Section E, Chapter 15: Notes (Deerno)

After the soldier swung down an unknown number of hammers, the door of the dungeon finally heard a creaky crack. Impatiently snatching the sledgehammer, Edus roared loudly and smashed the door panel completely. Deenor couldn't wait to make up for the captain's kick, and finally caused the door panel to collapse.

"Damn, it's the same trick to seal Lao Tzu that time!" Eders threw down his hammer and ordered loudly, staring at the ice debris pressed under the door panel, "All armed! Most of the corruptors down there are still alive and threatening!"

Just waiting for the captain's words, all the staff immediately pulled out their swords and shields and waited for the battle. Looking at the dungeon lit by fire, Derno felt as if the heavy air around him was being still—and everyone's faces could see unease and nervousness.

The jailer had rushed to the lord's chamber to report that the spy had become a formidable corruptor when the sentry had just arrived to see him...... Looking at the jailer who was hiding at the back of the line, trembling with fear, Deerno felt a suspicion: Something was wrong? According to the jailer, he should have fled with the sentry to the exit, but he had time to escape, but Vicor was locked inside before he could leave. But the gate was obviously closed before it was frozen, so could it be that the jailer closed the door and wanted to harm him?!

But that doesn't make sense...... Turning around, Deerno drew his sword and untied the shield behind his back: the jailer didn't even know Vikol, and there was no reason to harm him. It's definitely thinking too much.

At the moment when he was stunned, the captain standing beside him gave the order to assault and rushed down the dungeon first. It wasn't until one of the soldiers bumped into him that Deerno reacted and hurriedly looked around: the hallway was empty, even the jailer was already ahead of him.

Quickly following the team to the dungeon, Derno, who had not seen the way, suddenly tripped over the threshold, and hit his head heavily on the ground, making a loud "thud" sound. Staggering to his feet, the adjutant clutched his head with a sad face: it seemed to be badly swollen.

It's so embarrassing to be able to trip over the threshold...... Looking at the team running to the depths of the dungeon, Deenor was suddenly a little glad that no one had seen his embarrassment. Feeling extremely deflated, he sullenly slapped the dust on his ass and gripped the handle of his shield: Maybe I'm really not fit to be a soldier. Clumsy and useless in battle, it will only add to the disadvantage.

I was really dazed to join the army...... This made him more and more depressed, and the adjutant sighed sullenly: if he hadn't missed Eternal Winter City too much, he should have listened to other people's advice to stay in the academy and study. Even studying his most troublesome alchemy is better than being a guard that requires physical strength and courage.

Deerno had always had a low self-esteem because of his height, though no one ever laughed at him for it - only 1.75 meters tall was too low for a snow man. Perhaps it was for this reason that he wanted to exercise his physique and manhood to enlist in the army? his head was still a little dizzy from the impact, and the more he thought about it, the more desolate Deerno became: in fact, the experience of being a guard in the past few years had not changed the above two points in the slightest.

But now the work is much better...... Stepping through the door, the lieutenant reached for the fallen sword: following Captain Eddes would do a lot of paperwork like sorting out papers and making suggestions. This kind of work that requires intellectual games and brains makes him extremely excited, but at the same time he is vaguely frustrated: the original task of the Prague adjutant was to lead the deputy team in battle and take command. Whether it was due to a lack of manpower or a knowledge that Deerno was not good at it, the captain did not mention the need to rebuild the detachment.

Just as he picked up the sword again, Deerno's eyes were drawn to something. Noticing that something seemed to be caught near the dark crack in the door, he turned around and reached for it.

After a moment of fumbling, a soft and light touch came from between my fingers. Pulling out the stuffed object, Derno brought it closer to his eyes and immediately recognized its origin: it was the note that the Lord of Metz had given to Vicor.

How could this thing be here?, staring at the note in his hand, Deerno scratched his head in doubt: this important thing, the sentinel should keep it on his body. According to the jailer's account, he didn't even have time to ask Vicol to show the sentry insignia before the enemy burst out of the cell door and attacked. In this way, the jailer must not have known about the existence of the note......

This kind of hidden backlight position was definitely stuffed into it by him...... Crouching down, Deleno scrutinized the crack in the lower door: it couldn't have been stuffed in when he first entered, it didn't make sense. In all likelihood, he was chased here by the Corruptor and did so when the door was frozen and he couldn't escape.

He seemed to be still here fighting the enemy for a moment, and then jumped off here...... Looking at the black and yellow pus and black ice fragments scattered scattered on the stairs, the adjutant felt more and more strange, and couldn't help but fall into thought again. After being in a daze for a while, the captain's angry scream suddenly poured into his left ear, startling him: "Deernor! What are you doing here?!"

"Ahh Seeing the captain's serious expression under the torch, he was a little flustered for some reason. Subconsciously put away the note, and Deerno hurriedly lied: "I tripped and fell, and I was just a little dizzy." I didn't slow down just now. ”

"Clumsy, what are you going to do if you really want to go to battle?" glaring at him, Eders inserted his long sword back into his waist: "Don't stand stupidly next time you fall behind, hurry up and keep up with the team! You are the adjutant of the capital garrison, make sure to stay by my side at all times." Did you hear that!?"

"Understood, understood. Nodding hastily in agreement, Deerno ran down the stairs in three steps and two steps, nearly tripping again. Seeing that the captain's face was extremely ugly, he immediately got up and nervously threw up the dust: "That...... I'm sorry. The steps are so slippery, that's why- I didn't mean to, Captain!"

"Nonsense! How could anyone fall on purpose?" Frowning, Eders looked into the depths of the dungeon with a sad face. Feeling a shudder in his heart, Deenor followed his gaze: the guards were all gathered with the same sad expressions as the captain. Surrounded by them was an ugly corpse with no clothing, covered in abscesses and burns, and Vicol, lying in a pool of blood and impaled through the chest with a machete. The traces of the battle and several deep scar marks were striking across the ground: everything was enough to tell the terrible strength of the enemy.

"The corpses of the enemy were violently burned. Edus's tone was low: "It seems that he heroically killed the Corruptor before he died. Judging by the color of the blood, we can save him if we come in ten minutes earlier. It's a pity ......"

"Captain!" Before Eders could finish speaking, a soldier crouching beside Cowell exclaimed in surprise, "He's not dead yet!
