Chapter 13: Transfiguration Lesson I
Professor McGonagall also looked at the Slytherins waiting for them at the door, but unlike Link's curious gaze, Professor McGonagall's gaze was particularly sharp.
As she watched, the Slytherins, who had been noisy at the door, fell silent, and embraced Emily to take a seat on Professor McGonagall's right.
Quiet was quiet, but the Slytherins didn't show much reverence for Professor McGonagall.
One by one, their expressions were frivolous, with smiles in the corners of their eyes, and some of them even made small movements arrogantly below.
Seeing this, Professor McGonagall's already unsightly expression became even more ugly.
It's just that the Slytherins didn't break the school rules or disrupt classroom discipline, so Professor McGonagall, who upholds the belief in impartiality, doesn't criticize them too much.
Link also saw all of this in his eyes, and all he could say was that it was very Slytherin!
He was no stranger to Slytherin House, an ancient house with green and silver as its representative colors.
And just like the snake, the representative animal of their house, the Slytherin students have shown their personality traits such as intelligence, unscrupulousness, and ambition.
And because of the beliefs of the Academy's founder, Salazar Slytherin, Slytherin House generally only admits noble pure-blood wizards (i.e., children whose parents are wizards and have magical talents).
Of course, this tradition had all but dissipated when Dumbledore became Headmaster of Hogwarts.
Although there are still not many Muggle-born students in Slytherin House today, half-blood wizards make up the majority.
Despite this, there are still many heirs to pure-blood nobles within Slytherin, and these guys belong to wealthy and powerful families, some of which are even directly Hogwarts trustees.
With the power of these heirs, the Slytherins really don't fear Professor McGonagall like the other houses.
While Link was spying on the Slytherins, the Hufflepuffs arrived at the classroom.
However, unlike when Slytherin arrived, the Hufflepuffs were much more embarrassed.
Their expressions were tense and stiff, and many didn't even have the courage to glance in the direction of Professor McGonagall and the Slytherins.
What's more, it's like Link's three roommates.
Their hair was messy, their ties were crooked, and they had eye droppings hanging from the corners of their eyes, and they looked like they had just woken up.
All of this made Professor McGonagall on the podium snort.
And this snort, like a whip to drive away the flock, made the Hufflepuffs run much faster.
"Whew! I'm almost late!"
Link's roommate, John, sat down next to Link, panting.
Seeing this, Link couldn't help but ask:
"Didn't you wake up before I left? Why are you here now?"
The other party said embarrassedly:
"I want to get up directly, too, but my quilt seems to have been cursed by someone, and it won't let go of me, so I ......"
John was about to say something, but there was a muffled sound from the podium, and then Professor McGonagall glanced coldly at everyone in front of them and said:
"Start class!"
As soon as these words came out, the Hufflepuff crowd that was still buzzing suddenly fell silent, and even the Slytherins not far away had their expressions straightened.
Seeing this, Professor McGonagall's expression looked a little better, and with a flick of her wand in her hand, stones the size of eggs appeared on the table in front of everyone.
"Our lesson today is to turn this stone in front of you into an apple. β
Professor McGonagall said this, and most of the Hufflepuffs in the audience changed their faces.
Transfiguration is an extremely advanced science, and generally speaking, it can be divided into the change of shape of the same substance, the transformation of different substances, and the transformation of living creatures.
In addition to this, there are many other branches of Transfiguration, such as Human Transfiguration, Permanent Transfiguration, and the more advanced Animagus Transfiguration.
This time, Professor McGonagall assigned a class task that belongs to the category of conversion between different substances.
Although they had already tried this type of transformation in the first grade, the topic of changing from inorganic matter to organic matter was still as difficult as last year's final exam.
But Professor McGonagall didn't care about the Hufflepuffs' expressions, and she still preached to herself:
"I've told you about it last year, but I need to say it to you again!
According to the Law of Gamp's Transfiguration, wizards cannot conjure food out of thin air, nor can they consume food conjured through Transfiguration.
Because even if you eat it, you won't be able to absorb any nutrients from it, and you will suffer from indigestion as a result.
So please keep in mind that the apples we make in class must not be eaten, and I don't want to see any of you in this room being sent to the infirmary because of this!"
After that, Professor McGonagall glanced at everyone in the audience, and saw that everyone had listened to her words, and then waved her hand and said:
"Alright, now let's follow the steps we taught us last year to transform!"
"Got it! Professor McGonagall!"
The students in the audience shouted in unison.
But compared to the Slytherin side, the Hufflepuffs' voices were particularly lifeless.
Link didn't care so much, he raised his wand without saying a word, and aimed it at the stone in front of him.
For this Transfiguration class, he had already pre-studied the entire "Elementary Transfiguration Guide" early.
Although Link's move didn't give him any spell level related to Transfiguration due to its high difficulty, it did give him a general idea of Transfiguration.
Link believes that once he completes Professor McGonagall's coursework, the level of the Transfiguration spell will be activated!
Therefore, Link can be said to have taken out 120,000 points of spirit in this lesson!
It's a pity that some things can't be done with spirit alone, and Link's first attempt failed.
The stone in front of him was indeed deformed, but instead of becoming a real apple as he had imagined, it became an off-white stone apple.
"Whew!"
Seeing this, Link sighed and couldn't help but turn his head to look at the Slytherins not far away.
Many of them have already completed their transformations, and although most of the apples that have been conjured up are extremely ugly, there is no doubt that they are still apples.
The most perfectly shaped, of them all, was Emily, who sat in the middle of the crowd.
At this moment, she was holding her hands on her chest and looking at the ceiling with an indifferent expression, and in front of her was a beautiful red apple.
Professor McGonagall noticed the sight as well, and she looked at the apple for a moment, then nodded slightly:
"Victoria, you're doing well, Slytherin +10!"
There was a cheer from the Slytherin, but Emily didn't seem to be very interested, and the expression on her face didn't change in the slightest.
Such a cold posture made Link couldn't help but pout.
And at this moment, a familiar exclamation suddenly came from Link's ear.
