Chapter 5: The One-Legged Cow

The carrying compartment of the colleague's small ship cracked a large crack from the middle. The boxes inside also fell out a lot. I walked over to a broken box, peeled back the shards, and rummaged through it to find a silver steel bucket.

When I saw this steel drum, I was confused, could it be that this is what we transported? I ignored the steel drum and rummaged through the other broken boxes, rummaging through several boxes in a row, but they were all steel drums of different sizes. I looked at these steel buckets and felt a little depressed.

Finally, I moved open a full box and looked at the shattered box underneath it. This time it wasn't a steel barrel, but a semi-automatic cluster rifle of the aerospace standard.

I usually have a lot of contact with the aerospace army, so I know this kind of gun better. Cluster rifles are powered by lithium batteries and can shoot more than 200 times on a single charge.

This cluster gun has no recoil and is also very powerful, which can be said to be a necessary weapon for home travel and interstellar wandering. The only drawback is that you don't wear goggles, and shooting for a long time can cause damage to your eyes.

I picked up a cluster gun and fired a few shots at the surrounding land, and found nothing unusual on the ground. I thought maybe I had chosen the wrong target, so I aimed at the trunk of the tree next to me and fired another shot.

The trunk of the tree was instantly knocked out of a black hole, and the hole was covered with burn marks.

It was very powerful, I sighed and put the cluster gun in the shade. Immediately afterward, I came to the bottom of the crack in the carrier compartment and jumped up with all my might, clinging to the crack. Then I pulled my whole body up with my arms and jumped into the carrying compartment.

There are many boxes in the carrying compartment, some large and some small, and the storage is relatively complete. I found a couple of small boxes and threw them out of the carry compartment. I walked around the carrier compartment twice more to make sure that the other boxes really couldn't move, and then I climbed out of the compartment.

Once I landed, I used my cluster gun to open the small boxes and the intact ones on the ground. As I expected, the small boxes are filled with lithium batteries for cluster guns, and the large boxes that are scattered are still "steel barrels". The temperature is too high right now for me to keep these batteries exposed to the sun all the time. I carried the batteries and carried them all back to my cockpit one by one.

After moving, I felt like my spacesuit was covered in sweat. My hands felt like they were soaked in water. I took off my spacesuit and poured it out, sweat pouring out of my suit.

The spacesuit is good for insulation, but from the moment I take off the helmet, I can only praise it for keeping it warm. I jumped out of the cockpit again in my clothes, and the wind outside blew on my soaked clothes, and there was an indescribable coolness.

Thirsty, still thirsty. There should be no food and water in the carrying module, the large box may be some heavy equipment of the astronauts, I picked up the cluster gun, took a small piece of the box from the ground, put it in my pocket, and prepared to walk around to see if I could find some food and water.

It looks like a barren place, with a few trees scattered around. I kept walking forward, marking the trunk with crate fragments along the way to prevent myself from getting lost.

I don't know how long I walked, and I didn't stop until a riverbed appeared in front of me. It's a dry riverbed, but it doesn't look like it's been dry for a long time.

I walked over and looked into the riverbed. I found many small holes in the riverbed, and I found the nearest one, and when I looked inside, it was pitch black, and I couldn't see anything.

I pinched a small rock and threw it into the hole. Then I pointed my cluster gun at the hole.

Nothing came out, but I heard a thud and a stone crashing into the water.

There is water! I was so excited that I immediately leaned in. With both hands, I started to dig the small hole, digging about five centimeters, and the soil on my hands was already wet.

The entrance to the cave was still dark, and I had no idea of digging any further. I'm afraid that my hands will be wasted, and I won't be able to dig that depth.

I was about to rest for a while when I heard an eerie roar in the distance. This roar comes and goes, and it is clear that there are large clusters of creatures. I grabbed my cluster gun, looked around, found a large rock, and hid.

The roar was getting closer, and I felt the ground begin to shake beneath my feet. I was getting more and more scared, but I couldn't help but stick my head out to look. It was too far away, and I only saw a group of black creatures. As they approached, the ground shook stronger.

As they approached, I finally saw what they looked like. These creatures are large in size, about two meters tall. It has dark, shiny skin, and two large horns on its head, and the head looks a little like a cow on our earth, and then the part below the head is a little indescribable, because, according to my observations. These creatures have nothing from the head down, except one leg and one leg.

But this leg is really scary, and the weight of this leg, I estimate that it is comparable to the four legs of an adult elephant.

Because of their appearance, I named them one-legged cows. The one-legged cows jumped neatly all the way, and their steps were exactly the same, and they looked like they had been professionally trained. They jumped into the middle of the riverbed and then scattered as if looking for something.

I stole a glance at a one-legged cow that was closer to me, and saw that the cow was bending its thick legs and throwing something in the riverbed with its beak. My curiosity also came up, and I stared intently at the riverbed, and as I planed, the one-legged cow dug out a round thing out of the riverbed.

The round thing seemed to be alive, let's call it a ball. The ball had just come out of the dirt and jumped around. The one-legged cow jumped forward and bit the "round ball" into its mouth, which didn't look very hard. Immediately afterward, I saw the "ball" deflated at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The mouth of the one-legged cow also flowed out of "Harazi" at this time. I thought the one-legged cow would eat the ball, but it turned out to be the opposite, and the one-legged cow gently put the deflated ball back into the riverbed and covered it with a light arch of dirt with its nose.

When he had done all this, the one-legged ox raised his head, snorted, hissed, and continued to dig in the dirt. Seeing this, my throat moved, and I swallowed my saliva unconsciously. It seems that tossing "balls" seems to be a way for one-legged cows to replenish their water.

The one-legged cows seemed to be patient, digging and digging in the riverbed. I got a little impatient, and I stopped looking at them, and simply rested against the stones. In the sky, the blue sun was running to the edge of the sky, and the red sun was still in the middle of the sky, and I felt that the temperature was starting to get cooler at this time.
