Chapter 7: Original Sin
Chagailian is located on the northeast side of East Bereriand. It is an almost rectangular plain, forty-five leagues long from north to south and thirty-five leagues wide from east to west. It is bordered to the north and east by the Rayleigh Mountains and the Blue Mountains, respectively. The western and southern borders of Shaqarian are the Gaylian and Askar rivers.
The ruler of Shagailian was Caranhill, the fourth of the sons of Fëanor. His army was stationed in the north at Mount Raylier. The hill is the eastern end of the Angban Fence.
In 312, a human race migrated here. They are the Haradin family of the three great families of humanity. Unlike the other two families, they don't have a patriarch and don't want to be loyal to any elves. Kalanhill did not expel these people, but he did not rush to communicate with them either. Because the elves were not familiar with the human race at that time.
They lived peacefully on this land for decades. It's 375 years now, fifty-five years after Princess Arettir of Gondolin arrived in the South Elmos Glade and gave birth to a son to the Sindar elf Eor. It was early in the morning, and on the southwest side of Shagailian, at the corner where the Askar River joins the Galijan, the humans of the Haradin had set up a makeshift camp. The camp is surrounded by a low wall made of timber. The camp was covered with white tents. Several bonfires have been extinguished. Between the tents, a lot of human soldiers in armor were stationed at the camp. They had been through a night of fear, and now they were exhausted, waiting for the soldiers who had come to change shifts.
The camp reverberated with the sound of horses' hooves and the clanging of iron. In a white tent in the center of the camp, Hareth, the leader of the Haradin, was awakened by the cacophony of voices. She got out of bed, naked. She walked over to the mirror and looked at her slightly drooping breasts. She is now thirty-four years old, but she has never thought of finding her partner, and she has never even given her body to any man.
She thought she didn't have time to think about these things. She had no idea what their people had experienced before they came to Beleriand, for she had lived with them in Shagailian since she was born. Over the years of her life, she has slowly learned of the existence of the Great Enemy, and that they will never find peace here unless they fight for it. So she spent her life learning the art of fighting from her brother and father, instead of threading needles and threads like other girls.
Hareth thought back to what had happened a few days ago. They were scattered throughout Shaqarian when they were suddenly attacked at the same time. The attack was on Orc's army under Morgoth's command. To their surprise, Orc was not from the north. Apparently they did not attempt to break through the Angbán siege and head south, but first detoured to the area east of Beleriand, and then returned west from the Blue Mountains Eride Luin.
Attacked, they did not give up their resistance. Although the Haradins did not have a patriarch, it was difficult for them to organize quickly for a while. But Hareth's father, Haldad, immediately stepped forward. He became the temporary patriarch, leading the army to temporarily withstand the Orc's onslaught, and creating an opportunity for the old and weak to retreat. In this way, they fought and retreated, and were forced to this corner between the two rivers. Just seven days earlier, her father had led a team of men who had failed to break out, and his father had given his life for it. Her brother Halda, unable to bear the poisoning of his father's body by the enemy, tried to retrieve his father's body, but he never returned.
Now, Hareth has taken on the task of leading the Haradins. After the death of her father and brother, Oak besieged the place for seven days. They didn't attack, as if they were watching a bunch of cornered bugs crash around without a head.
Hareth smoothed her blonde hair and put on the ring. She wore a green cloth coat and a chain mail, and a brown leather armor on the outside. She fastened a brown leather belt, hung a sword on it, and walked out of the tent. She made her way to the gate of the camp, where the defenders had already changed shifts.
She looked into the distance and suddenly knew something. After seven days of siege, Orc's army had seen enough of the Haradin's feeble struggle. Because now a band of Orcs is coming in the distance. They rode wolves, with huge machetes in their hands, and they came with ferocity. The two soldiers guarding the door took a small step back. Hareth whispered to them, "Prepare for battle!"
The two soldiers nodded and swallowed. Hareth ran to the stable and mounted a horse. She galloped through the camp and shouted, "Prepare for battle! Whether it's the noble elves or the terrible Morgoth! Today, we will defend our freedom! Freedom or death!"
Hearing her words, the defenders in the camp seemed to be encouraged. They drew their swords and shouted Hareth's name, then rushed to the gates of the camp and stood together. Hareth rode up to the group. He looked back at the defenders and found that his army was only a few hundred men left. The old and weak women and children came out of their tents and stood far away in the depths of the camp. They looked nervously at the gate, because if they couldn't hold it, they would all die.
The Orc's army is near. The defenders held wooden shields in front of them, trying to withstand the onslaught. But they were wrong. The impact of the wolf caused them to fly directly out of a dozen feet. Hareth was at the front of the line, her horse knocked down by the wolf, and she fell to the ground a dozen feet later. She immediately stood up.
Half of the defenders were killed by wolves. Some wolves even stopped and began to eat their carcasses. Hareth yelled, "Retreat!"
The defenders abandoned the gate, for the current wooden wall had already been smashed by the wolf-mounted Orc. They pressed up like a net, while the defenders could only retreat. The old and weak women and children who were watching the battle scattered in fear. Some lost their minds and fled to the fighting zone, where they were decapitated by Orc's machete, or cut in two by the waist. Some of the humans who had lost their lower bodies struggled in pain on the ground for several seconds, and were trampled desperately by wolves or their own compatriots until they died.
Those who were able to remain rational began to flee to the riverbank. The river is deep and the current is rapid. If you fall into it, you will definitely die. Some were accidentally squeezed into the Gaylian River by their own people. They screamed, and then they were swallowed up by the water.
Two Orcs rushed up around Hareth. They raised their machetes and slashed at her. She dodged and plunged her sword into one of Oak's chests. Black liquid flowed from the Oak's mouth and fell to the ground. Losing her weapon, she took a few steps back, but was cornered. Another Orc stepped up and knocked Hareth down, stomping his foot on her and raising his machete.
She closed her eyes, intending to accept death. But suddenly, she saw that the Oak who was stepping on her was pierced through the chest by a sword. Hareth got up and saw that it was an elf. Harris heard a trumpet. A troop of cavalry poured in from the gate, and quickly cleared out all the ocs who had broken into the camp.
The elf who takes the lead is the ruler of Calanhill. Hareth came up to Calanhill and bowed to him. Calanhill nodded, "I've been secretly watching you. I was struck by your speech during the combat mobilization. That's why I've come to your aid. I hope that the sons of Fëanor will have your allegiance. He held out his hand to Hareth.
Harris shook her head, "Thank you for the rescue, Lord Caranhill. Hareth gasped, she hadn't recovered from the battle she had just had, "But my people now consider me to be the patriarch. My people would not wish to swear allegiance to any Elven Lord. I will respect their choice. ”
Calanhill spoke. Instead of getting angry, he looked at her with respect: "Then you too will be respected by the sons of Fëanor." ”
"I appreciate your understanding, my lord. Hareth bowed, "We won't be living in your territory anymore. I will lead my people westward. Perhaps, we will go to Estorad and live with the Beo and Maruich families. ”
Calanhill nodded: "I have a better option. At the western end of Doriath, the kingdom of the Sindar elves, there is a forest called Brihil. King Singh insisted that it was his land, but the Noldor agreed that it did not belong to any elven lord. You are free to live there. Now that you're the patriarch, it's no longer appropriate to call you House Haradin. Today you have made me pay homage to humanity, and in the future, among the Noldor elves, your family will be called the Harets. ”
—————————————————————————————————
It was the spring of the second year that Shagailian had that battle. It was night, and Arettir was standing at the door of Eor's stone house. The call of the nightingale echoed in the woodland. It had just rained, and the woodland was filled with the smell of earth. Outside the stone house, Eor built a small training ground. In the training ground, there are training dummies that practice hand-to-hand combat, as well as targets that practice archery. The target is full of small holes, and it looks like someone is training here.
This is what E'ol made for his son. His son was born in 320. At first, Eor was disgusted with the child, as he was preoccupied with forging hard metal and had no interest in raising his young son. So when he was born, Eol didn't even give him a name. Eore only knew that he sometimes heard his wife call her son by the name of Romean. He understood that the name came from the Quenya language, but he didn't care what she called his son.
Before the elves are ten years old, they grow at the fastest rate. That's even the same speed as a human. But after the age of ten, their growth will slow down, and in a hundred years their appearance may only grow to about ten years of human age. As the elve's appearance grows into adulthood, growth will almost cease. For the rest of their lives, their looks will stay at their youngest moment.
By the year 332. Romien was twelve years old that year. When he first sneaked into Eor's arsenal, chose a sword from Eor's many creations, and swung it, Eor noticed some sharp light in his son's eyes. He was so proud of his son that he finally named him, Mai Green.
Since then, he has never allowed Arettir to call his son Romian. Arettir had to call him that when he was alone with his son. Maiglin did not betray his mother's secret to Eor, because although he did not hate his father, he often saw his father violently against his mother. To prevent this violence, he kept silent.
Ever since Eolle named Mai Green, he had spent more time with his son. He built a training ground at the entrance of the stone house, intending to train Maiglin into a formidable Sindar warrior. As a result, both parents have very different high hopes for McGreen.
Sometimes, when Eore traveled to the capital of the Dwarves, he would take Mai Green with him. Myglin followed his father to learn a great deal about mineral deposits and smelting from the dwarves. His father tries to get him to think of himself as a Sindar elf, but he keeps reminding himself that he is a hybrid of the Noldor and Sindar tribes.
At this time, Eor was teaching his son archery skills at the training ground. Arettir leaned against the door and looked at them, his eyes full of relief. Maiglin placed an arrow on the bowstring and pulled the string back. From a human point of view, he looks like he is about fifteen or sixteen years old. There was a little bravery on his childish face. His hand trembling slightly, the bow framing his figure.
Eore stood behind him. "Push harder. He said. As he spoke, he put both hands on McGlin's elbows and helped him pull the bow, then slowly let go of his son, letting his son hold the bowstring his own, "Fire!" he shouted.
Mai Green let go of his hand, and the arrow shot out at a rapid pace, hitting the edge of the target. Eore frowned and shook his head.
A servant came from the woodland: "My lord, something has happened on the south side of the woodland. ”
Eore motioned for him to continue. "Another group of humans came to Estorade, a small town south of the woodland, and wanted to stay there temporarily. They are not the Beo family, nor are they the Marrych family. They call themselves the Harets. I guess you need to see for yourself. Eor nodded and told him to step down.
"Mai Green, you can rest for a while. He said to his son, and went into the woods.
Mai Green watched him leave, then sat down on a wooden bench in a training ground. Arettir walked up and sat down next to him slowly, stroking his straight, black shoulder-length hair. "I'm so proud of you, Romian. McGlin smiled at his mother.
"Mother, tell me the story of the Noldor elves. How they got to Amen, and how they returned to Middle-earth to fight Morgoth. "Maiglin is interested in the history of the Noldor Elves.
Arettir was silent for a moment. She knew that Eol would not allow her to tell her son about these things. But she was confident that her son would keep it a secret for her. So she spoke. She first told Mai Green about the great migration of ancient times. How did the three major tribes of the elves ascend Amen Continent one after another, and how did the Sinda elves give up the westward journey and stay in Middle-earth. Then, she began to tell the story of their arrival on Amen Island.
"The elves who eventually landed on the territory of Amen are made up of all of the Vanya, all of the Noldor, and part of the Telleri. For most of the Telleri remained in Middle-earth, some became the Elves of the Nando, and some were the Sindar, your father's kindred. She said, "Amen is a land of bliss. Its eastern coastline is bordered by the Perorry Range, which stretches from the extreme north to the extreme south of the coastline. In the middle of the mountain range is a high mountain called Taniquitir, on which Manwi, the leader of the Velas, the god of the sky and wind, lives, and his consort, Valda, the Queen of the Stars. Blessed by the Perori Mountains, the plains to the west of it give us a sense of security. You have their own dwelling place on that plain. The plain is called Valinor. There are two giant trees on the plain, Terperian and Laurelin. One of the two trees emitted golden light, and the other emitted silver light. At that time, there was no sun or moon in the world. Middle-earth has always been asleep in the faint light of the stars, while Amen Continent is bathed in the light of the Twin Sacred Trees. The Perori Mountains block the light of the Twin Sacred Trees within the continent of Amen. The brilliance of these two sacred trees is intertwined, and when the light of one tree brightens, the other dims. Therefore, we will alternate the two rays of the sacred tree as one day. At that time, the Vanya preferred to live with the Villas, so they settled on the top of Mount Taniquitil and lived with Manw. At that time, Vera was in the middle of the Perori Mountains, and a rift was carved out at the foot of Mount Taniquetil, and a small hill was erected in the rift valley. At the top of Mount Tuna, we established the holy city of Tirien, the pride of the Noldor people. That's where the Noldor live. The Tellerians live outside the shelter of the Pelori Mountains. They established their own Swan in the area between the east side of Perori and the ocean. Uomu, the god of the sea and water, taught them the art of shipbuilding.
"We have lived peacefully for a long time. It was during that time that my fathers and we were born one after another. Fenway, King of the Noldors, is married to Miriel. They gave birth to their eldest son, Fëanor. It was this man who changed the fate of the Noldor race. Later, the elves of the Finnish family have been very controversial in their evaluation of him. We admire the many heroic deeds he later committed, but at the same time we spurn the many sins he later committed. I'll tell you about that later. In short, the conception of Fëanor depleted Mirel's life force. She then fell into a long sleep. Out of love for his wife, Fenway was also very fond of Fëanor. When Fëanor grew up, Fenway finally came out of the pain of losing his wife. He also married Indis of the Banu Vanya. Fëanor was not happy about his father's remarriage. Therefore, when Indis gave birth to Fëanor's two half-brothers, Finner and Finarfin, Fëanor did not have a good impression of them. Arettir coughed, "Valinor's happiness lasted for centuries until that day. ”
Arettir's brow furrowed: "On that day, on the plains of Valinor, in the Circle of Judgment, a Vera who had been imprisoned for many years for his sins, Mirko was tried after his sentence had expired. According to the other Veras, Mirko was arrested by the Veras for some sin long before we began our migration to Amen. He sincerely repented in the Circle of Judgment, and all Vera believed that he had changed his ways. So Mirko began to live with us. ”
A servant walked over. Arettir immediately stopped talking. The two fell silent for a long time. When the servant had gone away, Arettir spoke again: "At that time, the greatest of Fëanor's many creations was born. That's the Elven Diamond. He loved the light of the Twin Sacred Trees, but the light was fluid, and when the Sacred Tree released its brilliant brilliance, the light passed forever. Therefore, Fëanor wanted to keep a part of the light forever. This is the case with the three Elven Diamonds he forged. They absorb the brilliance of the Twin Sacred Trees and become holy. The Veras sanctified them. If the wicked dare to touch it, the light of the diamond will burn them. Presumably, at that time, Mirko had been coveting the Elven Diamond for a long time. Arettir looked around the woodland and confirmed that Eor had not returned from the woodland, "Mirko began spreading rumors to the Noldor elves that Vera had let the elves migrate to Amen to make it easier for them to rule them. He also brought up prophecies about humanity. He said that there would be a group of children who would wake up somewhere in the world, and that Middle-earth was the land that Vera had left them. Simply because humans have a shorter lifespan, they are more likely to be manipulated by Vera as a slave. At that time, Mirko took advantage of his handsome and righteous incarnation, and most of them, although not fully convinced, began to turn away from the other Vera. The Noldor grew arrogant. Among them, Fëanor is the leader. He began to claim that the Elven Diamond and the light within it belonged to him and not to anyone else, neither the Elves nor Vera. He locked the diamond in his private vault in the city of Tirien. Mirko then began to drive a wedge between Fëanor and his brother. He told Fernor that Finnor and Finarfinn wanted to snatch Fëanor's succession to the throne as the eldest son, but said something else to Finnor and Finarfin, saying that Fëanor looked down on them and would one day drive them out of Tirien. ”
As she spoke, Arritil clenched her fists: "At that time, my father, Finkor, trusted Mirko and went to my grandfather Fenway to restrain Fëanor's pride. But it happened to be bumped into by Fëanor, and the misunderstanding was amplified. Fëanor pointed his sword at his brother in front of many people, threatening him not to usurp the throne. Fen Guoyu did not explain and left angrily. Contradictions gradually piled up. The Veras, unaware of this, thought that Fëanor was the one who stirred up discontent, and took him to the Circle of Judgment. Fëanor did not make any excuses for this. Fëanor and his seven sons were banished from the Tyrien to the northern hills of Valinor. There he built a fortified treasury, Fominos, and settled down. Out of love for his eldest son, Fenway went into self-imposed exile and went there with him. Finn took over Tyrien's reign. In this way, in the dark, Fen Guoxuan really became a usurper in the eyes of Fëanor. ”
Arettir sighed heavily. "But, looking at it this way, Fëanor didn't do anything wrong, did he?" said Maiglin, "and no one makes a mistake in this story. If anything, it's the hypocritical Mirkor. Fëanor is remembered as a sinner by the world just because of this?"
She shook her head, "No." He made even more irreparable mistakes. That's how Mirko disappeared. The Veras sent Tokas, the god of strength and courage, to hunt him down, but could not find him. One day, Mirko suddenly appeared in Fominos. He lied to Fëanor that Vera's plot was succeeding. He advised Fëanor to leave the territory ruled by Vera. Fëanor rejected him. So Mirko said that as long as the Elven Diamond remained in Vera's territory, it would never be safe. It may have been Fëanor's vigilance that made him sense Mirkor's scheming intentions for the Elven Diamond. He scolded Mirko for being Vera's prisoner and drove him out of Phominos. In Fëanor's mind, he already saw the other Vera and Mirko as the ones who were all the way. Arettir squinted at his son, feeling the growing admiration in his eyes for Fëanor, "The day after that, during the harvest season, Manway, the head of the Vera, held a celebration on Mount Taniquetil, where he lived, to ease the relations between the elves of the tribes. Manway invited all the elves, even Fëanor. But his father Fenway did not come, and he stayed in Phominos, as he was still angry about Vera's expulsion of his eldest son. During the celebration, a giant spider-shaped monster suddenly descends from the sky along with Mirkor. All the elves were in fear at that time. The spider monster was Ugoliant, an evil deity who had long been dormant at the southeastern tip of Amen Island. She is eternally hungry and always wants to devour. She made an alliance with Mirkor, attacking the Twin Sacred Trees. Mirko stabbed the tree with his weapon, and Ugolian drained the sap from the tree. That all happened so fast. In an instant, Valinor fell into the eternal night, and the evil ones took advantage of the darkness to go to the north. ”
It could be seen that Maiglin was startled by this sudden turn of events. He stood up and walked up to his mother: "And then what happened to Mother?"
The elves and Vera stood for a long time before they realized what that meant. In addition to his desire for the Elven Diamond, Mirko had other thoughts: he had always held a grudge against the other Veras for their captivity to him. Now his revenge has been accomplished. All the elves and Vera gathered in the Circle of Judgment. Avana, the goddess of vegetation and nature, begged Fëanor to hand over the Elven Diamond, as even the faint remnant of the light of the sacred tree would allow the goddess to heal the two withered sacred trees. At this time, Fëanor remembered Mirkor's intentions for the Elven Diamond. He wondered if these sanctimonious Veras didn't have that kind of mind for the diamond, since they were both Vera and they were of the same origin? Arrytir beckoned to Mailin, who sat down on Arritil's lap, "Soon after, the messenger of Föminos came. He reported that after the light of the Twin Sacred Trees had gone out, Mirko went to the treasury of Fëanor. His father fought with Mirko until the last moment, but was killed by him. This was Valinor's first elf to die unexpectedly. In addition to this, Mirko also stole his Elven Diamond. At that moment, Fëanor's anger was finally aroused. He cursed Mirko loudly and called him Morgoth. It is the great enemy who threatens us at any time now. Morgoth presumably fled to Middle-earth, back to Angban, the fortress he had previously been captured by Vera. There is reason to believe that the Elven Diamond burned his skin at that time, so that he can no longer transform into a handsome image, but always maintain an evil appearance. And the great spider Ugolian must have taken a seclusion somewhere in Beleriand. This place is the valley of horrific death, Nandon Pot, Sebu, which is now full of her heirs. In Amen Island, the desperate crowd dispersed, and everyone lived in the eternal night for a long time. ”
"Mother, until now, I have not been able to see Fëanor as a sinner. He was proud by nature, but he did nothing wrong. Myglin frowned.
Suddenly, Arettir saw Eor returning from the woodland. She immediately shut up and looked at Eol. Eor nodded at him, "What were you guys talking about?"
"It's nothing, I'm asking Mai Green what he's learned from going to the dwarven city with you. Arettir immediately changed the subject, "How's going on the south side of the woodland?" ”
"A new group of humans has arrived in Estoralde. I learned that this is the Hareth clan, who had been living in Shagailian before, and had fled because they had been attacked by a group of Orcs. They won't be living with the other two human families for long. Soon they will be heading east. They wanted to travel to the valley of the terrible death, north of the kingdom of Doriath, to Sibererian, as if intending to settle in the Brehill Forest. They may not succeed, because King Singh has always believed that it should be his land. Eolle said,
—————————————————————————————————
The migration that Eor had secretly heard about from the humans took place three months later. The humans of the Hareth crossed the Chiron River north by way east of South Elmoth. The last time he was interrupted by Eol at the training ground, Arettir hasn't had a chance to continue the story. But when the Harets left Estorad, a dwarven emissary suddenly arrived in South Elmoth. He invited Eor to the dwarven capital, and Eor followed him.
On this midsummer night, the windows of the stone house echo with the boisterous sounds of cicadas and frogs. Arethiel was sitting on the edge of the bed in his bedroom sewing clothes for Mai Green, when Mai Green suddenly burst into the room and sat down next to him: "Mother, tell me what happened next! How did the Noldor return to Middle-earth, and what has happened in the centuries since they returned to Middle-earth. He looked at his mother expectantly, with a dim light in his eyes.
Arettir looked at him lovingly: "When the darkness of Valinor falls, all the people live timidly in that desperate eternal night. After a long time, Fëanor suddenly appeared in the city of Tyrien. His presence indicates that he has begun to openly rebel against Vera, as Vera's expulsion order against him is still in effect. He gave us a speech that I was there when I spoke, and to be honest, it really touched me. He said, 'Why?, O children of the Noldor, why should we continue to serve the jealous Vera, who not only could not protect us, but not even their own kingdom from the great enemy! and, though he was now their enemy, were not the two brothers of the same origin? But I am not the only valiant man among this valiant people, have you not all lost your king, and what have you not lost in this narrow land between the mountains and the sea?
'There used to be the light that Vera had been stingy with to Middle-earth, but now the darkness has made all things equal. Are we to mourn here forever in futility? Are we to be a people in the shadows, haunted by the mist, spilling useless tears into the merciless sea, or are we going to return to our homeland? In Quiveen, sweet water flows under the clear starry sky, and the land around us is boundless, where the people of freedom can walk. Everything is still there waiting for us, and how stupidly we abandoned them. Let the cowards keep the city!' that speech inspired the hearts of all the Noldor to be brave and resolute. But Fëanor did something that would be hard to recover, and he made a vow. His seven sons raised their swords with him, and swore that if anyone dared to possess, seize, or prevent them from possessing the Elven Diamond, whether it be a Vera, a demon, an elf, or a human yet to be born, they would be pursued to the ends of the earth with vengeance and hatred. At that moment, they made everyone but their family their enemies. Their oath was made in the name of the Most High God, Iluvita, so even Vera could not erase it for them. Fëanor urges us to launch an expedition against Morgoth. After a long discussion, the Noldor chose to leave. Because our people are also eager to avenge Fenway. Fëanor and his seven sons all embarked on the journey, and so did the people they ruled, as did my father, Finn and my brothers, and of course all of our people. Finafon joined with his children, but some of his people remained in the city of Tirien. As we were about to leave the gates of Tyrion, Vera sent messengers. He brought with him a message from the Veras, who advised us to abandon the journey, for the Vera would not be of any aid to the expedition. And because of the oath that Fai promised, Amen Continent would be closed to all who left. We will embark on a path from which there is no turning back. Even if we are defeated, none of us will be allowed to return to Amen Island for half a step. Fëanor drove the messenger away, for the fire of vengeance was burning in his heart. It turns out that since then, with the exception of Uomu, the ubiquitous god of water, we have really been abandoned by the Veras. ”
Mai Green interrupted him: "I see, by this time Fëanor has been carried away by anger. ”
"Yes, my son. "Fëanor went on his journey." But there was a sea in front of him. He thought of a way to find the Tellerians who knew the art of shipbuilding. They came to Swan Hong Kong and Macao, and found Orway. But because of his offense to Vera, Orway did not welcome him. So at that time Fëanor committed the worst of the sins of his life, and the most unforgivable. In a fit of rage, he and his people waged war against Swan Harbor. This was the first and only time in the history of the Noldor elves to kill their relatives. Fëanor defeated Orwe's army and killed a large number of Tellerian sailors. My father, Fen Guoxuan's people, arrived later, but seeing that the two sides were already at war, they went straight to Fëanor's side and fought for the troublemakers and the victims. From then on, the Noldor became a people of sin, a people of the unforgivable. Arettir looked at Mai Green, and she began to wonder if she should tell her son such a cruel history.
"That's why my father's kindred, the Sindar elves, are so hostile to the Noldor? Murglin suddenly realized.
Arettir frowned and nodded, "Yes." Fëanor snatched a large number of swan boats from Okolondi and set off north. We traveled partly by land and partly by boat. Amen and Middle-earth are separated by only one strait in the Arctic, and if you cross the sea from there, the distance will be much shorter. Because of this sin, the Villas unleashed their wrath. The god of the sea and water, Uom, rose into a furious storm and swallowed up some of the ships that Fëanor had taken, and some of his people were buried at the bottom of the sea. Upon reaching the northern part of Amen, Mandus, the god of death and judgment, appeared. He has cast a curse on the Noldor that will stay with us for the rest of our lives if we do not turn back: we will always miss victory. All good beginnings end in tragedy. Because of the sins we have committed against our relatives, we will pay with blood. All the Noldor elves who return to Middle-earth will eventually die by the sword or in torment. ”
Mai Green became frightened and swallowed a mouthful of saliva: "So, mother, will you do the same, will you die in the end?" Mai Green did not understand, because when Arettir told it, he did not show the slightest fear of this curse.
So far, the curse has not worked. "Although the war has claimed many lives of the Noldor, the previous wars have ended in our victory. Arettir laughed, "So either Vera forgave us, or Vera just wanted to make us retreat with a made-up curse." In short, the words had little effect. Only Finarfin chose to turn back out of awe of Vera, and took some of his people with him. But even his children did not turn back with him. We suspect that when he returned to the city of Tirien, he should have succeeded him as king there. The other Noldor elves continued north. But at this moment Fëanor suddenly abandoned us, and took all his people and his sons and crossed the sea by boat. He must have thought that because of the storm, there were not enough ships to carry all of us across the strait at once. So he chose betrayal and embarked on the journey with only his own people. Soon after, from this side of the sea, we saw fire shining in the darkness from afar. We suspect that Fëanor burned all the ships on the other side because he did not intend to come back to pick us up. Desperate, we are in a dilemma. At this time, the tall image of Finland stood among us. He boosted our morale, and since we have embarked on this road of no return, we cannot just go back. If we don't pull off a miracle for the Veras to see, we won't be the Noldor elves! The strait in the North Pole called Helkarach has perennial icebergs. Our people put on padded jackets and trudged between the icebergs there, and actually managed to cross the Strait of Helkarach. But we lost a lot of our people along the way, including your uncle Turgon's wife, Elanvia. ”
Arettir stopped abruptly. Maiglin stood up: "Go on, mother!"
Arettir looked at him and laughed, "It's so late, let's go to bed quickly!" she pinched his nose and stroked his hair: "Go!"
Mai Green sighed, then left the room. He went back to his bedroom, took off his heavy little armor, and laid it on the table. His body had already begun to develop, and he seemed to have inherited his father's muscles, both in his muscles and in his intimate parts. He lay down on the bed and covered himself with a quilt and tried to sleep with his eyes closed, but he couldn't. The Noldor experience, and the crimes they committed, replayed in his mind as if they were images, making it difficult for him to fall asleep. There was one more thing he hadn't figured out. Since the spring of this year, he has developed an indescribable throbbing. There were no other women in the woodland other than his mother. In all the years he had lived, he had never seen any other elves of the opposite sex. He fantasized in his mind about what they looked like, and they lay beside him undressed. Whenever this happens, his heart beats faster. Clips often flashed through his mind of what he and his imaginary elves of the opposite sex were doing. He didn't know what that meant. But he never told his father or his mother.

After a night of insomnia, South Elmos ushered in the early hours of the morning. McGreen got out of bed early. He secretly pushed open the door of his mother's room and found her still asleep. So he went outside the stone house. There are some peach trees growing in the woodland, and now is the time for them to bear fruit. It was still early, and most of the servants had not yet woken up, so Maiglin began to climb trees and pick peaches. He climbed from the trunk to the branches, then picked a few peaches and threw them on the ground. He jumped down and landed smoothly, discovering that he had inherited the dexterity of the Sindar elves. Sometimes, however, he was able to give a better opinion than his father on certain matters, which he believed was inherited from his mother. After all, the elves who had seen the light of the Twin Sacred Trees were wiser than the Sinda.
He sat on a wooden stool and nibbled on a peach for a while, but he still didn't see his mother get up. But the servants began to rise one after another. Mai Green then stood up, picked up a wooden sword and began to practice hand-to-hand combat. The wooden sword slashed hard at the training dummy, and the dummy's arms would rotate with the momentum, and the weapons strapped to those arms would turn around to attack Mai Green. McGlin used his wooden sword to block the attack, left and right. It was slowly getting brighter. Although it was the middle of summer, the shade of the woodland did not make it particularly warm.
At that moment, Arity walked out of the room and looked at Maiglin quietly. It was a long time before he found his mother, so he turned and ran to her, leaning his wooden sword against the wall. "Mother, tell me what happened to the Noldor when they came to Middle-earth. And how the world was freed from the eternal night. ”
Mai Green took his mother's hand, pulled her to the wooden bench, and sat down with her.
"Okay, I'll tell you. Arettir smiled, "But I want to start with a war. The Noldor elves were not involved in this war, as it took place before Fëanor returned to Middle-earth. The protagonist of this history is the Sindar elves. Your father told me about it. During the days when the Noldor lived peacefully in the light of the Twin Sacred Trees of Amen, Middle-earth was still bathed in the faint light of the stars. The Taylor elves who remained in Beleriander now call themselves the Sindar elves and have Singar as king. Some of them live on the coast, where there are two port cities, Bulgisambar and Eglarest, where the Sindar elves are also called Falasmen. They had a leader named Chirdan the Shipbuilder. However, they also owe allegiance to King Singar. The kingdom of Singh is in the central part of Beleriand, where there is a huge forest kingdom of Doriath. Thanks to his prestige and the divine power of his wife, Merian, his Sindar kingdom grew from strength to strength. Moreover, Morgoth had not yet fled to Middle-earth at that time, so although the Sindar could only live under the stars, they were also very peaceful. Soon after, the dwarves arrived at Beleriande from the region east of the Blue Mountains, and they struck up a conversation with the Sindar elves. Dwarves learn quickly, so they learn the Sinda language. Although they have their own language, they are reluctant to teach the dwarven language to foreigners. They made a road from the middle of the Blue Mountains called the Dwarf Road. The road runs along the Askar River to the west bank of the Gaylian River. They built a thousand grotto palaces for Singh in the center of his kingdom. He lives there now. In order to repay the dwarves, Singh gave them pearls that some shipbuilders Childan had salvaged from the sea, and Mirian taught them a great deal of knowledge. The dwarves and the Sindar elves have been in contact for a long time. Sometime afterward, the dwarves suddenly spoke to Singar about the evils of the North. They say that although the evil masters are still imprisoned in the West, the lost dogs will also bite. And at that time, there were wolves wandering in the woods. As the dwarves expected, the Orcs who had been lurking in the Angban Fortress for many years began to get restless. They descended south to Beleriand, and tamed the wolves to become their mounts and hunters. ”
Arritil paused, as a servant walked by, but she realized that what she was telling her son was not going to provoke Aeor's anger, as it was about the history of the Sindar. So she boldly continued: "In the great migration of antiquity, there was a group of Tellerians who had given up their migration before they even came to Bereriand. They were called the Nando Elves. Their leader was Denethor. Some of these elves finally entered Beleriander out of curiosity during the growing years of Singar's kingdom. They love trees just as much as the Sinda, even more so. Even though the Sindar sometimes cut down trees for timber, the Nando elves completely despise this behavior. However, this did not affect the friendship between the Sindar and Nando, as they were also from the Tellerian tribe. We sometimes call them Green Elves. They settled in Osiriande, the land of the Seven Rivers. She coughed, "But Beleriand's bliss is coming to an end. Because Morgoth had returned to Angband from the West, it was shortly after Morgoth and the Mother of Giant Spiders, Ugoliant, had poisoned the Twin Sacred Trees. After returning to his fortress, he suddenly launched a war against the Sinda elves before the Noldor elves of Amen Continent launched an expedition against him. He attacked Dorias and the two seaport cities on the coast at the same time. Singh summoned the Nando Elves of Denethor to come to their aid. Together, they repelled the Orc army of East Bereriand, but Denethor gave his life for it. The grief-stricken Green Elves returned to the Land of Seven Rivers and never cared about the war again. The battlefield of East Bereriand was finally won, while the situation of West Bereriand was not optimistic. Although the shipbuilder Chirdan was not overwhelmed, his army was pushed back to the two harbor cities. Orc's army formed a long joint camp outside the city, encircling both cities. King Singh had paid a huge price to win the battlefield in the east, so he had no more strength left to support Chirdan. He fled back to Doriath, where his wife, Merian, used her magic to create a wall of illusions around the kingdom called the Merian Ring. Since then, the kingdom of Singh has lived in isolation for a long time. That battle became known as the First Battle of Beleriand. Arettir paused.
"So, there are more battles to come?" Maiglin asked her.
"Yes," Arettir nodded, "but finally with the Noldor elves. As I told you last night, Fëanor abandoned my father's people and was the first to ascend to the lands of Middle-earth. He landed in Heslum, the land of what is now ruled by the Finnish kingdom. When Fëanor came to Middle-earth, he did burn all the ships as we suspected. For this, his eldest son, Mezlos, also rebuked his father's actions. Because he was good friends with my brother Fengon. They came to a lake in Heslum and called it the Long Lake Misrin. Shortly after they landed, Morgoth learned of their arrival by unknown means, and took the lead in attacking across the Shadow Mountains of Ered Wesling. Thus began the Second Battle of Beleriander, which we named in Sinda,-Nuin-Gillias, or 'Battle Under the Stars'. Because at that time, Middle-earth was still under a starry sky. Fëanor fought a brilliant battle, and the mighty Orc army was crushed in front of his people, because the fire of revenge of Fëanor's people was burning brightly. In addition, Fëanor also drove out all the occs that had surrounded the two harbor cities left behind in the First Battle, and the people of Chirdan were released. After the battle, he pursued the Orc's army all the way north, to the plain of Adegarland, north of what is now the siege of Angban. At that time, he had actually lost his mind, because the fire of revenge was eating away at his body. He rushed ahead alone, and the elven army behind him couldn't catch up with him. He walked alone to Angban's door to challenge Morgoth, but was knocked to the ground by Morgoth's Flame Demon King, Goth Morgoth. His son arrives with his army at a critical moment, and the Firelord flees back to the depths of Angban. His sons carried the unconscious Fëanor on the road back to Lake Misling. Before he could reach his destination, Fëanor ordered him to stop. His eyes were fixed on the Angban Fortress, and he muttered that his sons should keep their vows, and then he would not move. The fire of his vengeance eventually consumed his life, and he did not even have a body left behind after his death. Arettir said, sighing, "I don't know if the sons of Fëanor have embellished this history, but his deeds really make us hate Fëanor and admire him at the same time.
Soon after, the people of Fëanor began to establish communication with the Sinda, who saw them as saviors from the West. Now the leadership of the Fëanor people fell to the eldest son, Mezlos. It was at this time that Morgoth sent a messenger. He said he was willing to sue for peace, but hoped that Mezlos would go to Angban alone to negotiate. He even offered to return a Elven Diamond in exchange. Mezlos did go to the meeting, but Morgoth didn't keep his promise. Mezlos was ambushed and captured back to Angban. His right arm was handcuffed with steel hoops, and Morgoth hung him from the cliffs of Mount Sangolozeim above Angban. Arettir stroked her hair, "After that, my father's people from Fen Guoyu also went to Middle-earth. The moment my father landed on Middle-earth, the moon rose into the sky for the first time. Soon after, the moon disappeared and was replaced by the sun. After that, the sun and the moon began to fall into a cyclical cycle. That was the first year of the chronology we use today. It is rumored among us that it was Vera in Amen who sent this warm light so that we would not be lost in the darkness when we were young and frivolous. We speculate that the sun is a golden flower plucked from the dead golden sacred tree Terperion, and the moon is a silver fruit plucked from the dead silver sacred tree Laurylin. In short, now the rays of the sun and the moon illuminate the whole world without borders. The people of Finn came to the shores of Lake Mislin in the light of daylight. He set up camp on the north shore and lived with the sons of Fëanor. However, the people of Finngol hated Fëanor's betrayal and regarded Fëanor's sons as his accomplices. The two sides came close to clashes, so the minority Fëanor's people moved to the southern shore of the lake. When I was 5 years old, my eldest brother Fingon planned to go to the cliff of Sangolo to save Fëanor's eldest son in order to resolve the conflict between the two sides. And after all, he and Mezlos used to be very good friends. ”
Arettir put her arms around Mai Green, brushed the hair off his forehead, and kissed him on the forehead, "In this way, the people of Fen Guoyu have once again performed a miracle. Fingon had come to Sangolojim, but there was no way to climb the cliff. He prayed to Manway, and although he did not receive Manway's help, he received an answer from the Giant Eagle. Their leader was Sorondo, the king of the eagles. The Eagle King appeared and carried Fingon to Mezloth. The iron hoop in Mezlos' hand was too hard to break. In desperation, Fengon used his sword to cut off Mezlos' handcuffed right hand and managed to save him. Upon his return, Mezlos thanked Fingon, and Fëanor's relationship with Finn's people improved. In order to repay Fingon, Mezlos gave up the title of High King of the Noldor to my father, Finn. As the eldest son of Fëanor, the position was supposed to be inherited by Mezlos. From then on, Singar, the king of the grey elves, began to understand that we were not saviors, but victims like them. He began to reduce his dealings with the Noldor, but allowed Finaffin's children to visit his kingdom, as Finafin's wife was Eyar of the Tylerian tribe and was related to Singar. In 6, Phenofin's son, Angelode, became the first Noldor to enter his realm. He asked Angrod to send a message to the other Noldor elves, who were not allowed to enter Dorias unless invited. He brought a message as promised, and the grumpy Caranhill, the fourth of the seven sons of Fëanor, heard him and verbally insulted Angerrod, because he was unhappy that Angerrod had brought such an impudent message to the foreigners. The conflict almost flares up again. Mezlos realized that it was no longer possible for our two families to live together in harmony. So he led his people to move to East Bereriand. After they left, Finarfin's children did not stay in Heslum, and the eldest son Finrod and the second son Olodris came to the island of Torcirian in the upper reaches of the Western Ryan River and established the garrison of Taminas Tirith. The younger two sons, Angrod and Agnor, moved to the Dosonian Heights, while the youngest sister, Galadriel, lived in King Singar's kingdom of Doriath. Although we were not welcomed, he expressed his sincerity to us in forming an alliance. In the 20th year, Finn held a banquet and invited the elven kings of the whole territory of Beleriander. King Singh sent two of his most trusted advisors, Mabulon and Dailon. Daeron was a poet whose poetic talent was even better than that of Fëanor's second son, Marglore. Arettir stopped suddenly.
This was because she remembered it, and if she continued to talk about it, she was about to mention how her brother had built the hidden city of Gangdorim. She didn't know if she should tell him this. "What's the matter, mother?" said Mygrin suddenly, "and the matter of my uncle's city of Gangdorin. ”
Arityr's pupils narrowed suddenly. She didn't know how he knew, but it could mean that she had divulged Gondolin's secrets, even to her son. "Are you...... How do you know about Gondolin?"
"Once my father went to the dwarven capital, and I heard a sound in your room at night, and I heard outside the door of your room, what are you dreaming about. I could hear the words 'Turgon' and 'Gondolin'. ”
Arettir was stunned by his keen insight. She believed it came from his father. So the helpless Arettir could only tell him the truth, and she secretly hoped that his son would not bring it up at an inopportune time: "Well, you listen to me. Arettir spoke, "At that time, Turgong was still living in the city of Wenyamar by the sea of Heslum. One day in the 50th year, Turgong made an appointment with Finalfin's eldest son, Finrod, to go out hunting. That night, they camped on the banks of the West Ryan River. When I returned, Turgong told me that he had a dream that night. In his dream, Uomu, the god of water, told him that there was a hidden valley somewhere in Beleriand, and told him to find it and build a city based on the city of Tirien. Thus the concept of Gondolin was born. Coincidentally, two years later, Finrod also began to build his own new city. He chose Taras Dilneng in the plain west of Doriath. There he found an underground cavern and began to build Nagoth Lund. There is reason to believe that Uomu also gave Finrod a dream that day, instructing him to build a new city. Finrod was helped by the dwarves during the construction process, and the dwarves also made a necklace for Finrod Nau Gramir. Another year later, Turgun found the valley of Tum*. He began to construct the drawings of Gondolin. "The necklace that Arettir mentioned, we will mention in another story.
Mai Green listened attentively: "Uoumu has not given up on us, even if the other Veras have given up. "Where the water is, where he is." ”
Arettir nodded, "But before Korin could start building, Morgoth started another war. He attacked both the West Ryan Valley and the Margalore Pass to the east. However, his Orc army was defeated by the Finn and Fëanor's people, and all of them were driven back to Angban. Although it was most likely a battle for Morgoth to test his strength, it was a battle that filled the hearts of the Noldor with glory. Hence the name of the battle-Agrarib, 'Battle of Glory'. It was also the third battle of Beleriand. To date, the major battles that have taken place in Beleriand have been these three. After the war, the Noldor finally became alert. They finally understood that the enemy could start a war south at any time, and they needed to be prepared at all times. So the tribesmen of Fëanor, Finn, and Finafin joined forces to intensify their surveillance on the plains of Adegarand. The Angban Siege was established. Morgoth then launched small breakout attacks, but never broke through the siege of Angban. In 64, Turgong began to build the Gondorin. In 67, Angrod visited Dorias again, but was suddenly asked about the history of the genocide of his relatives. When the Noldor had previously told the Sindar about the past of Amen Continent, they often kept silent about the killings of their relatives, but Singh heard some rumors about the killings of their relatives out of nowhere, so he asked about Angelrod. Out of hatred for Fëanor's sons, Angelo told Singar the truth and cursed Fëanor's sons, claiming that they were responsible for the killings. Since that day, the relationship between the Sinda and the Noldor has undergone a subtle change. While the alliance remains, the Sindar elves begin to harbor hatred for the Noldor. He drove out all the Noldor elves in the land, leaving only Finarfin's youngest daughter, Galadriel. Because by that time she had already fallen in love with the gray elf Kellerborn and became a partner. In 102, when Nagoth Lund was built, Finrod moved his people and left the garrison tower to his brother Olodris. In 116, Gondolin was built. Turgong and I started moving to Gondolin. At that time, the emissary of Uomu had asked Turgong to leave a suit of armor and weapons in Wenyama, but he still did not reveal the meaning of all this. After that, our lives were cut off from the outside world. We don't know what's going on in the outside world. It was only in the year 260 that news came that an evil dragon had suddenly crawled out of the gates of Angban. The dragon looked like a giant lizard and had no wings. It's Glaulong. It had not yet grown at that time, and it is said that Fingon only led a team of cavalry and forced it back to Angban with bows and arrows. But that incident still cast a shadow over our hearts, and our fear of war deepened day by day. Because we can't imagine that once the dragon grows up, we will not be able to defeat Morgoth's attack. ”
Arettir then explained how he had left Gondolin and made his way to South Elmos.
In this way, she told her son Mai Green all the history that happened to the elves, without reservation. But she was glad that although her son knew about the existence of Gondolin, at least he had not told the exact location of Maillin Gondolin. And his son didn't seem to have any interest in where Gondorin was.
But Arettir was wrong. Although Mai Green did not say anything, he had long remembered the existence of Gondorin in his heart. He hoped that one day, he would be able to travel to the fabled city of Gangdorin and see the wisdom of the Noldor people.
