Chapter XVI: The Oracle

Borrowing a rope gun from Lucius, Roy fired a shot at the vertical ventilation duct at the edge of the corner ten meters away, grappling the edge with precision. Roy pressed the recovery button, and the pull of the fiber recovery, which was said to be able to withstand 500 pounds, pulled him up.

Coincidentally, there was another similar hook mark just a few millimeters away from where he was attached. This only confirmed his suspicions, and it seemed that the mysterious intruders had borrowed something similar to a hook gun to land from this place.

There was only one route through the ventilation duct, and Roy continued to crawl forward along the pipe, tracing the route the intruder had entered.

After crawling for about half a minute, he noticed a small amount of light green liquid.

It's intriguing how such a thing could have been found in a place like this in a ventilation duct. He went up and sniffed it, and the liquid had a refreshing aroma. Roy took out the small bottle and tweezers that he carried with him like the evidence bag, extracted a small amount of liquid and kept it in the bottle, ready to take it back for testing.

Climbed in the ventilation duct for a total of twenty minutes, and the exit was on the roof. Roy thinks that his physical fitness is quite good, but he can't help but feel sore. He began to admire the intruders a little, and his physical strength must have been extraordinary.

He went back to the technical department - this time not looking for the vents, of course, but the elevators.

"How?" Lucius asked.

"It's okay." "It's almost certain that they're on this path." ”

Lucius asked, "And how did they get such a big machine out of the ventilation duct?" Break it down into pieces? ”

"Of course not, because they went the other way when they went out." Roy said.

"You're saying there's another way to get out of the way around the doorway besides this pipeline?" Lucius asked, incredulous.

"It looks like so." Roy said, "Did you notice that the floor in this room was slightly angled?" ”

Lucius was stunned: "Is there one?" ”

"I just got into that pipe and found out that the angle between the wall and the floor where the vent is located is three to five degrees different from 90 degrees. Structurally, this phenomenon occurs when there is a dark room hidden inside. ”

Roy was already lying on the wall when he spoke, his hands groping along the wall.

Lucius was a little unconvinced: "You mean that our mysterious intruder opened a dark room in our company in advance?" ”

Roy didn't say anything, but it didn't take long for him to prove it. He literally cut a crack in the wall and lifted a wall panel about 1.5 meters wide.

Roy whistled, "Look, that's it. ”

Lucius was dumbfounded, no matter how the technical department was said to be the department he used to be in charge of, there was a dark room in it, and he didn't even know it?

Roy had already walked ahead and bent in, and Lucius couldn't possibly not want to know what was inside, so he followed suit.

At first, there were no lights, and Roy turned on the flashlight on his smartphone to illuminate it. Through the bright white light, they could see the black walls on both sides, and the balance of their bodies told them that the passage under their feet was inclined upward.

At the end of the passage is a large room, but it is unknown how spacious it is, as there is also no light. Roy held his flashlight as far as he could to illuminate the walls on either side, finding the light switch.

Pressing the switch, the six lights hanging above the heads of the two of them turned on at the same time, and when the whole picture of the room was displayed in front of the two of them, the reason for the existence of the dark room here was finally clear.

Sticking to the opposite wall is a computer with a large monitor, and a wardrobe standing next to it is printed with the mark of a bat, and you can imagine what clothes are inside. On the other side, the shelves are stacked with equipment such as batarang, ball bombs, belts, and more.

This is Batman's stronghold.

"Mr. Wayne has hidden such a stronghold in the company." Lucius lifted his glasses, "But I haven't heard of it, I'm also the CEO of the company, even if Mr. Wayne is working in it, I can't go unnoticed."

"It's simple, because he didn't build it." Roy said, "This chamber has been here for a long time. ”

"What?"

Roy explained: "Many of the equipment in this secret room is new, but in stark contrast, the paint on the walls has peeled off, and the cement material on the floor does not feel very different from the marble floor outside the secret room. ”

"So you're saying this was made before?"

"It looks like this." Roy said.

Lucius cupped his chin in thought, "So I'd like to hear Mr. Wayne mention that one of his ancestors was once a secret service, and that the prototype of the Bat Cave was left by the ancestor of the Wayne family. In that case, it is likely that this secret room was also left by the old gentleman. ”

"But these people have left us some clues or provocations."

Roy picked up a note from the keyboard of his computer desk, flipped through it and handed it to Lucius.

Lucius unfolded the paper, only to see a strange symbol drawn on it, two long knives staggered.

"What is this?" Lucius asked, puzzled.

"I don't know." Roy replied, "But since our uninvited guest left this for the owner of the place as a signal, let's assume that Mr. Wayne can read what the symbol represents." I'll show him this now, maybe he can tell me something. ”

There was nothing of any more note, and Roy continued to walk inside, discovering that there were multiple exits in the huge room, each leading to a secret door inside the Wayne Building, through which the intruders had exited.

"It's strange why these unusual snitches know about the dark room, which I don't even know." Lucius said.

"That's probably going to have to be explained to Mr. Wayne." Roy Road.

Wayne Manor, in the Batcave.

Bruce Wayne clutched the note in his hand. He didn't wear a face mask, but he still had Batman's armor on him, and according to Alfred, he barely took off his shirt in the past few days. Bruce's expression was as solemn as he had been when he heard the news of Calmine Falcone's return that day.

"So you do know what that means, do you?" Roy asked.

"It's a symbol." Bruce said, turning to rhetorical questions, "Have you heard of the League of Assassins?" ”

"Nope." Roy shook his head.

"It's an ancient and mysterious organization." Bruce didn't care, continuing, "They've been around for hundreds or thousands of years, and in many people's mouths they're just legends. Their leader, the ninja master with the title of 'Thunder Sky Gu', has lived for hundreds of years with the help of a pool of water that can bring new vitality to people, and his ninjutsu attainments are unfathomable. I've fought with them before, and Lei Xiaogu once said that they had been to Gotham before and studied my family. ”

"That may explain why your great-grandfather's World War II secret room is known to these ninjas." Roy said.

Bruce put down the paper in his hand and said, "You've done a great job, and you're really good at scouting." But you know, it's not enough to do what I'm doing. ”

"I know."

"Then as agreed, I will provide you with equipment and the necessary training." "But as you know, most of my people are busy right now, so I've got a special coach for you, and she's almost ready to come down now." ”

"She?" Roy noticed the word.

The elevator at the entrance to the Batcave descended, and to Roy's startled gaze, Barbara Gordon drove up to him in a wheelchair.

"Barbara!?"

"I'm sure you've already met, but let me reintroduce you." Bruce walked over to Barbara's wheelchair and said, "Now let's get to know the oracle." ”
