Chapter 8: The Hidden City
50 years.
In the middle reaches of the Great River West Ryan, there is a West Ryan swamp. It is located in the southwest corner of Doriath, the kingdom of the Sindar elves. The Alos River, which is halfway around the border of Doriath, flows into the West Ryan River from the strip north of the West Ryan Marshes. The area between the Alos and West Ryan rivers is known as the Irin Weiao, which translates to "shimmering pond" in the Sinda language.
It's early summer, and the heat hasn't completely enveloped the whole of Beleriand. Because of the West Ryan Marshes, the river is very humid. From here, you can look northeast to the vast forest kingdom of Doriath. After a few days of rain, the West Ryan River ushered in its first flood season in early summer. The water is abundant, washing away the solidified mud in the West Ryan swamps. The river flooded with sediment that had settled at the bottom of the swamp, and that mud muddied part of the river and left it in the swamp. Only a portion of the river rushed across the other end of the swamp towards the lower reaches of the West Ryan River.
The night gradually quieted down the sound of running water. On the west bank of the river, two figures on white horses ran by, breaking the silence of the moment. Those were two male elves. They laughed and galloped as if they were competing in horsemanship. One of the two elves had black hair, the other blonde. The black-haired elf wore a red shirt underneath and a black robe trimmed with gold trim on the outside. He wears a ring on his head that symbolizes status, and he looks handsome and moving. He was the later king of Gondolin, Turgon. But now, he still lives in Wenyama on the coast. And the idea of Gondolin has not yet been born.
Another blonde elf is Finrod, the son of Finaffin. He was even more handsome than Turgon. The Noldor elves said that Finrod was the most handsome male Noldor in the world at that time, and even many beautiful female elves could hardly match his face. At this time, he was wearing a brown shirt and a black robe, which set off his tall and heroic posture.
At this time, Turgong rode in front, and Finrod chased behind. In this early summer, they met to travel south along the West Ryan River, and they laughed and laughed pleasantly. How many of the Noldor elves have tried to pursue these two royal families. If one of them were there, and heard the laughter echoing in the summer night breeze, I wonder how many reveries would drift through my mind.
"Turgon, I'll catch up with you in no time!" Finrod shouted forward with a smile.
Turgong also smiled and looked back: "After staying in the garrison tower for so long, your riding skills have regressed, Finrod. Turgong shook his head proudly, "Catch up with me as you say!"
Hearing him say this, Finrod flicked the reins a few times. The steed under his feet suddenly began to accelerate. He gradually became on a par with Turgon. Turgon, seeing him catch up, thought of a prank. He leaped from his horse and took advantage of the relative stillness of the two horses to leap sideways onto Finrod's horse. He fell behind Finrod. His original horse stopped running because he had lost the rider on his back. Finrod's horse raised its two front hooves and neighed loudly because of the sudden increase in the weight on his back. Finrod and Turgong tumbled backwards and fell on the soft mud grass. The ground had become damp from the rain a few days earlier, and their clothes were all stained. The two lay on the ground, glanced at each other, and laughed awkwardly. The two horses returned to their masters.
"Thanks to you, Turgon. Finrod patted Turgon's arm, "I must have an injury on my back." And I had to go back to my brother Olodris in such a state of embarrassment. β
Turgun sat up slowly, his back covered in grass and mud. He felt a tearing pain in his back. "I'm sorry, friend, but I shouldn't have hurt too much. Haha!" he laughed, "it's been a long time since we've had such a presumptuous." Ever since we left Amen Island. He suddenly became serious.
Finrod nodded, he understood Turgon, because he was also caught up in the longing for the Western Continent. Turgong stood up and held out his hand to him, pulling him up from the ground. Next to it is the gently flowing West Ryan River. The sound of the murmuring water lured them towards it. Finrod went to the river first. The riverbed gets deeper and deeper closer to the center, and on the shore it is only up to the elf's waist. Finrod was suffering from the pain in his back because of the nonsense he had just done, and now he just wanted to go to the river to wash off the blood on his back.
He took off his robe and shirt on the shore. Then he walked into the river wearing only a pair of pants. The skin had been scratched in many places on his smooth back, and blood was oozing from those wounds. Turgon's back was not spared. He removed a silk scarf from his horse and jumped into the water as well. He felt the cool water caress his wounds, and the blood on his back was gradually washed away. He walked over to Finrod, who was holding his hand to his back in an awkward position.
"I'll wipe it for you, and I'll apologize to you. Turgong said.
As he spoke, he took the silk scarf he had brought with him and began to wipe Finrod's back. Then Finrod also helped him wipe it. Halfway through, he suddenly stroked Turgon's hair. "It's been so long since you've lost her, haven't you looked for a new partner? Finrod asked with a smile. The man he spoke of was the wife of Turgon, who died on the way out of Amen.
"I love her so much, friend. Turgong was silent for a moment before speaking, "I now put all this love on our daughter Izar. β
As he spoke, Turgong suddenly looked at Finrod, he pushed Finrod's hand away, took the silk scarf and washed it in the water. He squeezed out a thick pool of blood from the silk scarf. "You, who have the most handsome face of the Noldor, have not been married to any of the elven princesses. You have your father's Finafin in your veins, and you need to have an heir. β
Finrod began to walk towards the shore, and Turgong followed. As he walked, Finrod said, "My loved ones are separated from my destiny. She is Amariyi of the Banu Vanya, and before I could be with her, the Noldor began to go into exile. She and I are now cut off by the sea. He came to shore, picked up his clothes and looked at them, "And the question of blood." My brother Olodris's daughter, Fenduirath, is now in the blood of the Finarfines. β
Turgong nodded. He found that his and Finrod's clothes had become dirty. They sat on the banks of the river, washed their clothes with the water of the river, and spread them on horseback. After that, they took out a blanket and spread it on the grass and lay on their side on top of it. Their wounds still ached. Because of the fatigue of the journey, they quickly fell asleep.
Turgong had a dream. In the dream, Turgong found himself waking up on a mirror-like surface of water, and no matter what direction he looked, he could not see the boundary of the water. The sky glows orange, reflecting the mirrors red. Turgon found himself standing on the water, as if he were walking on the ground. He crouched down in amazement, stretched out his hand to ripple the mirror, and realized that it was indeed water.
"What is this place?" said Turgon.
A deep voice suddenly sounded: "Son of Fen Guoyan, please listen to Wu Oumu's warning. At that moment, Turgong felt like a terrifying, unknown giant creature from the depths. Turgong looked down and saw a huge whale swimming slowly below the surface. The fear from the deep sea made it difficult for him to breathe for a moment, and he suddenly collapsed on the mirror.
"Do not be afraid, mortal. Uomu's voice rang out again, "My warning is crucial, and it concerns the fate of your people. The voice struck Turgon's heart, "You must remember the curse on your people. Whatever you are now in this expedition you will be victorious against, but the doom that is certain will surely come your way. β
Turgong still looked around in a panic, but rationally he still remembered these words in his heart. "You have to be ready for the coming end. In the midst of war, you need a land that you can defend. After saying this, his voice gradually faded. Turgun saw the whale drift away. The light in the sky was getting brighter and brighter, and the bright Turgong couldn't open his eyes. Then Turgong left the mirror of the dream and returned to reality. When he woke up, Finrod was still lying beside him. He saw the sky crimson through the woods of Dorias in the east. He knew it was about to dawn.
He thought about everything in his dream and didn't know what it meant. He had the idea that he would find a hidden valley and build a city where his people would live in peace, and he would name that city Gondolin. He wanted to make the city as beautiful as the Tyriam of the West.
But what he didn't know was that Finrod had received the same warning in his dream last night. When Finrod also woke up, they returned north along the West Ryan River. Neither side mentioned their dreams. In the years that followed, Finrod was inspired by a dream he had tonight and built an underground city in the south, Nagoth Lund.

Twenty-four years have passed since Arityl told his son Mai Green about the past of this world. It is now 400 years since the moon rose into the sky. Over the years, Mygreen has also grown up a lot. Now he is close to adulthood. From a human point of view, he was almost sixteen or seventeen years old.
Over the years, humans have migrated from the small town of Estorade, south of the South Elmos Glade. They knew early on that the Harets had moved to the Brehill Forest in West Bereriand. King Singar, who believed that he was under his rule, had agreed to their relocation, and the Noldor speculated that it might be because the Hareth could be used as a shield for Dorias if Morgoth's army broke through the Sirian Valley and headed south.
It is also reported that the humans of the Beo family have been granted a fief for their allegiance to Finrod, King of Nago Slund. Finrod's two younger brothers, Angrod and Agnor, ruled the Dosunian Heights, north of Beleriand. They gave them a small plot of land in the northeastern part of the Highlands, Ladelos, and they moved there.
The Marreh family, for their allegiance to the Finn family, acquired a fiefdom in Heslum, Dolomin. Now this family is called the Hado family because their current patriarch is Hado, a descendant of Ma Ruihe. In this way, the human race lived in the land of the elven kings, and Estorald was gradually deserted.
Time has passed to the present. Tonight was an early summer night like the night Turgong had been warned by the god of water in his dream, Uomu. McGlin was in his room at this time. During the day, his father, Eor, suddenly wanted to take him to the plains west of the woodland to learn how to ride. In the summers of previous years, he could not feel the summer heat because of the protection of the woodland. And today, he finally knew how powerful Beleriander's hot summer was. He had been studying equestrianism for a day on the plains, and when he came back in the evening, he was completely drenched with sweat.
Then he went back to his room. He is now taking off his shirt. Even in summer, the cold, damp woodland environment and sweaty clothes made him uncomfortable. He felt a foul smell on his clothes, so he threw it on the ground. His mother, Arityl, suddenly pushed open the door and walked in. In fact, he didn't know why he reacted so strongly at this time. In fact, in his childhood memory, his mother bathed him countless times, but the subconscious made him turn around immediately, not wanting his mother to see him.
Arettir laughed when she understood the meaning of her son's action. Arettir knew he had finally grown up. She felt relieved that her long-held quest was coming to an end. She approached her son and wanted to turn to him. Her son, however, turned sideways in the direction she was walking, avoiding her. Arettir put her arm around his shoulders and told him to turn.
"Romian, you're already an adult. Arettir said, looking him in the eye.
She took Mai Green to the edge of the bed. She knew she couldn't think of him as a child anymore. There are some things that she has to tell him as a parent. She spoke, "I'll ask you a question, don't be shy, answer me truthfully, okay?" Maiglin agreed with silence, and Arritil continued, "I ask you, do you often think of elves of the opposite sex in your mind?"
First silent, then red-faced, Maiglin nodded. "So, when you think of them, do you feel like you've changed a lot?" was still answered in the affirmative by Mai Green.
Suddenly McGreen opened his mouth and asked his mother anxiously, "Why is that?" I felt a sense of emptiness, I felt that it was about to consume me. β
Arettir burst out laughing. "It's a complex emotion in the hearts of mortals. When a mortal reaches the age of coming of age, this sense of emptiness arises. Until the person finds their significant other, they fill in that sense of emptiness with each other. β
"Mother, can you fill it up?" Maiglin looked at Arettir blankly.
Arettir looked at him with a smile: "It's not me who is destined to fill for you. β
"This ...... Shame on me. β
His mother put her arms around him: "You don't have to be too ashamed of these things, because that's where you were born." But you can't be too casual, unless that person is the other half of your life. Arettir said and stood up, "Alright, let's go take a shower!" With that, she walked out of the room.
As if he didn't understand, he sat on the edge of the bed for a long time, then got up and went into the bucket full of hot water to bathe. He had been fantasizing about what kind of person would fill the void in his heart.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
That night, he dreamed of a girl who looked slightly older than him. The girl stood on the white street. She smiled at Mai Green and walked over to him. The girl told him that this was Gondolin, and in a dream he and the girl walked through the streets of Gondolin, with whom he had promised a lifetime.
After waking up, he immediately found a blank piece of paper and drew the appearance of the girl in his memory. He took the portrait to his mother, because in the dream the girl said that she was from Gondolin. He had a hunch that it wasn't out of nowhere. He asked his mother if she knew the girl, but Arettir was stunned.
"I don't know what kind of coincidence it is, but the person you painted does exist. "I hope you will break off this idea as soon as possible, for the girl you dream of is the princess of Gondolin, Ishel, the daughter of your uncle." In the laws of the Noldor people, consanguineous marriage is not allowed. β
But Maiglin still wanted to find the girl. He thought to himself that although the two of them could not be married, that would not stop the two from becoming friends. At noon that day, he said to his father, "I want to go to my mother's hometown." β
This was met with an unexpected reply. Eore slapped him hard and said to him, "You belong to Eor's family!" and his voice was stern and frightening, "You're not a Noldor elf! I'm not going to let my son deal with those people who killed my kindred!"
Eol's ordered him to be grounded until the end of the summer. He was not allowed to leave the stone house for half a step until autumn came. He then saw his father push Arettir into the room, where the sound of Eor beating her and her screams could be heard. He immediately regretted that he had said something he shouldn't have said. He understood that he had let his mother's secret come to light.
But the curiosity about the girl grew stronger. That summer, his father's violence against his mother increased. One day in the middle of summer, Eor abruptly left the woodland. Before leaving, Eore said to Mai Green, "I have gone to the dwarven city of Nogrod for a feast. I was going to take you with me, but your lockdown hasn't been lifted yet. Therefore, you leave me here and wait for me to come back. Then he rode away on a white horse. There were originally two horses, one black and one white, in the stable, but now there is only one black horse left.
As in previous years, he went to the dwarven city without any weapons. Eor left his sword, Angveriel, in the Stone House's arsenal.
As the end of summer approached, McGlin's curiosity grew. His heart began to drive him to Gondolin. That morning, he found a stool to sit at the door of the stone house, which he had always done during the summer of being grounded. When he saw his mother, Arretil, passing by him and about to walk out of the stone house, Mai Green took her hand. Arettir's hands and face were covered in bruised-purple bumps, which he knew was caused by his father.
"Mother, can you listen to me?" he asked, his eyes full of anticipation.
Arityr's hard heart was softened by his eyes. She also took a stool and sat down beside Mai Green. "My son, tell me what's bothering you. β
"My father hasn't come back yet. Let's get out of here while there's still time!" Mai Green stared at Arityl tightly. Arettir thought he was joking, but the determined look in his eyes proved her wrong.
Arettir stood up: "Get out of here, are you going to betray your father?"
"Don't you want to leave, Mother?" Mai Green stood up and put his arm around her shoulder. Arettir suddenly felt that Mai Green was much taller than she remembered, "He is violent to you in his anger, do you have to endure this life here all the time? We don't live here, we are imprisoned here." β
His mother was stunned by his words. She never knew that Mai Green had such thoughts in her heart, and she began to blame herself, she had always thought that Mai Green would always be a child and would not understand her pain. She began to cry because all the hard work she had been working on was now paying off. Arettir held back her sobs and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes: "Where can we go when we get out of here?"
"Gondolin!" Maiglin blurted out, "though it's still a vague idea to me. I didn't know where it was, and you didn't tell me. He said to his mother in an impassioned voice, "Take me to find Gondolin!
McGreen's words seem to have had an effect. Arettir faltered. But a sudden surge of fear welled up in Arettir's heart. She remembered that the Maia, named Uny, had warned her never to go back to Gondolin. After all these years of living in the woodland, she really didn't want to go back. She had thought she could escape Uny's prophecy that she would bring about the destruction of Gondolim. But her son is now pushing Gondorin to his final end. That's when Arettir realized that Vera's prophecy would always come true, as the river of time rolled forward. So she was relieved about the prophecy. A big stone in her heart fell. If she is destined to bring the end of Gangdorin, then she is even willing to destroy the whole world in order to give her son what she wants to pursue.
"I promise you, son. After a long silence, Arettir spoke, "We'll slip away at midnight today. β
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
That night, they pretended to go back to their bedrooms to rest. But Arettir and Mai Green agreed to keep themselves awake at night. They planned to take advantage of the darkness of the night and leave while the servants were asleep. When the voices in the stone house were completely quiet, Mai Green jumped out of bed. He put on his thin clothes and quietly pushed open the bedroom door and walked outside, the hallway was empty and pitch black. He groped his way to his mother's door. Mother pushed the door open at the same time, and they startled each other.
Arettir made a quiet gesture to her son and walked back to the room. She picked up a bag containing clothes that the two of them could change into along the way, some bread, the dagger she had brought with her when she came, and other things she might have used on the way. Among those clothes, Arettil specially put on the dress that Uni had left for her. This was because she knew that on their way back they would have to pass through the valley of Nandon Pot, which was full of giant spiders. When Uni gave her the dress, she said that there was magic in the dress to prevent the monsters from harming her.
They walked out of the room with their baggage and came to the door of the stone house. They quietly pushed the door open, lest the loud noise wake the sleeping servants. The sky outside the door lit up slightly. It was then that McGreen suddenly ran back. Arettir was frightened by him, as such an act could frustrate their plans and even expose them to the burning wrath of Eor.
After waiting for a few minutes, Mai Green came out of the stone house again. In his hand he held his father's sword, Angweiriel. "I needed it more than my father, so I sneaked into his arsenal and stole it out. He smiled at his mother. Maiglin found that he felt no sin for stealing his father's beloved. Arettir felt a shadow cast over her son's smile. Her son is changing in a direction that is beyond her control.
They came to the stables, took the last black horse, hung all their baggage in the saddle, and then they left the woodland. When we came to the edge of the woodland, the sky brightened. Arettir breathed hard into the fresh air outside the woodland, as if he hadn't breathed in decades. However, after decades of such a life, she really felt this way when she regained her freedom.
It was at this moment that they suddenly heard a cacophony coming from the woodland. They knew that the servants had discovered their disappearance. Now they began to search the woodland. Arettir felt that they had to cross the Chiron River north at once, and she didn't want to be discovered by the servants. It backfired, because they could only walk with two people leading the horses, so the speed was very slow. By the time they had reached the other side of the Kailon River, a group of servants had already come out of the woodland. They took advantage of the morning light to see the two men who were fleeing from a distance, and immediately chased after them.
The servants didn't need to carry any heavy baggage, so they ran very fast. They brought the mother and son closer. By this time they had reached a place about a hundred feet behind the mother and son. The distance was still getting closer, and Maiglin led the horse, but the speed was still not fast. They knew that the only way to escape now was to ride away on the black horse, but the saddle could not hold either of them.
Just as the servants were about to chase after them, there was a sudden sound of horses' hooves from the flanks. A horse, without a saddle and an iron hoop, crossed out from the side, blocking between the two sides. When the servants were forced to stop, it caught up with Arretil and Maiglin in the north. It came to them. Mother and son stopped and looked at it. Arettir felt that the horse in front of him was very familiar.
"Asfarus?" said Arityr.
Maiglin had heard his mother mention the horse. It was originally the mount of Glorfindel, Lord of the Golden Flower of Gondolin. It carried its mother through a great deal of hardship, and when it came to the banks of the Chiron River, she gave it freedom. And now, at this critical moment, this horse actually appeared in front of them again, bringing them hope.
"Mother, let's run on one horse!" he said to Arityr. Arettir nodded.
Immediately, Maiglin tried to ride on Asfarus, who did not have a saddle. But the moment he rode on its back, Asfarus suddenly stood up and wanted to throw off Mai Green. Maiglin clung to the horse's neck to prevent it from falling. Arettir immediately grabbed Maiglin and took him down. She found that McGlin was much heavier than she remembered. The moment Maiglin left his horse, Asphalos stopped his agitation.
The servants behind him were catching up again. Arettir knew that it would be more than a month before Eor returned, and that if they got rid of these servants, they would be able to escape Eor's control forever. So Arettir didn't have time to think about what Asfarus's rejection of Myglin just now meant, so he rode on Asfarus's back himself. Immediately, Mai Green also tacitly rode another black horse. Two horses, one black and one white, galloped at the same time.
The servants watched as the mother and son faded away before disappearing from view. They abandoned the chase and accepted the fact that Arettir and Mai Green had fled. They looked at each other and decided to go back to the woodland first. They knew that Eor's anger would be taken out on them, but they could only think of a countermeasure later.
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
The journey back to Gondorin was much easier than when Arretil left there. It took them only fifteen days to reach the plain of Dimpald, south of Gondolin. They didn't encounter any obstacles along the way. When they marched north on the Himmlad plain ruled by Klegon and Kurjufen, they were not hindered in any way. They then crossed the Silent Land of Doldinen, crossed the Ianteiau Bridge, and entered the Valley of Horror and Death, Nandon Potseb.
Before entering that valley, Arettir changed his clothes. She wore the dress that Maia Uni had given her. While his mother was changing her clothes, Maiglin looked away. In this way, they crossed the Valley of Terror, without the danger of encountering giant spiders. It turns out that the dress really worked.
After crossing the Mindibu River, they finally felt that autumn had arrived. They walked on the plains of Dinbar, where the meadows had turned yellow. As they looked south, the trees of the vast kingdom of Dorias began to fade their vibrant greens to the same color as the meadows of Dimbar. As the weather grew colder, Arettir could only curl up in a trembling ball for a few nights in a dress. Out of concern for his mother, Mai Green wanted to hug her like this and make her feel warm in his arms. But he was ashamed to do so because of gender differences and ethical constraints, so he let his mother tremble in the autumn wind with a tangle.
On the afternoon of the fifteenth day after they left the South Elmos Glade, they finally came to the banks of the West Ryan River. There they dismounted, leaving the two horses where they were. Arettir wants to give the two horses freedom. But when they released the two horses in the grass and were about to leave them, both horses let out a long, miserable neighing sound at the same time.
Knowing that no one could be following them, Arettir felt that the neighing of the two horses would alarm those who shouldn't have noticed them. So Arettir and Maiglin chose to get back on them.
They followed the West Ryan River up the river and reached the point where the wadi joins the West Ryan River. They went north against the dry. They walked for more than seven hours in a row, and they didn't stop until late at night. Because Arretil told Maiglin that he could reach Gondolin in the early hours of the next morning.
Much sooner than expected, by midnight they had reached the entrance to the Hidden Path. They saw a cave in the middle of the mountain, from which the source of the wadi was gurgling. Arettir felt a familiar and strange sensation as her throat choked and tears slid down her cheeks. Mai Green resisted the urge to wipe her tears, for the same reason that he was unwilling to hug her mother and give her warmth.
"It's finally back......" Arettil smiled, his face beaming with happiness but still showing traces of tears. Arettir and her son will start a new life here. Ior may also give up his search for them and continue to rule his woodlands in peace. She actually felt a faint sense of guilt for betraying Eor. However, she believed that their mother and son didn't matter to him, so it didn't matter much to Eor. In this way, everyone is happy.
Together with his mother, Mai Green walked along the banks of the wadi into the hidden cave. They had now dismounted from their horses and were walking on ropes. They walked through the dark caverns, and because they couldn't see the way clearly, they accidentally stepped into the flowing wadi several times. It wasn't until later that the source of the wadi appeared in front of them, a clear spring on the wall. The rest of the road is much easier because the rest of the cave is flat ground.
As he walked, Maiglin could faintly see a faint blue glow in front of him. Footsteps were heard. At this time, Mai Green walked in front to help her mother find the way. He was the first to see the elven guard walking by. He carried a blue Fianor lamp in his hand. He saw Mai Green and thought he was the Sindar elf who had strayed in. He immediately drew his sword and rushed forward. Seeing this, Mai Green drew his sword, which had belonged to his father, Angwereel. The guard slashed his sword at Mai Green, which was blocked by Mai Green with Ang Wei Rielga. The elf threw the Fianor lamp on the ground, and the hand that had carried the lamp grasped the hilt of the sword and pressed it down hard against Maigrin. Through the faint light of the lamp on the ground, Arettir saw that the elf in front of him was none other than Eren Machir, the captain of the guard who guarded the hidden path. She immediately ran up and drew her dagger to pull away the two of them from the middle. "Stop!"
Maiglin and Ellen Marchir raised their swords again, looking like they were going to meet again. Because it was dark in the cave, they couldn't see each other's faces. Arettir reacted and picked up the FΓ«anor Lamp that had fallen to the ground, illuminating her face in front of Ellen Machir.
"It's me, Arityr, your White Princess!" shouted Arityr.
Ellen Marchir saw her face and let go of her hand. There was a look of surprise in his eyes. It's like meeting a ghost. At the same time, as if enchanted, Mai Green raised his sword and slashed at Eren Machir. Arettir hurriedly stopped his son from his side. Mai Green became a different person in front of her. After being stopped by his mother, Mai Green stopped his efforts and glared at Ellen Marchir.
The Captain of the Guard's attention was entirely on Arityr. When the captain of the guard confirmed that the elf in front of him was really Arityr, he could no longer suppress his joy. He shouted towards the deeper part of the cavern, "Come out and see! When they saw Arettir, they had the same expression as Ellen Marchir.
"This is my son, McGreen. Arettir said, recognizing the surprise in Ellen Machre's eyes, "It's a long story, and it's hard to tell in a few words." Take me to Turgon, I miss him so much. Her throat choked again. She had to face this man, the brother she had hurt.
Ellen Machir nodded, and led the mother and son through the hidden road. They made their way to the Wood Gate. The captain of the guard shouted to the other side of the door, and the wooden door opened. They then passed through the wooden gate to the other end of the cave. The mother and son, who had seen the light of day again, looked up at the sky and found that it was close to dawn. They are now in the rift valley that surrounds the mountains around the Tum* Valley, that is, on the road around the mountains. Including the wooden gates, there are a total of six gates erected in the rift. Ellen Marchir led them through the gates, and the further they went, the higher the gates were built and the more guards there were. The guards at the gate were soldiers of the Yongquan family. They were all dressed in black armor, and Ellen Marchir was naturally one of them.
In this way, when they passed through the remaining Gates of Stone, Bronze, Iron, Silver, and Gold, the scenery around them suddenly became clear. The valley of Toum*, about twenty miles in diameter, appeared before them. Surrounded by mountains, there is actually a plain. In the middle of the plain, they saw in the distance a green hill with a white city on top of it. The buildings in the city are staggered. Arettir knew that this was Gondolin. This is the city she once tried to flee from, and it is also the city that she has always wanted to return to but did not dare to return to. She looked over to Gondolin, and the dawn set off the green knoll called Amung-Vares like an emerald on the plain. Arettir thought: Maybe only once you have lost it can you really know its beauty. Perhaps this is the charm of Gondolin!
By this time the sun had risen in the east. A fair-skinned elf approached. He had straight black hair that was draped all the way to his back. He wears a white silk coat lined with a piece of chain mail. He wore a necklace of pearls around his neck, a sword around his waist, and a flute tied with a ribbon.
"Look who this is, my lord!" said Ellen Machir to the elf with unconcealed excitement.
That elf was Exerian, lord of the Springs family. When he saw Arityr, he showed a hint of surprise on his usually calm face. But he quickly came to his senses from his surprise. He began to look at McGreen closely. From the look in Mai Green's eyes, Exerian probably guessed his identity. He walked up to the white steed Aspharos and patted the horse on the neck. "Asfarus, Glorfindel is worried about you!" he pulled a horse from the stable, and motioned for mother and son to mount their respective horses. And they did.
Exerian led them through the plains of the Tum* Valley, and gradually came to the pure white staircase that led to the hill of Amungvaris. Above the staircase is the main gate of Gondolin facing west. As they rode up the pure white steps, Exerian shouted a Quenya word to the walls of Gondolim. The main door slowly opened. And thus they entered into the main door.
Guarding the main gate are the Golden Flower Family and the Wing Protector Family. Grofindel, the lord of the Golden Flower family, greeted the three. He wears a dark green vest with a gold trim on the collar. She wore a white shirt underneath. He wears a green cloak on his back. His long, blonde hair was draped over a green cloak.
Exerian gestured to him, and he saw Arityr, unsurprisingly surprised. Exerian then turned and rode away. Mother and son dismounted, and Glorfindel led their horses. Arettir could see joy in his heart, as he was reunited with his mount and friend Asphalos. He whispered in Asphalus' ear, and the white steed made a popping sound. Arettir began to blame herself for leaving them on Aspharos without permission.
Egalmos, the lord of the Winged Family, came to the mother and son. He is also the lord of the Rainbow Family. He wears a red shirt and black waistcoat, with a gold-trimmed cape on a blue background behind him. His gray hair was combed behind his back, and two strands of braid were braided with string and hung to his chest. "Welcome back to Gondolin, White Princess. He said to Arettir, "Follow me to the King's Tower." Your Majesty Turgong is not yet aware of your return. β
So the mother and son were led by him through the main street on the center line of Gondolin. It's morning, and rows of Noldor elves have gathered on each side of the street. No sooner had they gotten up from their beds than they heard the news of the White Princess's return to the city. So they gathered in the streets, pointing at Arettir with surprise and looking at her as if they were watching a miracle. Others whispered about who the elf Arettir had brought with them.
They came to the King's Square and looked up at the King's Tower. Arettir was on the verge of crying again, because this was where she had lived. Her former dormitory was located on this white tower. Egalmos told them to wait here and walked in through the main entrance of the tower. Arettir looked south, and she saw the temple four hundred feet away, Gar-Aynian. She recalls the days when she lived in Gondolin, and on the day of the Summer Gate on the eve of the hot summer, she would go to the temple to worship the eight of the fourteen most powerful of the Veras.
Soon after, Egalmos came out. He led Arettir and Maiglin into the main hall and left. Turgon was sitting on a throne of black stone at the bottom of the main hall. Salgant, lord of the Harp and Mole families, was standing next to the throne, speaking to the king. Salgant is a rare chubby figure among elves, with a fair complexion. He has curly black shawl hair. He wears a white shirt and a black and gold jacket. He had a necklace around his neck.
When Turgong saw Arityr, he immediately rushed up and hugged her. "You're finally back, sister!" he clutched his sister tightly in his arms, tears streaming down his eyes. And Arettir cried too. She snuggled in her brother's arms with enjoyment. At that moment, Mai Green suddenly felt that his mother was very small.
After a while, Arettir turned and pulled Maiglin in front of him. "This is your nephew Romian, brother. "It's a long story. β
Turgong looked at Mai Green with affection in his eyes. This is his sister's son, and Turgong has made a decision in his heart that he wants to treat Maiglin as if he were a close relative. Except for his own daughter, Igiel, he had never had such a cordiality with any junior.
"Someone!" Turgun shouted, and Beam Pillar and Lord Punrod of the Snow Tower family stepped out of the corridor on the side of the main hall, "Take Romien to his bedchamber!"
Punlord wears a plain white shirt and coat with a piece of chain mail in between. His hair is gray, but his face looks young. He is very tall. He nodded, beckoned to McGreen, and then McGlin followed him.
Turgong sat back on his throne, while Arettir sat on a white stone seat on the side of the main hall. In this way, she told Turgon how she had made it through the Valley of the Terrible Death, how she had lived with Kellergun and Kurufin, and how she had traveled to the South Elmos Glade, where she was forcibly married by Eor and gave birth to Mai Green. But she was hiding a lot of things. For example, the ambiguity with FΓ«anor's son Kellergon, and the warning given to her by Maia Uni.
"So, the man I saw in South Elmos that winter was really you?" asked Turgon. Arettir nodded at him. "Then I regret not bringing you back too soon. At the time, I mistook you for a Sindar elf. Turgong patted his head, and he could see that he was remorseful. He could have saved Arettir from suffering for a full eighty years.
They talked like this until the afternoon, and the topic was like they couldn't finish talking about it. This is a short period of eighty-four years for elves, which is really too long.

Punlord led Mai Green through the corridors of the side wing of the main hall to the outer ring of the tower. The outer ring of the King's Tower is a spiraling staircase made of white stone. On the outside of the steps are windows with elaborate carvings. Halfway up the stairs, Punlord stopped. Maiglin saw that there was a door leading up to a hallway. There are many doors on both sides of the hallway. This is a dormitory.
At the end of the corridor is a floor-to-ceiling window that offers a panoramic view of the city. Punlord led him down the hallway, and then to a door. The lord pushed open the door to the dormitory for him, and Maiglin entered, stunned by the ornate dΓ©cor inside. All this time, he lived in a small bedroom in that stone house. He marveled at the Noldor building craftsmanship and design. In these respects, his father's clan was indeed slightly inferior.
There was a bed in the dormitory, a window in the wall, and a table full of books and pen and paper under the window. Ponrod spoke: "Your Highness Romean, this will be your bedroom in the future. He bowed slightly, then turned to leave. Maiglin took a closer look around his room, then sat down at the table.
He flipped through a few books that lay on the table. Among these books, there are books in Sinda and Quenya, written in Tengwa script. It was difficult for Maiglin to read books in Quenya, but the ones in Sinda were much easier. He casually flipped through a few books, most of which dealt with some of the Noldor techniques in the processing of jewelry. In fact, he is still very interested in these things, because he has always been nurtured by the dwarf race. But now he has no intention of reading these words.
He remembered another purpose for his visit. He had come to find Izar. He still didn't dare to imagine that one of his dreams would drive him to a strange city to find a girl he had never met. And this girl is still a close relative of herself, and they can't have a future.
He walked out of the dormitory and into the hallway. Maiglin was walking down the hallway when he suddenly heard singing from the room next to the floor-to-ceiling window at the end. It was a brisk girl's singing voice, singing the songs of the Noldor tribe. He saw the door at the end of the hallway open, and ran over at once. He remembered that he had heard this voice in his dream.
The closer he got to the door, the faster his heart beat faster. When he turned the door, he saw Turgon's daughter, Izar, lying on her bed, looking at a book and humming a song. She was dressed in a translucent silk robe and lay on the quilt. Her blonde hair was draped behind her, and a pair of slender feet swayed behind her, reflecting the silver light projected through the window. Her hips cocked slightly, making Mai Green's heart tremble slightly.
The girl saw Maillin come in and gave him a sweet smile. "You're Romean, aren't you?" she asked in a silver bell-like voice. McGreen nodded. He knew that the girl in front of him was Ishel. Idr slowly rose from the bed, came to Mailin, and took his hand. Mai Green could smell a fragrance on her. Her seductive figure peeked out from under the transparent robes. Ishel pulled him to the bedside. She asked him about his experience, and they kept talking, I don't know how long. Until Salgant, the lord of the Mole and Harp family, suddenly came running.
"Your Highness Romean, we have caught an elf who has been secretly following your mother and son. He also discovered his way to hide and was caught by the guards at the gate. You need to check it out. Salgant said.
Mai Green frowned: "Who is it?"
"It's your father, Eol. Salgant said.
Myglin was taken aback. He had a premonition that his betrayal might have brought bad luck to his father.
