Chapter Eighty-Four: Broken Links (Part II)
"No, your path is destruction," Henry retorted bitterly, his voice desperate, but growing stronger, his old skin softened and energized. Next to him, Sofina had transformed into her bulky waddling body, a mass of cruel tendrils that tasted the air, making Elizabeth hungry and threatening Elizabeth. "What about after Sydney? Where can you go?"
"A place you can't even begin to understand. Elizabeth smiled secretly, I would be happier if you chose to join, Henry. Abandon your tower. Give up these useless names and your meow, bleeding heart mage. What do you say?"
"You know that's impossible. "Henry began to understand Elizabeth's suggestion, and at the thought of it, he was simply crazy Licui, you are crazy!"
Elizabeth retorted: "It seems to me that you and people like you are crazy and naïve. "How long do you think you can hold back the tide? History waits for no one, even the mighty Henry Kilroy. ”
Henry's breathing slowed.
It was then that he noticed that his message spell was neither issued nor new spells coming in. The telematics system is broken, which can only mean one thing.
"What did you do?!" Henry glared at his wife.
"Your ally, Mr. Walken, is helping us. Elizabeth laughed mockingly and said that when you went out, he helped you complete a small housing project. ”
"Licui!" Henry felt his anger rise with the bile in his throat. She was right to follow him, and it didn't matter if she wanted to be satisfied, but only from him!Tower, city, all those innocent people!Elizabeth wouldn't stop anything! He knew now—Mark had said the same thing. He was so disappointed that he didn't even have a single thing left with the woman he loved. For a long time, Henry had assumed that his wife was just afraid, paranoid, and unable to control her desires, but this was living evidence that she had something more important in her heart. What Henry thought of as self-preservation was only a precursor to something more malign.
"Modern blades. "Elizabeth's prayers came much faster than he recalled, which is a testament to how many innocent people she ate. Outside of her, an obsidian-like cavitous mass formed in midair, hovering like a cold sentinel.
"The power of nature!"
With a magnificent gesture by Henry, Sofina turned into a tidal wave of tendrils that covered the floor and walls of the enclosed space of the small temple.
"Firestorm!" heard the sound of a manifestation spell from outside the temple in the distance.
Damn it!
Orange flames rushed into the shrine's intimate space, turning the door into burning shards.
"Master, are you alright?"
Alexia's fiery red body appeared right outside, both hands glowing with marigold-like mana flowing out of the plane of fire.
"So that's it, husband?" asked Elizabeth scathingly, as if she were in the midst of a family feud. "You're going to collude with another woman?"
This was the first time Alicia had met Elizabeth, and she had only heard about it from stories.
"Ellie. Focus!" Henry shouted that she was dangerous!
"How dare you hurt your master!" Alexia recovered in the blink of an eye. "I'm going to turn you to ashes, you ungrateful bitch!"
Elizabeth's face was full of disgust.
"Henry, is this the kind of person you're dating right now?"
Henry no longer responds to Elizabeth's ridicule. He felt a spell welling up in his apprentice's heart, so he matched Alexia's rhythm so they could sandwich Elizabeth between the two and deal her a double blow.
"Sofina!"
"Disintegrate!"
"Umla eggs!"
A hundred tendrils lunged at Elizabeth, a void shield surrounding her. Similarly, the red beam of destructive energy emitted from Alesia was consumed by the black substance, but did not penetrate an inch of its indeterminate thickness.
Underneath Elizabeth, a cloud of leech-like bugs fell from her dark orb and swooped down on Henry and Alessia, their lampreys opening their mouths and spitting out claw-like tongues.
"I don't believe it!" Henry marveled, unable to give up his uninvited academic curiosity. "She has a spirit of nothingness!"
"Damn!" Alesia swore by. "Fireball!"
The erupting flames burned a large chunk of the creatures, but the power of the dripping creatures continued to grow.
Sofina's tendrils suddenly stretched out, piercing the things, but many of them stuck to her vines, draining her vitality and causing her to scream wildly. Elizabeth came prepared, and Henry's rare and unique character was dwarfed by that of his wife.
"Master!I'll take care of this! You must retreat at once and go back to the tower!!The merfolk are coming!" Alexia warned Henry in despair.
"You can't handle her!" Henry's voice was rough.
A large number of leech creatures were now pouring out of the doorway, too many for either of them to handle. If the Void spawns and causes damage to other mages or students, the damage will be immeasurable. Even so, Henry felt that the leeches were draining his mana. He could also sense Sofina's weakened source of life, which meant that he would soon return to his aging self.
The two of them continued their artillery fire, levitating on the ground, away from the maggot-like darkness that was threatening them.
"She's feeding Sofina," Henry cursed Alesia, giving me a wide area persistent AOE. Add fire to the yard!"
Alicia nodded affirmatively and began to chant for a long time.
A dark silver shot from a black orb, the hollow blade pierced the air with a screaming, bloodthirsty madness.
Alicia blocked the first pass, but the return shot easily penetrated her shield. If it weren't for Sofina's timely curling of the tendrils, the blade of the void would have hollowed her out long ago. Thankfully, the seasoned battlemage didn't let a little near-death experience distract her spells.
"Maximum Flame Explosion!"
A stream of flames poured down from the sky, and an open gate to the fire elemental plane blew a raging tornado into the courtyard, scorching the stones and igniting everything that was flammable in the distance. The grass immediately withered, and the water in the fountain evaporated so quickly that the stone sculpture exploded. The hot air from the spell blew into windows and doors, splitting the wood and igniting the wreckage.
In this raging fire, only Henry and Alicia were unscathed.
Queashing her teeth, Alicia channeled her mana, pouring everything she had into sustaining the spell and keeping its destructive energy alive. The surface of the sandstone is already filled with water, and as the silica on its exterior begins to melt and liquefy, pieces of material begin to peel off.
Inside, the dark creatures attached to Sofina were wiped out in an instant, wiped out by the purifying flames on the plane of fire. After the initial impact, the radius of the spell begins to decrease.
"Alesia!
A familiar cry rang out from the oblivion twin doors.
Alicia and Henry turned around and saw Gwen, Yue, and the rest of the team beside the stone pillar.
"Run, you little fools!" cried out to his youngest apprentice.
As if sensing Henry's alarm, a black blade erupted from the black oil film on Elizabeth's shield, and this time flew towards the students.
"Shield!" Amutu immediately created a multi-layered shield. As he experienced with Gwen's bolts, the blade of the blade was Vopal's, but had little penetration into the greenstone of his lattice structure. It bit through the first few layers with ease, but perhaps because it didn't expect a confessor to use it to destroy the magic, the blade stopped an inch from Vetu's nose.
"Lightning tentacles!"
Gwen skillfully cast the spell, just as Henry had taught her.
A cloud of blue-white tentacles emerged from the thin air and began to mercilessly slam Elizabeth's Void Shield, tearing through large chunks of black, shell-like cavitous matter.
"Dirt nails!" Deborah joined.
"Firestorm!" she cast her highest level spell, the fourth tier variant of her master's work.
"God forbid!" Elvia threw herself into her fate, doing everything she could, and every bit of damage counted as a group hand-to-hand fight. "Help!"
Alicia focused her magic center on Elizabeth. The whole building was heating up, cracking, and making ominous moans.
Henry turned his attention to Elizabeth. His students were naïve. In the face of Elizabeth-level spellcasters, a group of low-level mages could do little power.
"See you later, husband," Elizabeth's voice teased the mages. When she activated an unstable conveyor belt, it was dark. Henry erected a circle of tendrils to protect his students.
"Sofina!
Sofina's tendrils react much faster than their mortal eyes, searching for space above them in the open air.
"Black Rain!" Elizabeth's departure was not without a parting gift.
A stream of ink spewed into the courtyard, devouring the stones and flames with the same hunger.
"Wow!" shouted Gwen. The main building blocked the students' view, but Alexia and Henry remained open.
"On it!"
A semicircular punam formed on the heads of Alexia and Henry, and the ink-like dim light in Elizabeth's hands quickly faded. This wasn't enough to protect the two, but it gave them enough time to activate the dimensional gate and escape.
Sofina's tendrils form a web that prevents the remaining dark energy from reaching the swarm. Henry cautiously looked up and saw Elizabeth floating in mid-air, a ray of darkness enveloping her white body.
How could a woman activate so much void energy at once, and why wasn't she affected by the depletion of her life?
He watched as her lips moved, spelling her next spell.
The Gwen and the girls are still casting an unfortunate spell on their attackers.
"Oh,!" he realized what Elizabeth was going to play. It wasn't the spell he was expecting, as his wife had been defending and attacking them with high-level spells in the past few encounters. In his memory, Elizabeth should have been exhausted long ago.
Henry had an idea and slammed Sofina's tendrils to pull the students towards him.
"Maximizing the power cage!"
Offensive incarceration spells have another purpose than the intent for which they were designed. When using Defense, it can negate most of the effects of AOE spells. Just as Elizabeth's coup d'état was approaching, Heng used his hands to form a rectangular glyph and encased them all in his troop cages.
Sofina jumped back into her pocket. In the chaos of magical energy, Gwen saw the scales fall to the ground, half-buried in the rubble.
"Blade Barrier!"
The arc of darkness is made up of biblical black blades that emerge from the thin air and slam into the Force cage with the force of the thresher engine, leaving black streaks on its unseen panes.
"Master, are you alright?" both Gwen and Alicia turned to Henry, who turned pale.
Henry knew that the amount of energy stored within Gwen's range had reached its limit. When Sofina was weak, the vitality drawn from it cheered him on and gave him strength, even the life force stored within the scale of mythical magical creatures proved to be too much.
Henry looked at the blade barrier and its hollow energy like a Force cage whipping him. There is nothing they can do until the spell is over. Thankfully, Elizabeth couldn't do anything about them either. As an iconic variant, his cage is too sturdy to be destroyed by decomposition, and it is completely immune to dispel magic.
"Gwen, Alesia, thank you for your help. He rested his weather-beaten body on the shoulders of the two girls. When Henry spoke again, he was exhausted and out of breath. "We have to hurry to the tower. This is essential for the defense of the city. Where's Gunther?"
"He should be in the tower ......" Alexia replied I don't know why, but the divination jammer cut off all our long-range communications. ”
"Walken. "It took Henry a second to put on his face again, his eyes forming two thin slits I don't know what he's doing, but he has to control the tower's operating system. ”
"Can we teleport in?" asked Alexia, worried.
Henry nodded.
Around them, the blade barrier was descending. When the chaos of the Dark Blades finally ends, they are in a courtyard with a dilapidated cloister that is held together by little ingenuity of a century-old building. The garden either withered completely or was violently bulldozed and uprooted. The masonry carved out a deep ravine, like a mining machine rampage through an old stone factory.
"Detect magic. "Perceive evil. "Gwen doesn't want to hide her abilities in moments like these. His apprentice is the only soothsayer here, and she can continue to play dumb or useful.
"I think we got it clear, master. "She said I don't feel like there's any emptiness in our neighborhood. ”
The others turned to Gwen with questioning eyes.
"Gwen, she doesn't feel the power flickering around them. ”。 She fell to her knees and swiped her slender fingers across the pavement, sweeping aside the crushed and broken rubble until she found the scale. Thankfully, it's still intact. But its shimmering hues, however, are no more.
"Master, shall we go?"
Henry nodded feebly, no longer having the strength to speak.
"We went to the cathedral to find Ferris. She can use her innate divination abilities to open the door to the tower.
"Doesn't that put us in a more dangerous position?" asked Gwen, a little uneasy, doesn't this Walken now control the tower?
"Master?" Alexia turned to Henry.
Their master shook his head.
"Not when I'm alive. Walken may have entered the nucleus, but all the auxiliary hieroglyphs are still my slaves and those of all the surviving mages. ”
Since the girls had no strength, Vetus took it upon his back, and the girls lifted Henry onto the shoulders of the tall young man.
Henry said to the Maori youth, "If we survive, I must thank your master." ”。
"Don't worry, dear, Judge," Rittal teased, I'm here for you. ”
"Can we trust Ferris, master?" asked Alexia, uneasy.
"She'll make the right choice, don't worry," Henry assured her that I didn't know what Walken was doing, but our goal was to paralyze him and restrict his access. Not to mention, we now even need Ferris to enter the tower. ”
"Master, can we help in any way?" the father-in-law saluted sharply, sir, if it means saving the city, we will follow you everywhere. ”
Henry surveyed the students in front of him.
They will meet Ferris and her team, six mages, a dozen high-level mages, and a team of capable young mages like Gwen.
Is it enough to take Walken off the tower? If they play the right cards, they are likely to succeed.
Bawaa-Bawaa
Just as Sydney's headmaster was about to say something to cheer up the students, an alarm sounded across the campus. A long whistle swept across the school yard.
"!" Alexia gritted her teeth. "Here we are!"
"Master?" Gwen turned to the old wizard, but Henry barely realized.
"Defend the school kids...... Find Ferris...... "He spoke softly, breathing weakly, whispering in a voice that she wouldn't help...... If you don't protect the kids......"
Gwen and the gathered crew turned to the coast. There was a huge wave more than ten meters high approaching from the sea.
Gwen didn't know what it was, and neither did the girls. However, Alessia knows the scene inside and out.
"Damn!" she cursed. "I should have known that idiot wasn't going to just retreat. ”
"We're on without oars, hey?" said Vetu expertly pointing out the problem.
"What's that?" the others asked, a six-story wave crashing into their logic as it moved. They all had a clue, but none of them could have imagined that they would see such a thing within the protection of the city itself.
