Slytherin students began to write to Hogwarts to express their dissatisfaction. These parents are pure-blood wizards with great status and power in the wizarding world, and as soon as they exert their strength, Hagrid, who has just been cleared of his crimes, is once again thrust into the limelight. Fortunately, Dumbledore insisted on protecting him, otherwise "a teacher who only taught one lesson" would definitely not be a good name.
The last new teacher to come into contact with is Professor Sybil Trelawney, a student of divination.
Sybil Trelawney, great-granddaughter of the famous soothsayer Kassandra Trelawney.
She is a magical person because, on the one hand, she behaves like a crazy liar, but on the other hand she can make real predictions, and people are completely unsure of her details, and even when she is a madman and when she is a prophet.
Her name comes from Greek mythology, where "Sybil" was a priestess of the Temple of Apollo who had the ability to predict the future due to her favor with the sun god. But because her prophecy leaked the heavenly secrets, she was cursed by Apollo, that is, her prophecy was not believed. Sybil had as much life as sand, which she asked Apollo to give her, but she forgot to ask for youth, so much so that her only desire later was to die.
If this story exists, then Professor Trelawney should still be cursed as a descendant of this family. The soothsayer, who should have been revered, was now hiding in the loft of Hoglotz to drink to his sorrows. Although her classes were boring, she was undoubtedly a true prophet. In the Harry Potter story, she made a total of three very successful prophecies.
The first is the prophecy of the Messiah, the second is the prophecy of the resurrection of Lord Voldemort of the Dark Lord, and the third is the prophecy of Dumbledore's death, all three of which are very deeply related to the plot. It's a pity that her prophecy is not believed, so the people in the plot can't really make use of these three prophecies in the end.
Of course, this is still too far away, and now Duten and Harry are only in their third year, and they are just beginning to learn about divination.
Divination is an elective course, so the students who come to class this time are basically from any house, and the Slytherins are finally no longer messing around, there is no need for their palms, and Professor Trelawney is different from the professors they hate. She is a pure-blood, and her class is elective, and generally no one else will choose this course except for students who like it or are curious.
So the students who can come here are basically good-natured, and no one can be ruthless to make fun of such a poor professor.
Du Teng also took the divination class, so he also came to this class.
They followed the spiral steps up the tower, and the landing had no door, but a door on the roof, and a flat plate of brass on it.
"Trelawney, the teacher of divination." Harry read, "How are we going to go up?" As if in reply to Harry, the door suddenly opened, and a silver ladder reached from the long face to Harry's feet. Everyone was quietly scared.
When everyone went up, a strange classroom that they had never seen before appeared.
Actually, it doesn't look like a classroom at all, it's more like a loft and an old-fashioned tea shop. At least twenty small round tables were crowded inside, and beside them were small armchairs with small thick round cushions, all of which were shrouded in a dim crimson light. The curtains of the windows were lowered, and many of the table lamps were covered with crimson scarves. The flames danced happily on the crowded mantelpiece. When heated to a copper kettle, a strong, disgusting smell of perfume came out.
The balustrade next to the circular wall was covered with feathers, candle stumps, packed rags, countless crystal balls, and rows of Rong cups.
When everyone walked into the classroom and gathered, everyone began to talk.
"Where is she?" Ron asked.
A voice suddenly came out of the shadows, it was an intimate and vague voice.
"You're welcome." She said, "It's nice to finally see you in this physical world. β
Professor Trelawney stepped into the light, she was thin, her eyes magnified several times by her large glasses, she was draped in a thin glittering shawl, countless necklaces and jewelry hung from her lanky neck, her arms were full of bracelets, and her hands were full of rings.
"Sit, my child, sit." She said.
Everyone sat awkwardly in armchairs, next to the soft cushions, Harry, Ron, and Hermione sat down in the chairs at the same table, and Duten sat at the other table, with two of his own classmates.
"Welcome to Divination." "My name is Professor Trelawney, and I think going down to the noisy campus often because the atmosphere is blurry with my mind and my eyes," said Professor Trelawney, who sat down in the winged chair in front of the fire. β
Without saying anything to her particular statement, Professor Trelawney deliberately straightened her shawl and continued, "Since you have all chosen to study divination, which is the most difficult subject in the wizarding world, I must warn you that if you don't have vision, I can't teach you anything, and books can only take you so far in this field......"
Hearing this, Harry and Ron looked at each other and smiled. Hermione looked surprised that the books were of no use here.
"A lot of wizards and witches are very talented. But they can't debunk the future. Professor Trelawney continued, her strangely shiny eyes sweeping across her nervous face. Very few people have this kind of talent. You, kid. She suddenly said to Neville, "Is your grandma okay?" β
"It's fine." Neville said with a shudder.
"Honey, I wouldn't be so sure if I were you." Professor Treloni said, the light flashing in her long emerald earrings, and Nivelle swallowed. Professor Trevoni calmly continued, "This year we will learn the basic methods of divination, in the first semester we will learn tea leaves, and in the second semester we will start to learn palmistry. And by the way, my dear. β
She suddenly stared at Paviti Pati.
"Beware of a red-haired man." Paveti looked at Ron in surprise, he was sitting next to her, and she immediately moved her stool away from him.
I have to say that Professor Trelawney's ability to control people's hearts and create an atmosphere is still very high, and everyone originally thought that divination was very mysterious, but now that she is doing this, everyone feels even more incredible, and their attention has been concentrated, listening carefully to every word of Professor Trelawney.
"During this semester," Professor Trelawney continued, "we started learning the crystal ball β assuming we were done with the fiery omen, of course, that unfortunately the class would be interrupted by that terrible flu in February, and I would lose my voice. Around Easter, one of us will leave us forever. Her words were followed by a nervous silence. But Professor Treloni didn't seem to notice.
Next, she first taught everyone to read the future information from the residue of the tea leaves, and the students chose their favorite teacups, and after drinking, they wiped the residues of the teacups with their hands, just as Professor Trelawney taught, and then waited for the tea residues to dry, exchanged teacups and began to observe.
"What do you see in my teacup?" Ron asked, turning the teacup in his hand. He and Harry exchanged teacups and read to each other based on pages five or six of the book.
"It's brown, burnt through." Harry said the strong smell of perfume made him feel sluggish and sleepy.
"Relax your minds, dear students, and let your eyes see through the world." Professor Trelawney said melancholy.
Harry struggled to lift God.
"Well, you now have a rickety cross...... "he said, reading the Future Predictions," "which means that you are going to have trials and tribulations - which I regret - but there is something here, like the sun. Wait a minute...... It means great happiness...... So you're going to be unlucky, but you're going to be happy...... If you ask me, I'm going to say you need to test your Celestial Eye. β
Ron said, both of them having to hold back a laugh as Professor Trelawney was looking at them.
"It's my turn......" Ron looked into Harry's teacup, his forehead wrinkled with effort. There's a mess here, like a bowler hat," he said, "maybe you're going to work for the Ministry of Magic......
He turned his teacup to the other side.
"But it's more like an acorn when you look at it that way...... What is that? He flipped through his book "Predicting the Future." Windfall, unexpected gold. Awesome, you can lend me some. There's another thing here," he turned his teacup around, "and it looks like an animal." Yes, if that's the head...... It looks like a hippopotamus...... No, like a sheep......"
Harry burst out laughing, and Professor Trelawney spun around.
"Let me see, dear." She said to Ron unhappily, and quickly walked over and snatched the teacup from Ron's hand. Everyone was quiet and watched.
Professor Trelawney stared at the teacup as he turned it in a counterclockwise direction.
"Falcon...... Honey, you have mortal enemies. β
"But everybody knows about it." Hermione muttered loudly. Professor Trelawney glared at her.
"Well, that's right," Hermione said, "everyone knows about Harry and the Mystery. β
Harry and Ron glared at her, surprised and admired. They had never heard Hermione speak like that to the teacher. Professor Trelawney deliberately did not answer. Her big eyes looked back into Harry's teacup, and she continued to turn it.
"Big stick...... An attack. Honey, honey, this is not a lucky teacup......"
"I thought it was a bowler hat." Ron said nervously.
"Skull...... The future is in jeopardy, dear ......"
Everyone stared at Professor Trelawney in amazement, and she turned her teacup one last time, gasping for air, and screaming.
"My dear," Professor Trelawney's wide eyes opened dramatically, "you're ominous. β
"What do I have?" Harry said.
He knew he wasn't the only one who didn't understand the word: Dean Thomas shrugged at him, Lavender Brown looked confused, but the others almost covered their mouths with their hands because they were terrified.
"'Ominous', my darling, 'Ominous'!" Professor Trelawney exclaimed, and Harry was shocked that he didn't understand. "That big ghostly dog roaming the cemetery! My dear child, this is a bad omenβthe worst omenβa harbinger of death! β
Everyone in the room gasped in unison. Everyone stared intently at Professor Trelawney, trying to see if he was joking.
"Alright, guys, stop surrounding Professor Trelawney. The professor only gave you the method of predicting the future, but the future can be changed, so don't be intimidated. β
Duten stepped forward, holding his teacup to Professor Trelawney.
"Professor, if you've seen Harry's, look at mine, see what my tea represents."
Du Teng smiled, his expression as cunning as that of a little fox who had eaten a fallen grape. (To be continued.) )
