Section A: Chapter 25: Conflict (Seresya)

Picking up the other two bottles of mead on the ground, Cereya jerked them at the barrel-like helmets of the two guards.

The mead smashed into one of the visors, while the other bottle was blocked by the steel gauntlets of the other guard. Keeping a certain interval, the two men who raised their shields rushed towards the mad dog one after another.

With a sharp retreat, Seresya dodged two oncoming stabs. Flipping over the couch, Mad Dog stared at the elbow movements of the two.

One of the guards was the first to act, and he sped forward briskly from the right-hand side. The other is left hand behind the sofa.

Leaning back, the sword slashing through his throat. The mad dog slammed straight into his shield and sideways through the human blockade.

Holding on to the enemy rushing towards him, Seresa quickly retreated.

I have no armor and suffer in a frontal battle...... Seresa pondered: However, this can be compensated for by speed.

I'll quickly deplete their stamina, he concludes - in a battle where stamina can't be replenished, avoid all actions that might add stamina. In particular, needless running, which not only consumes a lot of physical strength, but also creates fatal flaws in one's actions.

Wearing armor consumes a lot of extra stamina...... Mad Dog maintains a high speed of movement, luring the enemy into irrational follow-up: if it continues, it will slow them down and eventually become unable to swing their swords.

Dodging a slash on his side again, Ceresya kicked over the table, knocking one of the guards down. Seizing the moment when one of them slowed down, Mad Dog immediately turned and ran to the end of the living room, removing the sword that hung on the wall.

Turning around quickly, parrying a sword from the unblocked guard, Mad Dog slammed a punch into the guard's mask, leaning over to dodge the sword swung in an instinctive counterattack. With the momentum from his dodge, he slammed into his shield, creating a gap in his attacks.

Unable to risk piercing the enemy's chest, Mad Dog chose to leap back to defend himself against another guard charging at him, leaving him with a gap between the enemy's attacks as he drew his blood-stained sword.

Taking a few steps back, Mad Dog pushed into the narrow area next to the cabinet in the corner. Thinking about his way out, he glanced at the vase next to the door on his right.

After one last swing, Seresya quickly distanced the enemy's shield and jumped back to miss the other guard's stab.

Seizing the gap between the swings of his weapon, Mad Dog kicks over the vase and smashes it at the guard. Before the sound of the vase shattering dissipated, Ceresya was out of range of the enemy, putting both enemies in her immediate line of sight.

Looks like the next time something like this happens, I'll really have to keep it by my side...... With a sword in one hand, Seresa stood sideways: though, it looked more tasteful when it hung on the wall.

"Come on, enthusiastic friends!?" Ceresya shook her weapon, "I've warmed up with you, what are you waiting for?"

There was no response, and the two guards just raised their shields and swords, and cautiously moved towards the mad dog.

Ceresya watched their steps, keeping a distance of five paces from them.

After a lot of maneuvering, Mad Dog decided to break the deadlock.

"What's the matter, bastard?" Seresa shouted provocatively, waiting for the uncontrollable guy to show a flaw in the first attack: "Is this the virtue of Governor Carreso's bodyguard?Does he still plan to canonize you as knights?" He smiled bitterly: "Just you two cowards? But judging by your performance against the defenseless people just now, you don't have as much honor in your head as I do in my night pot!"

The provocation worked, and one of the guards, who had lost his breath at first, raised his shield and rushed towards the mad dog.

Square shield with a central protrusion that facilitates impacting and sliding away arrows...... Mad Dog anticipates the trajectory of the shield swing: in such a short charge that is only five paces away, the shield impact often has more advantages than attacking with a sword: smaller flaws and hits.

Ducking away from the shield, and after blocking the arc swing with her sword, Ceresya kicked the guard over. Before he could do so, the sword of the other guard stabbed into his eye socket. Half-crouched to dodge the blow, and in order to avoid a sword from the rising guard, the mad dog rolled on the spot and got back to his feet.

The two of them attacked rapidly, and the mad dog, who couldn't find a flaw in his attack, dodged slower and slower attacks one after another, while constantly adjusting the dodge angle to ensure that he was still circling around the open field and that no enemy was going around behind him.

Finally, the left-hand enemy showed a huge attack flaw. Without missing this opportunity, the advancing sword pierced the throat, and the mad dog quickly drew his weapon, dodging the stabbing blow coming from the right rear.

After taking out an enemy, Mad Dog turned to the physically exhausted other side of the guard and began a swift onslaught, finally piercing the enemy's chest a moment later.

The excitement of the battle had not yet dissipated, and he could not wait to enjoy the rights of the victors after the battle in this euphoria. Sereas crouched down and began to fumble for valuable items on the deceased's body.

The loot is two small bags of money...... He opened his purse and looked at the golden Eurasian gold coins in the candlelight.

He laughed: It seems that Carreso gave them a lot of money to clean themselves up, probably because the empathetic governor knew that he was going to fly away, and he was afraid that my travel expenses would not be enough, so he sent these two men?

Wiping the blade's blood from the corner of her coat, Seresa thrust it back into its scabbard.

You just have to be extra careful when dealing with the guy who wears armor...... Cereya, whose brain had gradually calmed down, sat back on the couch, opened another bottle of mead and drank it down: the wine he had poured after the bloody battle had always made him feel delicious.

After drinking three bottles in a row, the Mad Dog finally counted the number of gold coins one by one: a total of thirty gold coins per bag, a total of sixty gold coins.

Eighteen thousand fars?, Selesa twisted her stiff neck and made a clicking sound: the price was fair.

Pouring both bags of gold coins into the leather bag around her waist, Seresa bit the cork of another bottle of honey and walked into the basement.

Opening the deadbolt of the wooden door, he lit the oil lamp in the room. A man in bandage was lying on the bed, looking still unconscious.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Seresa poured a sip of honey wine and examined the man's back injury: a severe laceration.

I wonder if the home remedies for toads mixed with Nalan grass will work? He thought about the treatment for his lame feet: at least the wound was not infected, probably the bandage was very good, right?

Looking at the man who was still not awake, Seresia wondered why he had to save him: he felt that he had to think about it, because he would definitely ask when he woke up.

However, he could not think of a reason at all, because it was too much mental effort to think about it, so he stopped thinking about it, and concentrated on pouring the honey wine.

Probably I'll wake up tonight, Anusen? He squinted at the man: If I don't wake up tonight, I'm afraid I'll have to throw you here—I'll have to leave this disgusting place anyway.

So, instead of leaving aimlessly, why not go find your missing daughter......

It's too much effort to spend during the day, so it's good to take a little rest...... I'm not fit for the job.

Sighing, Ceresya slowly closed her eyes.
