Chapter 4: The Attack on the Village of Manisa
Heavily armed, Griffith crosses flat country roads and crosses hills over creeks. For him personally, such marches have been a regular occurrence for the past two years.
According to his plan, he only had to march 30 miles on a good road to arrive before dusk, and he had to remain ready to fight during the operation.
The four-person adventure party I had seen earlier was in a hurry, as if they weren't going to fight but to snap up free apples.
Although they looked unreliable, Griffith habitually felt that he should join up with his allies as soon as possible. After ruling out the option of a militia brigade that needs to camp in the wilderness, the only way to try is to persuade the adventure team to stay in the village for one night, and wait for the next day to join up with the main militia force to destroy the lair.
......
Two hours after leaving town, the vague figure of the adventure party had appeared in front of the road. At this rate, there should be no problem in reaching Manisa Village before the sun goes down.
Thinking that the adventurers seemed to be reluctant to team up with outsiders, Griffith also relented, silently keeping a distance from them for the first time.
The road to the mountains began to become crooked and narrow, and the slopes on either side were obscured by dense trees. Griffith immediately became alarmed. In a place like this, an ambush is simply impossible to prevent!
At this time, a faint smell of blood wafted from ahead, and a wail with pain could be faintly heard.
Griffith hurriedly clenched his spear and stooped over into the woods beside him, weaving his way through them.
The adventure party sensed the situation after a while, and they all picked up their weapons and rushed forward.
Soon, there were shouts of fighting and roaring ahead, and the adventurer team that was walking in front had already entered the battle.
The fighting and shouting quickly subsided, and by the time Griffith arrived, he found a broken carriage parked at the edge of the road. The coachman and the pack horse pulling the cart had been stabbed in the stomach with a sharp weapon and were no longer breathing.
The four members of the adventure team were gathered around the carriage, the skinny nun was treating a man with a broken leg, and Bado, wielding his large axe, cut off the head from several green corpses scattered around, muttering as he chopped: One silver, two silver......"
"You're late, these are our trophies!" Miss Boxer, Ulan, noticed Griffith approaching, and immediately shouted with a straight face.
Yes, yes, I know. The apprentice knight nodded obediently at Miss Boxer, and bypassed them to inspect the scene.
"This Mr. Isis was attacked by a goblin while driving through here, and the coachman was killed," said the young swordsman Andy, pointing to the corpse on the ground as he wiped the blood from his sword, "Thankfully we arrived early, killing four and six escaped." Oh yes, this is the Griffith Cadet Knight of the Eastern Army. ”
Griffith followed the direction of the young swordsman's finger and saw four dwarf corpses with their heads cut off, gurgling black blood pouring from the wounds.
"Hello, Mr. Cadet Knight. The middle-aged man who was sitting on the ground and was receiving treatment endured the pain and said, "I'm the mage's apprentice Isis, and I came here to investigate the situation on the order of the mage, but I ended up halfway, oops!"
The trainee nun hurriedly apologized. Her prayers were not skillful, and a small failure occurred while treating the wound, tearing the otherwise minor knife wound a little more.
"Hello, Mr. Mage Apprentice. ”
Griffith nodded his helmet as a greeting, and continued to examine the scene of the battle.
The coachman's stomach was picked open, his intestines were pulled out, and his face was full of stiff pain. Dried blood and broken intestines littered the grass by the roadside.
"Mr. Isis, when were you attacked?"
Isis said as he bandaged his wounds: "About half an hour ago, four little monsters suddenly jumped out of the woods and killed the coachman. I had to stand on the shelves and defend myself with sticks, but fortunately they were too short to climb up, so I was at a stalemate for a while.
"Then, two of them started tearing the coachman's stomach, and the remaining two continued to attack me, also scratching my thighs. ”
"And then we'll be there!" said the Boxer Maiden proudly, "these guys even had ambush soldiers, and six more came out of the woods, but we easily beat them away. ”
"Why did they choose to attack during the day?" Griffith looked up at the sun, it was still early and it was still hot.
"Who knows~" Andy shrugged his shoulders indifferently.
At this point, Badu said, "By the way, if we continue on our journey, we can get to the village before dark, or do we go and search their lair? ”
"Slowly," Griffith hurriedly stopped, "Guys, let's go to Manisa Village together, and it's safer to join up with the town's militia tomorrow and go to encircle the lair." ”
The rest of the adventure party thought about it, and the Boxer Girl was very determined to go to the lair to get the goblin in the pot, but the other two had some hesitation on their faces.
"Wait!" exclaimed Isis, "I'll pay for 10 silver, and ask you to get my package back, which is full of materials and medicines that I have so easily gathered, and that have been snatched by those cunning goblins." We can follow their blood. ”
Hearing this request, the opinions of the adventure team began to unify, and the boxer girl thought it was a good idea.
"Mr. Knight-Trainee, could you come along?" asked Isis respectfully.
"No, I'm going to Manisa Village to help. ”
"There's no need, it's enough for the four of us!"
Griffiths and the Boxer Maiden's voices rang out almost simultaneously. Andy, the young swordsman, also had a visibly relieved sigh on his face.
"If you don't get your package back when it's almost dark, come to Manisa as soon as possible," Griffith said with no hope of bringing the adventurer team back to the village to defend it, "The forest at night is dangerous. ”
"Yes, yes. The boxer girl waved her hand impatiently. Her companion Badu began digging a pit in the ground to bury the coachman's body, while Andy helped the mage's assistant to walk into the woods.
......
As the sun was about to set, Griffith, who was walking alone, could already see the shadow of Manisa Village. Looking from the hillside to the plain where the village is located, the villagers are driving their livestock back to the village, and there is a peaceful scene.
Luckily, it caught up with ......
"桀桀桀~"
A sharp scream suddenly came. A large and small black dot suddenly poured out from the gradually dim earth. They move quickly across the flat ground, barely able to see the black dots knocking some of the unfortunate villagers to the ground. The villagers, who had not yet returned to their villages, were in disarray, and their miserable and frightened cries resounded through the fields.
Attacking at this time!?Is it about taking the gate when the villagers return to the village?
The midshipman who had left the front line had no horses to drive, and he continued to observe his surroundings as he trotted towards the village.
In the distance, a number of figures poured out of the village gates, waving long and short things in their hands. But they didn't seem to dare to go too far from the village gate, just desperately waved the weapons in their hands and shouted.
"That's not going to work!" Griffith, who was already less than 200 paces from the village, casually dropped the package on his shoulder, clenched his short gun in both hands and lunged at the back of the assailant chasing the villagers.
The distance between the two sides quickly narrowed, and in the dim light, the apprentice knight saw dozens of small monsters that were not much taller than children. They have pointed ears, green skin, and are tall and thin, wrapped only in filthy rags around their waists, and armed with sticks, machetes, and short guns.
Goblins!
The creatures screamed and pounced on the villagers they had caught, knocking them to the ground with a single stick, followed by a horde of small monsters swarming up and raining down on them with a variety of weapons. Occasionally, a few women were caught, and the goblins grabbed the women by the hair and clothes, dragging them backwards.
The goblins were completely oblivious to Griffith approaching from behind. However, once the battle begins, it is only a matter of time before they notice.
Their organizations must be brought down as soon as possible!
Griffith sprang up quickly, striking sideways with both guns in his hands. The inferior short spear used the speed of the impact to cut a large hole in the skulls of each of the two goblins, and red and white liquid splattered out. The woman, who was still screaming for help, suddenly noticed that the power that had grabbed her was gone, and then she heard a plop.
Griffith didn't look at his own results and the woman he had saved, and continued to trot. The goblins in the field were scattered everywhere like sesame seeds on a dough cake, and Griffith stabbed left and right with his short spear, and the goblins fell like waves of wheat blown by an autumn wind.
Some of the fallen little monsters were not immediately dead, rolling around and letting out a terrible scream. In the hustle and bustle of the field, the team of goblins who were suddenly attacked behind them did not understand what was happening, and they cracked like puddings thrown on the ground, and most of them gave up their prey and looked around nervously.
Griffith moves unhurriedly as he fights, picking on strong goblin warriors or goblins who are still holding on to the women of the village. Among his enemies were cunning and murderous, and they fought back at the apprentice knight with a sharp blade in hand, but these monsters were killed in an instant, and they were killed in an instant.
A green shadow suddenly leapt out of the grass and pounced on Griffith from the side. The Cadet stabbed it out of the air with a single shot.
Almost at the same time, a force slammed down on the helmet. Griffith was knocked to a staggering moment, reaching out and pulling a goblin with a hammer from the back of his head.
Is it a coincidence? The Apprentice Knight slammed the goblin to the ground, lifting his Iron Boots and smashing its head.
"Boom!" three more goblins pounced, and they suddenly dispersed four or five meters away from Griffith, one from the front, and two from both wings.
Hell, it's not a coincidence! Griffith let go of his hands, and before the spear could hit the ground, he drew a dagger and threw it to the right, then jumped sideways to the right, and in the process of jumping, pulled out another dagger and threw it at the goblin that pounced on the left.
"Ahh By the same time, the enemy in front had pounced, stabbing Griffith in the chest with a boning knife.
Griffith raised his hand to block it, and a flash of fire broke out from his sturdy gauntlet. Then, before the surprised enemy could react, Griffith grabbed the goblin's arm with his backhand and smashed it to the ground.
"Bah!" the little monster's head shattered against a rock.
They are capable of simple synergy...... Someone trained these creatures!
The apprentice knight took a breath, withdrew the dagger he had thrown, picked up his spear, and charged towards a small group of enemies. There was no one left with such a skilful group of enemies, and Griffith walked several laps around the not-so-large battlefield until all the goblins who dared to fight were killed. The remnants of the little monsters howled and fled north into the depths of the forest.
Killed almost fifteen, fifteen silver coins, huh. Griffith scanned the fields with satisfaction as he made sure there were no living enemies before pulling out his axe and cutting off the heads of the little monsters one by one and putting them in a pocket.
These filthy, murderous creatures really have nothing but broken weapons and rags around their waists.
Griffith quickly collected his loot and retrieved his bags, then made his way to the village gate.
At the gate of Manisa village were a number of villagers gathered as they comforted their neighbors who had escaped with their lives, and watched with wide eyes as the midshipman walked through the gate towards the village.
Carrying a short gun on his shoulder, Griffith, clad in double armor, walked with a steady stride, his iron boots crackling as he stepped on the ground. The frightened villagers consciously retreated to both sides as if they had encountered the tide of the reef.
