Chapter 1: Murphy's Law
In the end, it took us more than a day to reach the end of the tracks, and the food we brought with us was even more depleted. It's really not exciting news, fresh water is quite sufficient, generally speaking, you can live for about ten days with only water**. Peeling out the days when we were completely incapacitated, we had less than a week to find help.
The best hope is Talia, she is a very responsible person, and she will definitely try her best to find the place where we fell. But before we separated, we were a team that had lost supplies, and it always felt a little weird to have such a Talia come to us
It was a very painful day, the scenery that didn't change no matter how you looked at it, and the railroad tracks that stretched all the way that seemed to be endless, these things really drained our spirits. If you are walking, you will accidentally wander for a long time, and walking along the railroad tracks will almost become a conditioned reflex. The blue-gray ground had nothing but gravel, no mountains, no rivers, not even the simplest undulations.
The place seemed like there was really nothing and we were aesthetically tired for the first two hours. The darkness has long been a part of the surroundings, and I have the illusion that it is alive, and before I know it, it has been eating away at everything here, and finally swallowing us up without knowing anything
I couldn't suppress this feeling as soon as it came out, I could only let it exacerbate the fear in my heart, and the strange thing was that even if I left it alone, it would disappear on its own after a while.
Of course, these are just a few episodes between the long boring and boring, and more time is pointless walking. By the end of the day, I had a little hope that the fear would come on soon. If I keep going like this until I die, I'd rather be eaten alive by some monster.
But we're not worried about turning back, because last time we were so embarrassed because of the interference of Stonehenge. I don't believe that the Japanese can do anything with just two iron bars on such a large flat land, and if they really had the ability, the War of Resistance would not have been fought for eight years.
The proof of this is this huge thing in front of us, and in its seriousness, the miner's lamp in our hands is no different from a toy. The so-called exhaustive situation of not being able to see one or two of them is like this, this thing is too big to all of us to imagine. We only know that this thing is man-made, and it is the product of modern construction technology.
The terrible thought in my heart once again ran out silently, God forbid, don't let that kid Chen Zaihai say it. Whether this thing is good or not is just a very huge wall at one time
In the deepest part of my heart, I always refused to believe in my own and Chen Zaihai's inferences, and I always felt that everything was nonsense before I saw the real thing. But now that I really see it, I can't accept it.
The two of them behaved relatively calmly, and the soldier was probably used to such battles because he was not uncommon when he was engaged in construction. As for Chen Zaihai, it is not so much that he is calm, but that he is so excited that he can't speak. No matter how you look at it, this proves that he has been thinking correctly, and this guy should be very excited now
At this point, I have to say a relatively unpopular little knowledge, I think it is better to use this to describe what we have been encountering. This little knowledge is also what Lin Yiru told me, this woman is not only outstanding in her own profession, but also seems to be well-read, and there is nothing she doesn't know about all kinds of unpopular corners, I really don't know where she came from so much time.
The level is so high, usually the work at hand alone should make her anxious, right? The lack of skills seems to make little sense to her, this guy may really be a doppelganger, one is working, one is reading, and the other is learning.
She told me about a very interesting but also desperate law called Murphy's Law.
There is also a very interesting history about this law, and it is because of this story that Murphy's Law became famous and was finally determined.
It was proposed by an American named Edward Murphy, an engineer.
In the year of the founding of the People's Republic of China, he and his superior, Major Stap, participated in some kind of rocket deceleration overweight experiment conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the limits of acceleration that humans can bear. In one of the experiments, several rocket accelerometers were suspended above the subject, and there were two ways to attach the accelerometers to the stand, and it was amazing how methodically someone had clamped them all in the wrong place. Interestingly, at that time, the simulation experiment had clearly asked the participants to clamp the clips with the front, and the result was that some people still had 47 clips in a row wrong.
So the American famously asserted that if there were multiple ways to do a job, and one of them would lead to an accident, someone would do it. Speaking of which, this is also a very fortuitous discovery.
The fact that we can reshape the world at any time seems to indicate that all problems can be solved. No matter what the difficulties and challenges, we can always find a way or a model to win. This phrase has always been the motto of our generation, the so-called man conquers the sky. In retrospect, the idea itself was an idealistic, metaphysical thing that we had always spurned and despised.
To put this argument in other words, if you drop a piece of dry bread on the carpet, both sides of the bread may hit the ground. But suppose you drop a slice of bread with a layer of jam on one side on the carpet, and often the side with the jam falls on the carpet. My feeling is that if you're unlucky, congratulations! You're going to be even more unlucky in the future
Eventually, the thing grew bigger and bigger, until it became four well-known aspects.
1. Nothing is as simple as it seems;
2. Everything will take longer than you expect;
3. Things that go wrong will always go wrong;
Fourth, if you're worried about something happening, it's more likely to happen.
When you think about it, these four aspects are very, very perfect for all the things that have happened to us. If there is a chance that something will go bad, no matter how small that likelihood, it will happen. I've been deeply affected by this sentence countless times, and I felt as if God was deliberately working against us.
Of course, I'm not promoting a negative sentiment, and from the end result of our results, it's not really hopelessly bad. Human effort and hard work cannot be meaningless. Chen Zaihai and I both survived in the end, and we each built a good family, and our two families are very close to this day, and we can be called world friends.
For example, you have a lot of money in your pocket, and you are afraid that others will know about it and lose it, so every once in a while, you will go to your pocket with your hand to check if the money is still there, so your regular actions attract the attention of the thief, and eventually the thief steals it. Even if it wasn't stolen by a thief, the pocket that you were always fumbling around was finally worn out, and the gold coins fell out and were lost.
So the culprit for this serious consequence is ourselves, so this wonderful law shows that the easy to make mistakes is our innate weakness, and no matter how advanced the technology is, accidents will happen. And the more clever we are at solving problems, the more serious the troubles we face.
Therefore, we should be as thoughtful and comprehensive as possible in advance, and if misfortune or loss really happens, we should deal with it with a smile, and the key is to summarize the mistakes we have made, rather than trying to cover it up. We just didn't understand such a simple truth back then, and we paid a very big price.
People are not as good as the sky, as the old saying goes, "there are many mountains and tigers". There is also "misfortune does not go alone". Want to lottery,There are no jackpots in a few consecutive periods,In the end, there must be a 10 million jackpot,Although the probability of disaster is also very small,But accumulate to a certain extent,It will also break out from the weakest linkใ
So the key is to clean up the dead corners at all times, simply put, to think comprehensively, and there will be no harm in thinking too much. Afraid of what comes, a good state is to only want to do the essentials and forget yourself. This is all something I have learned over the decades, albeit at a high cost.
But as I said before, human maturity is often accompanied by the sacrifice of something. This is actually a kind of inevitability, although it is very sad, but it is unavoidable, a smooth sailing life cannot exist, even if there is really oneself, it will never be one's turn, this is the truth.
Specifically, what is happening before our eyes at that time is the manifestation of the law. I prayed more than once that things would never think about it, but in the end it turned out to be like this. Sometimes it really gives people a deep sense of hopelessness, and it really doesn't seem like things will change by our actions.
We still found the huge structure, and eventually Chen Zaihai and Talia also disappeared from my sight, and Lin Yiru and I died together with them, and everything had fallen irreversibly to the desperate side from the moment we decided to examine the body of the giant python again.
In retrospect, we didn't have many options, but there were always a few of them. But we didn't pick the right one, for example, the three forks in the road, which we could have done the same way and go back to the other one, but we didn't.
I think no matter how many times we repeat it, the result will probably not change, and the so-called God perspective does not exist. Lack of intelligence is the decisive factor, and if someone else is like Lin Yiru, we are likely to avoid all dangers.
But in the past, there could be no ifs, we didn't have that ability to think, so everything underground would be the kind of result that I couldn't accept
