Chapter 92: Darkness Descends Again

"Erin, do it again!" Gunther yelled at the master soothsayer. Ferris concentrated her mana and summoned another illusion, a tension that made her otherwise pale face cringe from mana fatigue.

The illusory Gunther flew directly underneath Sobel, creating a refractory spell that allowed Gunther to attack the Void Mage with pincers.

Next to them, Walken was exhausted and spent most of his mana on the maze of defeat. Of the three, Gunther was the only one with little effort, carefully managing his mana pool, even though they traded a dozen exchanges in quick succession.

The combatants come together, and their core problem is that neither Ferris nor Walken are battle mages, having earned the title of mage through decades of conflict and war.

Erin Ferris ended up being just a scholar, an intelligence officer turned magician, more interested in occult manufacturing than actual combat. Walken, on the other hand, was better, but he always worked in the shadows and rarely added luster to the fierce conflicts of interest that often occur in the towers.

Scholar.

Statesman.

Paladin.

This is a tattered team made by fate to fight against a 60-year-old Void Witch, a war hero who has survived the Soria invasion, the Coral Sea conflict, and countless other military operations, large and small.

At first, the battle was optimistic. They fought her in the tower, repelling the tide of vampire lampreys. However, when they thought Elizabeth was cornered, she used a ritual spell that started as a dark orb and then rapidly expanded until it became the scene in front of them. At first, they thought the spell was a whirlpool, or at worst, a black hole, but the reality of their new hell soon exceeded their worst expectations.

Fighting in the harmful light of the void sun is a tiring effort in itself. Even though the trio could use their shields to prevent the loss of their life force, they still felt the mana around them drain, making the fight too lethargic.

Gunther wasn't optimistic about their chances. If he's being honest with himself, Elizabeth Sobel is kicking their ass. For some reason, this woman seems to have an inexhaustible amount of vitality and mana.

Where Gunther, Ferris, and Walken plan and preserve their mana, his master's estranged wife continues to wreak havoc on the high calamities one after the other.

From Gwen's training, Gunther knew that fledgling Void Mages would only work for a few low-level spells at best, and only for one or two more advanced spells at best. However, Elizabeth seems to be completely unaffected by the physical pressures of the Void magic.

The dark sun was clearly to blame for Elizabeth's exuberance. Earlier, Gunther fired a beam of sunlight into the empty entrance, but received no indication that his attack had affected the orb. As the saying goes, it has disappeared into nothingness.

All they can do is tease Elizabeth and wait to see if she will expose a weakness for them to take advantage of.

For this, Gunther was glad that Erin Ferris was on their side.

The mage is not a battle mage, but she is a skilled magician. There is an overabundance of mirrored images, mystical visuals, projected images, and simulations. Together, they harass Elizabeth without being attacked by her.

However, the Void Witch grew impatient, and her spells became more and more strange and unrestrained. Collateral damage from misfired spells and dodged attacks has destroyed part of the tower's exterior walls, dropping deadly hail of stones on the city below.

The rest of the tower mages have dispersed, finding shelter or escaping while they still can. If Gunther and the other two judges could not suppress Elizabeth, the city would have been confiscated, and they would have been nothing more than food for the insatiable hunger and thirst of the Vampire Rituals of Sobel.

"Chain Bolt!" A jagged bolt of dark lightning streaked across the sky, striking mirror image after mirror.

The third ricocheting captured Gunther's clone, turning the mirage into a vague, azure particle of magic unique to the Illusionists. Despite their best efforts, the summoning of the 6th layer caught them off guard, and its deadly effects unfolded in an instant.

"Light Curtain!"

Gunther's shield seemed too late to help Walken, who was caught alone after the death of his illusory stand-in.

"Empty ball!"

A cloud of void energy bloomed around the mage, devouring his protection in the blink of an eye. Of all the major elements, air is by far the weakest layer of protection.

Usually, Walken fights behind the impressive Kouyat Ella (Cougar), who is familiar to his magicians, a winged serpent that rivals many mages. Unfortunately, the hapless magician, with his rare lightning-fast attack, fell victim early in their battle with Sobel. Walken gasped and repelled the hostile magic, but it was clear that the scheming mage had been badly wounded.

Gunther withdrew the light curtain. His guilty plea did not help the judge.

"Ferris!"

"Up there!" a simulacrum detached from Ferris and infiltrated the fallen magician. Just like Wake , she's also approaching her limits.

"Fiore, when did the damn tower come here?" Gunther sent a message spell to Walken's second, who chose to stay in the tower and take care of the communications.

A tired female voice replied, "The Void Sun's mana drain is wreaking havoc on our instruments, but I have to say in the next hour. ”。

"Kelly, how's the evacuation going?"

"It doesn't look good, sir, since we lost the LRM company earlier, most of the pseudonymous civilians are still on the ground. ”

"! What are the enforcers doing? What about the Civil Defense Mage?"

"I'm afraid they're busy. ”

"With what, there is no invasion of the CBD area!"

"Because of the riot, sir. ”

"What?"

Gunther made a spiraling turn, avoiding the hail screaming from his mirror image into the city below.

"Name, sir. They carried out riots and robberies in the Great Western Region. ”

Gunther cursed under his breath. Now is not the time to be vulnerable. Although his master seems to be sympathetic to the wildlings, their actions often make him wonder if they are the same species. Riot in the midst of the crisis of invasion, loot for profit while a feeble sun grows bigger and bigger above their heads?

"Kill the bosses, lead by example, and get the others into the shelter as soon as possible. If the dark sun spreads beyond the city, they will all turn into dust of nothingness. I will take full responsibility. ”

"Yes, sir. I'll pass on the news. ”

As his mana increased, Gunther performed a death turn, watching Elizabeth fly past him in a blank daze.

"The Void Witch has to be very confident," Gunther said. She lacked borrowed stones, wands, magic armor, and consumables - Sobel wore only a white chiffon dress, and her broken state indicated that she was mortal. In fact, when the trio burned the potion and scroll, the Void Witch was not taxed. After dodging another spell, Gunther has a distinct feeling that Elizabeth is a cat playing with three blind mice.

"Dawn!"

A ball of light suddenly appears in front of Elizabeth's flight path. The Void Mage immediately raised her shield, but this time it was Gunther who grabbed her flat foot. He watched intently as the radiant heat burned her milky skin, causing blisters from her flawless complexion.

The smell of burnt meat filled the air.

As Gunther slowed down and prepared for the follow-up strike, Elizabeth spun in mid-air and countered his aerial ambush.

Her juggling modern sword screamed in the air, too fast for Gunther's eyes to keep up. By the time he erected his non-Newtonian shield, it was already inches away from his torso.

"Teleport!"

Even with Gunther's proficiency, he was too late.

The sword found his body when the spell manifested.

When Gunther reappeared in the distance, he could feel that something was wrong with a part of his muscle. A full six inches of his skin, tissue, and everything was eaten.

Before he could feel the pain, Gunther injected him with a therapeutic syringe that pierced his wound. Immediately after that, itchy new flesh grew, but the emptiness had taken its toll.

His astral body had been injured - even if Gunther's body healed, it would take months of psychic penetration for his physical body to regain consciousness and sensation.

So the paladin in Sydney backed away, cursing himself for underestimating the Void Mage's resilience. His only consolation, however, is that they have exchanged a major blow.

Until Elizabeth reappeared from the tumbling tumble, her ivory face was without any blemish.

Gunther cursed, the impossible outcome caught him off guard. He saw her face burn red! How could this be?

The moment when the paladin hesitated turned out to be almost fatal.

Just as Gunther struggled from the physical shock and mental numbness of surprise as she recovered, Elizabeth began her performance.

The modern man's blade snapped back from behind her, jokingly, and then cut a bee line across Gunther's chest.

Gunther had no doubt that Blade would be distracted and that the woman would have a follow-up waiting for him. However, it will take a few more seconds for his revenge, as the lost physical rejuvenation has paralyzed his body.

Gunther thought his last thought was his master.

To his surprise, Alexia's face appeared.

A burning, radiant Alesia, who is pure plasma, is an illusion of the elemental Jane with the power of fire. A moment passed, and his vision was filled with the trail of a blazing Valkyrie burning firefly, and coal burning in his eyes.

"Do you miss me, Tiger?"

Her voice is the sweetest in the world. Gunther was amazed that his final eyesight was even able to speak. Maybe, just maybe, he had more craftsmanship with his sister than he could have imagined.

"Alesia," he admitted, the dazzling sight, so bright that a sensual silhouette burned on his retina. "I'm sorryβ€”

Then the fire monster was gone. It took the Witch of the Void, leaving behind a cloud of black blood and burning air.

Gunther's mind snapped back to reality.

It wasn't a hallucination! His mind screamed at him. That's Alexia's flesh!

"Alesia!" his voice resounded with the retreating humanoid, and now he fled from him like a meteor. "Beware! she's eating the black sun!"

The supernatural self-confidence of the Kim family suits Alicia well.

She didn't feel the need to think about something as trivial as strategy.

After all, she is the embodiment of fire, a spirit manifested in the physical realm, a goddess of fire.

What is the illusion in the face of absolute power? What is trickery and subterfuge in the face of unquestionable force?

As Alicia flew towards the tower, an aura of plasma and fire coalesced around her. A ring of overheated hair blew through her passageway, and the barrier of sound was broken by her supersonic flight.

The tower quickly grew larger

She could now see the spots in the distance fighting.

Soon, the specks turned into individuals, one white, one radiant, and two inconspicuous.

The white one is Elizabeth, and the commoner one is Walken. The glorious one is Gunther, meaning that the last speck of dust is Ferris.

Alyssabeth Watson has already set her priorities.

She saw Gunther spin a spiral screw, retaliating against him as he circled, grabbing Elizabeth as she dodged.

She saw Elizabeth take revenge.

She saw Gunther wounded by a dark void.

A new rage erupted in Alexia's chest. The tail of the scorching flame behind her turned from white hot to dazzling.

"Do you miss me, Tiger?" Alexia uttered a joyous message spell just before impact. It seemed like it had been a lifetime before she had seen Gunther, and her heart pounded when she knew Gunther was still alive.

But kisses and hugs must wait. Before they can lick each other's wounds and find empathy from their shared grief, there is an evil thing to end.

Wow!

Alicia made sure that her hard flame shield slammed Elizabeth with superhuman strength. The impact would have been so great if it weren't for Alexia's elemental form, where both combatants would have turned into a mixed minced meat, forming a human Risol.

There was a satisfying crunch as she struck the Void Witch, feeling the impact on her body echoing through the fragile body of the little woman. To the surprise of the Scarlet Witch, the Void Mage did not simply disappear, nor was she cut in half by Alessia's attack power.

Alicia's fighting instincts strongly demanded that she go on the offensive.

With one hand, she spewed a stream of blue-white flames in the opposite direction, cutting off her inertia entirely. The vertiginous movement was enough to drive the outstretched body away from Elizabeth, whose silhouette exploded into a mass of black worms that emerged from the void.

"Burning hands!"

The air ignitedβ€”and the disgusting creatures ceased to exist.

"Be careful! there's a..."

Gunther's warning came too late. His flight time was many degrees slower than the acceleration boosted by the Alesia rocket. Sobel's magically black blade emerged from the burning crowd and sliced through the air with an evil scream, aimed at Alexia's heart.

Before she could react, Alesia swung her arms downwards and instinctively opened her palms to catch the incoming cannonballs.

When!

To everyone's surprise, Wopal's blade didn't take Alexia's forearm off as Sobel expected. Instead, Alicia's plasma elemental body grabbed the flat edge an inch from her torso, enclosed between her palms.

Alicia's scalp is crawling.

Who would grab the blade of a modern man with their bare hands?! Her rational thinking is challenged by surreal circumstances. Besides, after catching a dancing Wopal knife, what the fuck should I do next?

Alicia intuitively knows what to do.

White-hot flames erupted from her palms until blue-green flames erupted in the air. The black sword's mana hissed, then exploded into black balls of ink that rained down on the city below.

"Whoever explains this phenomenon, there's a Ph.D. out there," Gunther said coldly, finally coming to his companion.

"Is that fucking bitch gone?" Alexia looked around, confused. "That's a mock-up thing! What about her real body?"

"Yes, it's a dangerous self-destruction," Gunther said unhappily what did I tell you, Ellie?"

Alicia cast a telling glance at Gunther, two glowing cores rolling in the molten sockets of her face. Gunther coughed and looked away.

"Thank you for saving my life," the paladin said calmly I'm sorry for our master, no matter what happened, I believe you did your best. ”

"Well, that's not enough. Alicia's voice lost the vitality she had just had.

She sighed, looked up, and looked at the black sun that hung mercilessly in the blue sky, an immobile eclipse casting a fatal blessing on everything it observed.

"How can we kill it?" asked Alessia.

Gunther was very keen that he would answer her question.

"Well, Walken says her emptiness is weak for Lightning. Walken also said towers in Melbourne and Brisbane were coming soon.

Alicia shook her head and let out a swarm of fireflies.

"They don't have a mage-level person. ”

"I know," Gunther affirmed.

"Gunther!" a message spell bloomed in Gunther's ears. It's Erin Ferris. "I don't know what you did, but suddenly something came out of the black sun!"

Gunther relayed the news to Alexia, her fiery eyes filled with smoke.

"Gunther!" Erin's voice was urgent.

"We'll be back now. ”

The two went up and Alexia took the lead. From a distance, the two of them seemed to be two meteors moving in the dim sky. A little closer, they could see that Ferris was right in his fears. The sun of the void is changing, taking on a more malevolent tone. The shadow it brings is getting stronger, hungrier, stronger. The stinging cold felt when it touched the skin was now an icy bite mark that penetrated into the bones.

"It's nice to see you again, Alessia," Ferris muttered as Alessia pulled over the car, and Ferris said we needed all the help we could. ”

Walken was injured and wandered far away, trying to make himself scarce. Unfortunately, Alexia's flaming orb could not escape.

"Alesia, not right now. Gunther wanted to put his hand on her shoulder, but he feared that if his sister's emotions replaced her sanity, he would lose his limbs.

A dangerous crossroads hung in the air, the silence only punctuated by the magic of the dark sun.

As they spoke, the dark sun emitted bursts of fading energy. Dark tendrils, clear and indistinct, appear like curious tongues, tasting prey in the air.

"Don't let them touch you!" Gunther reminded the others, recalling the painful hallucinations that Mark Chandler had done at the expense of his sister's soul.

There's no need to tell anyone else.

As the curly tendrils stretch out, seemingly ignoring the limitations of space, the trio is forced to dodge and weave, alternating between appendages that shade and abandon shadow.

For the first time, Gonser noticed that Alexia's flames were no longer flickering in the air. Instead, the heat of her shield flame was flowing in one direction, nourishing the heart of the sun.

Walken had been paying special attention to Alicia, and he was also aware of what was happening.

"It pierced our shield!" he texted the others. "In this situation, we won't be able to last long. ”

"How are we going to regroup?" Ferris asked carefully, though the question could also be rhetorical. If they flee from the sun now, the sun will only get stronger. If they can't control it now, somehow, how can they defeat it when it's ripe?

"Idea?" the collected mage and maggots communicate while maintaining their tentacles and tendrils. Each appendage seems to have its own life, hunting and feeling the nourishment of the air. Gunther had no doubt that if they left, the tendrils would properly hunt down the little mage below.

When none of them spoke, Ferris made a suggestion.

"How about we wait for the other towers. When Uther and Lin get here, we can try a parallel eight-sided mandala to disperse. I, Alesia, Walken, Gunther, and two new judges. We can use their tower mages against two other places. Of course, they will also bring their paladins. ”

Walken chimed in.

"No way, we can't tune the magic unless the tendrils attack us. Look at that thing, do you think the other two will have their tower mage as fodder, and we need time to communicate and adjust our mana?"

"Not to mentionβ€”

Walken narrowly escaped a grasping tentacle. His flight dexterity was seriously impaired earlier. The mage's body was in dire need of greater repair, but there were no healers strong enough to appear in such a large-scale battle. A mid-level priest will only be the target of opportunity, satisfying Elizabeth's thirst for mana and vitality.

β€œ...... The tower has been falling not so long ago. ”

"Well, do you have a better idea?" Ferris asked sharply.

"Fuck it," Alexia suddenly announced Gunther, cover me. ”

Before Gonser could reply, Alesia flew upwards like a falling star, under the influence of gravity.

Three layers of mandalas formed beneath her feet, and she passed through the tendrils that stood in her way to the dead center of the hovering sun, just beyond its netherworld.

A swarm of tendrils moved to usurp her elemental energy, blocked by the waves of light that shot from below, slicing and slicing through invading objects.

"Light Curtain!"

A double glazing temporarily blocked the antennae.

"Ellie," he began, but before he could speak, the worrying words in his throat were hoarse. The Battle of Sydney was both hers and his. Even if they swapped places, Gunther knew he would ignore Alexia, sticking to what he thought was necessary and right.

They are in many ways a raccoon dog, they are followers of Henry Kilroy, inheriting the gifts of their master, not to mention his sins. If Elizabeth exists today because of the weakness of their masters, then for the sake of the masters who brought them life, his students put an end to the work of their masters' lives. For better or worse, this chapter must end.

"I'll cover you," Gunther said the ball of light!

A brilliant light unfolded around the two mages. As a defense, the light from the radiating quasi-elemental plane consumes all the dark creatures, dispelling everything that originates in the negative plane. Gunther used the spell as a trump card, trying at the last moment to undo Elizabeth's fatal blow - alas, now, if it meant sheltering Alesia, he was not at all disturbed.

The flames that enveloped Alexia grew more and more concentrated, losing the chaotic nature of the fire so beloved, and instead weaving itself into her body. Alicia is already an impressive summoner, but the spell she's trying is even higher. As with all magic, going beyond your limits can have dire consequences. At best, prayer will wreak havoc on her astral body and destroy her mana pipeline, or at worst, she may be severely weakened by burning mana. No mage wants to make such a choice, but now is a special moment, and all Gunther can do is be the protector of his dearest ones.

In a few moments, Deggin's borrowed mana poured out of Alexia's body, infusing the spell that appeared above with energy. Her crimson Karaka blends into the manifestation, expanding its essence to protect its owner from the negative feedback of excessive psychic sorcery. While the Carla spirit is not as intelligent as Sofina, it instinctively prioritizes the life of its master over the continued existence of the ego.

There was a heavy air in the air, a terrible sense of oppression. When the entrance into the plane of the fire element produces a huge fireball with a circumference of more than ten meters, the ambient temperature of the air rises sharply. Spraying flames, Alexia pointed a finger at the sky, then quickly and violently moved her finger to the lowest point.

"Meteor Impact!"

A large amount of plasma began to move.

It moved clumsily at first, but as it picked up, a long orange-red tail of flame began to grow, casting an orange mist in the dark depths of the Void Sun, turning its translucent tendrils orange and yellow.

Except for the dark sun, Gunther grabbed an exhausted Alexia, ignoring her burning torso, and pulled her out of the path of her Ao Company spell.

"Teleport!"

With the crimson Caracal consumed by Alexia's spell, Gunther no longer believes that Alexia's magic can distinguish friend from foe.

As the two of them faded away in a swirl of mercury mana, the forces of the void and fire collided.

For the observer below, seeing two celestial bodies marvel and scream in a battle to the death is like a reverse eclipse.

Above them, a dark sun was illuminated by the meteors of the primordial elements.

To the surprise of observers, there were no piercing explosions, and no blast rings sending shock waves underneath that caused problems for the already shattered city. There is not even the sound of two objects meeting in a violent dissonance.

There was only hissing

When the dark sun began to devour the meteors, there was a terrible, indescribable hiss. The encounter between two energy celestial bodies is an ominous sight that will haunt researchers for years. What happens when a strategic ritual designed to attract a large number of vampires meets an unstoppable force, under what equivalence conditions does consumption win, when do they negate each other, and to what extent does mana spoil the ritual's mandala?

Unfortunately for Alesia and her exhausted, exhausted companions, the answer did not work in their favor.

Even a meteor, one level below the city-destroying meteor swarm, is a strategic spell that can only be used in a mutually affirming clash of destruction, and cannot destroy the dark sun.

As Alicia grew weaker and weaker, sensing the power of her meteor waning, they could once again see that the Black Sun was recovering its depleted energy.

Even if more than half of the sun's initial mass is dissolved, there will still be a large number of mages and savages, flora and fauna below to satisfy its hunger.

When the mass of the meteor finally dissipates, they can see the silhouette of a woman in the dark, shrouded in hollow tendrils.

Elizabeth must have been laughing at them, laughing at their last attempt.

Then, she disappeared from sight, and the tendrils once again emerged from the heart of the withered celestial body.

Alesia's companions were scattered as before, only now weaker and more weary.

"Gunther!"

Alessia's panicked cries awakened her brother in her craft from a desperate of inevitable defeat.

A tendril found the scarlet witch.

This realization surprised Gunther as much as any of them. Alicia is the most agile and combat-ready person, and she must be exhausted to catch her.

To their relief, Gunther still had enough mana to sever the Void's tentacles with a single ray of light.

However, the problems of Alicia have only just begun. The witch's burning body suddenly turned into a chaotic flame that appeared and disappeared in her body.

Gunther immediately realized that the source of Everriti's transformation was Jain. Now that Alicia has lost her mana, exhausted, and physically wounded by her overly ambitious spell of mass destruction, it is maliciously trying to kill its master!

As Gunther approached, he dodged a few tendrils-like emptiness of jellyfish himself, and Alexia became obsessed with another.

Gunther swore in a low voice that his mana was almost inexhaustible. They had been fighting for half an hour, casting spells one after another, and soon they would all lose their mana and be helpless.

"Searing brilliance!" Another explosion freed Alicia from the impending crisis.

Gunther grabbed his co-worker in mid-air and swooped down for cover from the collapsed tower. A burning pain burned in his arms, hands, and chest. His nostrils filled his nostrils with the smell of roasted meat.

Fuck Jayne!Gunther swears. If Gunther hadn't been pointed at the flames himself, that attack would have knocked him down, giving him an unexpected fatal blow.

"Damn!" Gunther swore . "Ellie, wait!"

Although the distraction only lasted for a second, it was enough.

First, one tendril, then two, then a dozen, quickly entwined the whereabouts of Gunther and Alesia, exacerbating Gonser's crisis in the face of the rebellious Jean.

Gunther wasn't one to admit despair easily, but now he felt it clearly. If both he and Alexia were gone, who would inherit Henry's legacy? Will his master always be remembered as the husband of that crazy woman? All his men, the names of those who are waiting for redemption below? Who will save them now?

A message alarm sounded next to Gunther's head.

Gunther replied incredulously.

"Gwen?"

The rumbling thunder echoed in the cloudless sky, getting louder and louder as it went.

Their little sister is here.
