Section D, Chapter 26: Parrying the Dagger (Morse)
After pouring a large sip of liquid, Morse burped and wiped his mouth: "What's the matter, haven't you heard of it?"
"Parry the dagger? Seresa looked suspicious: "Can't any dagger be parried?"
"That's different, Seresya. The blacksmith put down the bottle: "The dagger for parryingβthat's its full name." Don't listen to the name, it's a melee weapon. β
"You mean, it's a treasure?" The man grabbed his slightly messy blonde hair and leaned back, "It can't be an enchanted weapon, right?"
"It's not. Morse shook his head: "Where are so many enchanted weapons? Seeing this shield sword today is enough to surprise me." β
"Parry dagger...... I think I've heard of it. The black-haired man leaned on the table with a thoughtful expression: "If I'm not mistaken...... It's for the Ihild Assassins, right?"
"That's right. Looking at Anusen, Morse nodded approvingly: "Mighty Ihild assassin." Their standard armament is a parry dagger and a dagger. β
"Ihilde......" Ceresya seemed interested, "The Assassin Order is very mysterious, and all the inside information is not revealed. And how did you get their parry dagger?"
"Didn't I say it, an old friend gave it to me. Morse tapped the bottle, "He's an Ihildian assassin, I can't tell you any more news." β
"I didn't want to ask. Mad Dog leaned back slightly: "Lao Tzu is only interested in that dagger - what is so special about it, so mysterious?"
"See for yourself, here it is. Pulling out the dagger from his waist, Morse burped it and pushed it towards the mad dog: "If you think it's convenient, just take it, it's a waste to leave me here anyway." β
"Yo, that's a good dare. I just like free stuff. Grinning, the golden retriever picked up the dagger and looked at it carefully: "Hmm...... This look is indeed quite chic. β
"You know why it's called a parry dagger? After another sip of wine, Morse looked directly at the dark golden hilt and said, "Double-edged white steel dagger." The two ends of the handle curved upwards to form side branches, parallel to the blade. The curved parts on both sides can parry a variety of slashing weapons, and it is convenient to use the muscle strength of the arms to push away the blade to counterattack. β
"Hmm......" Seeing that the mad dog was fascinated, Morse stroked his beard and continued: "The handle is made of non-slip material, so you don't have to worry about mistakes caused by slippery hands. As for the blade, it was designed with a wide blade in order to parry the stabbing and smashing of various weapons, and to block arrows. In addition, the depth of the blood groove makes it easy to pull out the ...... inside the body."
"Not bad, not bad. Seresa kept stroking the straight edge of the dagger, drew her bayonet and pushed it to Morse's side, "For the sake of this thing, I'll lend you a little longer." β
He happily took the bayonet sword, and just wanted to continue studying the pattern, when the mad dog's voice sounded again: "I said...... You just introduce those two sentences, nothing more to mention?"
"What else?" Morse was puzzled and looked up again: "Oh yes, the handle is made of dark gold, and the white steel has been specially processed during quenching, and the hardness is extraordinary......"
"Alright, let's talk less useless. Apparently dissatisfied with these instructions, Mad Dog rudely interrupted the blacksmith: "What's the matter with the two gems set in the hilt? β
"Ah, that's what you say. Morse was a little embarrassed: "Uh...... It really does seem like it's more than just decoration. The old friend's reluctance to mention the role of the gem was probably a secret within their assassins. β
"I think so. The mad dog snorted: "After a long time, you didn't even know what to do and took the dagger." Putting it in your hands is indeed a tyrannical thing. This thing should be used to lick blood, not to rust around your waist every day. β
"Uh...... That's why I gave it to you. Looking at Aya, who was fiddling with the pistol, Morse was extremely embarrassed: "Although I haven't used it, I still do it every day with due maintenance." β
"I can see that, the shine is not bad. Mad Dog coughed dryly: "How long have you been getting it?"
"Six or seven years. After a moment's reminiscence, Morse said: "You'd better practice more these days and try to use it in your next battle - it's not easy to harness it, talent and a lot of practice are indispensable." β
"The distance between this branch and the blade seems to be too short. Mad Dog narrowed his eyes and put down Lusha's little hand: "Cut, even Lusa's thin little finger can only be just stuffed in......"
"Don't you experiment with Lusa, okay?" the knight frowned, "What if you can't get out?"
"How is that possible?" Touching Lusa's head, Mad Dog cocked Erlang's legs, "I did this after comparing my sister for a long time." β
"Forget it, let's be serious...... It is indeed dangerous to parry it with it in the left hand. Anusen sighed: "With such a short effective block distance and range, there is no room for a single mistake. What's more, it is too difficult to accurately jam the sword with side branches. β
"Difficult things don't have to be bad. Picking up the parry dagger, Mad Dog stood up: "There's a lot of space here...... How, knight, do two exercises with me?"
"Yes, yes, yes. The knight looked hesitant: "Morse, do you practice using a blunt sword here......
"You don't need a blunt sword. Mad Dog interrupted the knight: "Just take the real thing." β
"What's wrong with your brain?" the knight glared at him, and simply vetoed: "Absolutely not, it's easy to get into trouble." β
"Here, blunt sword. Hurriedly crouching down, Morse picked up a blunt sword from the barrel and handed it to the knight: "That's right, the real guy can't just take it out and use it." The sword doesn't have long eyes, and maybe it will be injured. β
"Where did you get it from?" Mad Dog looked disgusted: "Forget it, it's okay to do so." Since it's a blunt sword, you don't have any psychological worries, knight? β
"No problem. Anusen took a deep breath and looked at Lusa, "Lusa, stand out of the way." β
After Aya hurriedly retreated, the knight raised his sword and lowered his body. The mad dog, on the other hand, wields a dagger and flips it in all directions in its hand.
Looking nervously at the two, Morse put down the bottle. At the moment of the sound of the glass striking, Anusen rushed forward and stabbed a sword.
Mad Dog quickly retreated, raising the dagger in his hand to block the assault with the blade. Quickly retracting his sword, the knight slashed at the mad dog's head with a flick of his sword.
Cereya's wrist was slightly lowered, and the entire dagger flipped due to gravity, and after the transformation of five fingers, it quickly returned to an upright state. There was no gaps in the movement, and the parry dagger moved up quickly under the traction of the wrist, just in time to jam the split longsword with the right side branch.
With the sound of metal clashing, the knight drew his blunt sword with a look of great difficulty, and staggered back due to inertia. Hurrying forward, he raised his arm and slashed again.
However, at this moment, Mad Dog made an unexpected move. Instead of parrying in the usual way, he moved his fingers to keep the dagger spinning quickly, and thus met the blade.
The moment the blades clashed and metal collided, the knight's blunt sword jerked out of his hand and flew several meters away.
