Chapter Seventy-Seven: The Goblin in the Forest (I)
The next morning, Barrett finished a simple breakfast of boiled eggs and oatmeal, and followed Frank to the edge of the forest, where a large number of goblins were hidden.
He had a good night's rest, and at Wendy's request, he took a hot shower. Because Wendy said that he had a special smell on him, but it was not an ordinary smell of sweat. According to Wendy, it smells a bit like rabbits, and a bit like wild dogs, and if you smell it carefully, it seems to have some bacon flavor, in short, it's hard to describe. Luckily, it didn't smell good, but it wasn't bad.
Frank says it smells of killing, and swears that if a person kills enough lives, he will have that smell on his body.
Wendy doesn't believe this, though, believing that the 'smell of killing' shouldn't be something that can be washed clean with a hot bath, but Barritt can.
After taking a shower and drinking the hot tea that Wendy had brought him, Barrett slept peacefully on the bed with the scent of apricot blossoms. He couldn't remember how long it had been since he had slept like this, it was a complete relaxation that made him feel like he had been born again the next day.
......
The forest in front of you is a sparse oak forest with a small amount of laurel and ash in between. On the trunk of an oak tree closest to Barrett, there are still clusters of emerald green mistletoe, and a few small pale yellow flower bones dot the emerald green, which looks very cute.
"These fields are so close to the forest that no one wants to come here to farm. Frank sighed. "Someone has had their heads broken with a stone by a goblin here, someone has broken their leg while escaping, and someone has had their ribs broken with a stick when they resisted, but luckily no one was killed. ”
"Because those goblins don't sneak up. Barrett placed her hand on the hilt of the Iron Bride', habitually observing her surroundings. Not far away are a few overgrown and abandoned fields, scattered corn stalks standing withered in the fields, shriveled leaves gently swaying with the cold wind, like some undead crawling out of the soil beckoning to you.
"Yes, they don't sneak up and they don't surround their prey. Frank agreed, "The cubs are cowardly and greedy, stupid and impulsive, shouting and pushing each other every time they come out of the forest, hoping that the other goblins will be the first to rush forward." But because of this, the goblins did not cause more serious damage. ”
"They're in there?" Barrett looked deeper into the forest.
Frank nodded, "Hear from those Talen militiamen, there's a low nest of leaves, twigs, and rags in the depths of the forest. It's the goblins' den. They also said they had seen a guy much bigger than the other goblins commanding other goblins, and I guess it was a bear goblin. You know, bear goblins aren't easy to deal with, and I want you to be careful. ”
A bear goblin? Goblins are creatures that live in groups, but most of the time they do not form large colonies. Every time the number of goblins reaches a certain level, they will infighting, quarrel, and fight, after which some goblins will separate from their original colony and go elsewhere.
However, if a goblin community has a ruler like the Bear Goblins, the community will grow very quickly - although the goblins will not be less infighting, at least they will maintain a certain degree of unity, and those goblins will often be very obedient to the ruler, but they are not very good at their brains and do not listen to too complex orders.
Barrett took out a small round iron shield from the spatial ring, put it on the forearm of his right hand, pulled the 'Iron Bride' from his waist, waved it a few times, and then walked towards the forest.
"It can be done before noon. He said without looking back.
"Then I'll wait for your good news in the village. Frank shouted at Barritt, "Watch out for those birdcatchers and bear goblins!"
The Oak Forest is not very large, and the distance between each oak tree is sparser than the fir trees of the Misty Forest, but low bushes dominated by heather and wattle are everywhere.
The early morning sun shines through the treetops in the forest, and there is no fog, everything seems so clear. With Barrett's already good, reinforced sense, he could even see a bobcat hiding in the shadows waiting for its prey at a great distance, a green snake crawling towards a bird's nest to steal eggs, and a sparrow with a grasshopper in its mouth......
and, a squirrel crouching on an oak branch.
It was a chipmunk with five stripes on its back, and in its paws it was holding an acorn, a leftover grain from the winter. The chipmunk kept gnawing on the acorns with its tiny teeth, and it ate happily until a few pebbles flew under the tree interrupted its leisurely breakfast.
Two stones struck the trunk of a tree next to the chipmunk, and one flew off into the distance as it grazed its fur. The frightened chipmunk stuffed the acorn whole into its mouth, and the thorn burrowed into the branches of the oak tree and disappeared.
There was a faint chatter in the bushes under the trees, and then a few more pebbles flew out and scurried through the treetops, but they did not hit anything but a few leaves.
"Found you. Barrett whispered. He smiled and walked in the direction in which the stone had appeared.
After walking about seven or eight hundred meters, five little greenskins holding branches and stones in their hands came out of the bushes. The reason for the head-on is that Barrett has been watching them for a long time, and is constantly adjusting his path, which the goblins obviously do not have the ability to do.
They were startled by the sudden appearance of the large man in front of them, and several goblins stood there for a full three heartbeats before they suddenly came to their senses, pointed the branches and stones in their hands at Barrett, and said something loudly.
Barrett didn't understand goblin language, but he could guess the content of the voices from the terrified, fiercely fierce expressions of the little greenskins. It's nothing more than telling him to lay down his arms, or, take out what he eats, or else eat him or something.
If it's a goblin in the Misty Forest, or around Bay of Pigs, they will turn around and run away when they see a human, even if it's a child a few years old.
In fact, there are no goblins in the far distance around the Bay of Pigs, and those adventurers like to practice their hands with those little things when they are bored to hunt game. Some of the goblins that were killed were simply thrown away, while others were transported back to the Bay of Pigs, sold to a black-hearted butcher at a very low price, and then made into jerky to enter the mouths of some adventurers.
And these goblins in front of them are obviously used to a certain temper by the villagers of 'Corn Village', and instead of running, they seem to want to use their numerical advantage to rob Barrett.
One of the goblins held his head in his arms and thought for a moment, then pointed to the sword in Barrit's hand and uttered a strange lingua franca.
"Iron, throw!" said the clever goblin who could speak a little lingua franca, "don't throw, die!" it bared its teeth with a vicious expression.
"You want it?" Barrett asked, pointing to his saber and turning to the goblin.
The goblin's lingua franca was not well spoken, but it seemed to be quite understandable.
"Throw. The goblin repeated, and then the rest of the goblins also raised their "weapons" in their hands, shouting wildly.
Barrett shrugged his shoulders, "Okay, as you wish." ”
After saying that, the barbarian "obediently" threw the sword in his hand at the goblin, but the force was slightly greater. The Iron Bride blinked to the goblin with a great deal of kinetic energy, and the blade pierced its chest, pinning it to the ground.
The surrounding goblins were startled by the sudden attack, and they subconsciously turned around to run, but when they found that Barrett had no weapon in his hand, they jumped back to try.
One of the goblins threw the stone he was holding at Barrit, and the stone swayed in the air and struck Barrit, which he easily held in his hand.
Barrett tossed the stone up and down, and then "returned" the stone to the goblin who attacked him, and the stone and the goblin's forehead had a confrontation, and the forehead was defeated, and the goblin was dented, and the goblin fell down, leaving the red and white liquid on the ground.
The rest of the goblins were terrified, and they froze in place, at a loss, not knowing whether to attack or flee.
Barrett striezed towards them, and the goblins woke up and turned to run. Barrett pulled the 'Iron Bride' from the corpse of the smarter goblin, caught up with the slowest one in two steps, and the blade slashed from top to bottom, turning one goblin into two halves.
The bobcat in the shadows pounced on one of the two remaining goblins, crushing the goblin's neck, giving Barrett a faint look, and retreating into the shadows with the goblin in its mouth.
Barrett didn't kill the last one alive, but let it escape, following its footsteps.
