Chapter 153: Strategy
Zach stared silently at the undead entity, mentally ready for a desperate battle. However, the corpse owner suddenly became furious, and his bone weapon suddenly appeared in front of him. Almost at the same moment, Zach heard a loud bang coming from the wall. It was a voice that Zach remembered vividly, as he was nearly dead when he last heard it.
The Corpse Lord wasn't as crazy as Zach was when he returned to the auction house, and he didn't even sweat a drop of his weapon to block the bullets, which made Zach see his power clearly. Zach even had thoughts of running away, as he wasn't sure if he would be able to kill the entity.
The Corpse Lord chooses Zach as plans and stratagems flash through him. The undead sneered and retreated into the woods, followed by several hulking corpse puppets who stood behind their master like bodyguards. It seems that the undead boss is waiting for his moment, or that the sniper has scared him away.
"Damn, I think this is a noble man," Ogras whispered, frowning, as he watched the undead disappear into the leaves. "These things are extremely difficult to deal with. ”
Zach could only nod his head in thanks. The man, if he could call it that, stood silently at a distance, yet Zack's senses sensed danger. The two quickly gathered everything of value and then rushed back to the wall to rest.
"Who has your gun?" Zach asked suddenly, looking at Ogras, who was grinning slightly.
"That old bastard. "It seems that he has been in the Terran army for a long time and knows a little about guns," the demon replied.
Zach knew that the demon was talking about Sabzhuang, and he was impressed by the old fisherman's timing and purpose. It's a pity that the attack was unsuccessful, but it's worth a try.
The battle drained a considerable portion of Zach's energy, but it could have been so for the Rockmans. They plugged most of the bolts, while the Valkyries and demons continued to shoot for more than an hour until they finally ran out of ammo.
"Well done," Zach said to his squadron as he returned to the walls with Ogras.
This time they simply left the corpses on the battlefield because it was too dangerous to risk collecting them at this moment.
"I'm sorry we can't help much," Joanna replied with a somber expression.
"You've done a lot," Zach said, seeing the cheese leader walk toward him.
"Cheese is willing to join your next wave," Ibutepu said as he approached.
"Thank you. Still, you'd better conserve your powers until the undead arrive. "They have almost countless fighters, and at that moment they will be all hands on deck," Zach replied.
Zach commanded a few more words, and then he sat down and closed his eyes, holding a Nexus crystal in each hand. Only an hour later, they were again accosted by the rock workers. The other two forces are still showing no signs, and the increasingly real feeling is that they are actually using these rock people as pawns.
Even though he hadn't fully recovered yet, Zach groaned and stood up, ready to intercept as many boulders as he could. This time, more elite ranged demons also came down from the walls in order to attack closer to the walls.
However, even with an increase in numbers, their effectiveness is rather limited. Individual warriors or mages are not capable of breaking through the strong barriers set up by the Rockmen, so they are forced to use crossbow arrows to break through.
Zach knows that this will largely depend on his fight with OGras. There's also Alaya and Anos, but both Ogras and Zach feel it would be better if these two were hidden for the time being.
These two generals have skills that can turn the tide of battle, but they haven't been pushed to the point where they need to be used. Both Zach and Ogras can slowly fight their way through the Mega Man army without revealing their hidden trump cards, albeit exhausting.
The only good thing is that he gets a huge advantage from the battle. The rewards for every kill are substantial, and every rocker gives away thousands of Nexus coins. Although it took a while to kill them, the speed at which he collected cosmic energy was unmatched. If this continues, he is likely to reach a level in a single day.
At the same time, Zach knew that this could not continue. There were only two of them, and they started to get tired after two waves. If they allow the rock band to continue harassing their front line like this, he and Ogras will soon be exhausted. And these puppet-like creatures are the weakest of the group. Some drastic measures need to be taken.
"If that corpse owner dies, what will happen to the other undead?" Zach suddenly asked the demon next to him who was meditating.
The devil opened his eyes and glanced at Zach suspiciously.
"They're like rabies that have broken free," Ogras said. ”。 "Why? What are you planning?"
"We can't let this continue. Zach sighed, "It's simply not possible for the two of us to repel the entire Rockman invasion and then face two elite forces. ”。
"Are you going to jump into this abyss? Are you crazy? You're going to be in the sea of immortals. Even if you find him, there's no guarantee that he'll fight you.
"I have to believe that they are looking for their mission in my head. "I guess he's going to fight me and not risk some subordinate getting the honor of killing," Zach retorted with a shrug as he pulled out the piece of E-rank crystal he had left.
"You know, risking your life isn't the only option," Ogras said, glancing toward the teleportation array in the distance. "If you die, you won't be able to save your sister. ”
"You know how critical the situation on our planet is. There is only one-fifth of humanity left, and the invasion has not really begun to attack yet. This may be my best chance to gain power and stand firm for myself and my family. If we continue to escape, sooner or later we will be hunted down, because our enemies will only get stronger," Zach said with his eyes closed.
"You're thinking about all or nothing. Nothing can stop you from becoming a great power, even if you lose your nobility and town," Ogras said breathlessly.
"I know, but I still have to try. But have our contingency plans ready. If I mess up, we'll probably have to get out of the way. If possible, create some pastime. ”
"Alas...... Well, you damn lunatic. Let's see if we can shake the Zealots while you go to find the undead. If the High Priest joins the fight against you, then you can lie down and wait for death and resurrection," Ogras said, rolling his eyes.
"Do you have a plan?" Zach asked curiously.
"Well, it's time for my brave generals to earn their money," Ogras replied with a slight smile.
Restoring his energy reserves with E-rank crystals was quick, and he was basically restored after 30 minutes. This means that he is basically in full combat mode, as he retains the use of the knife in both waves of attacks, choosing to use mainly simpler attacks.
"I'm ready," Zach said, standing up.
"Wait, take this," Ogras said, tossing a necklace. "It's a little trinket that can cover your aura of life. It allows you to get closer to the zombies without letting them feel you. May help you take action against the big boss before he reacts. ”
"Thanks," Zach said with just one word, immediately putting it around his neck.
"Remember, the corpse lord nobles are insanely durable, they are like walking tanks. Don't waste your time using weaker attacks, go attack their brains. They can do without limbs, or even without a heart, but they still need brains. Wait another 15 minutes before attacking. We need to be ready. ”
"I understand, I'll do my best. "Good luck," Zach said as he looked at his watch, then jumped off the wall and walked towards the inner part of Port Atwood.
Just as he landed, he heard the muttering "Good luck" from above, and he immediately ran south. Zach was going to take a short detour, coming from the undead invasion on the other side. This will waste a few minutes, but hopefully it will help him in his ambush.
When he had gone far enough, he quickly climbed over the wall and slid like a hare into the woods. He immediately began to run at full speed, still without making a sound. It was the turf of his house, and with his tree knife, he almost blended in with the area, instinctively knowing where to put his feet and where to avoid.
He moved unerringly towards the undead invasion in a parabolic trajectory, but a few sounds interrupted his charge. He quickly stopped, deflecting a little towards the voice. Suddenly, he saw a man walking through the woods, carrying a struggling corpse.
At first, Zach thinks it's a demon because of its red and scaly skin, but he quickly realizes that it's some kind of lizardman, although it doesn't have a tail. Because it was neither an undead nor a puppet, Zach knew it must be a cult.
Zach also recognized the man he was carrying. Adlan should have returned to camp safely. His feet and legs were tied, and he had a large black eye. Apparently, the administrator didn't give up, as he kept struggling, tripping and swearing by the lizard.
Zach hadn't had time to figure out how the cult had infiltrated the town and kidnapped one of their leaders right under his nose, but he was quick to take action. He activated [Tramp] and appeared next to the lizard, which didn't even have time to exclaim, just before his decapitated head fell to the side.
"Are you alright?" Zach asked as he untied the knot in the rope that was gripping the demon.
"Thank God you found me. That bastard came out of nowhere. He hit me in the eye, tied me up, and then I was suddenly in the forest," Adelan said breathlessly. "I guess it's some kind of random teleportation, because this guy seems a little disoriented at first. ”
Zach frowned as he looked at the fallen cultist.
"Honestly, I found you by accident, and we didn't even know you were kidnapped. The town is over there," Zach said, pointing to the wall. There is no enemy between our enemies here and there. Try to gather everyone together so they don't sneak away with others. ”
"I will. Atzak hurried towards the port and said, "Thank you." ”。
Zach just kept going, and his unease about the situation only grew. He needs to hurry. Zach believes that a big part of the reason why the army is so hesitant to attack is that his cards are still largely hidden. But if the Church catches one of its citizens, they will soon learn that they have less than 150 real warriors and two power structures.
This knowledge might have given the legion enough courage to simply accuse his town. He needs to create chaos in the ranks of the undead before something like this happens.
He kept pushing forward for a few minutes until an incredible stench entered his nostrils. Zach frowned and slowed down, but continued on his way without hesitation.
As he advanced towards Zack, he noticed that the forest was disappearing and the trees seemed to just disappear from their original positions. Port Atwood hasn't cleared the forest that far away, so the system must have done it for the invasion.
He crept quietly to the edge of the woods, praying that the necklace Ogras had given him was effective enough, and stared at the invasion.
As soon as he looked at the field, he knew where the stench came from. The area around the invasion is full of decaying undead. Patches of skin drooped from their faces, and some lost limbs.
Zach found that they were almost all Asian, wearing ordinary clothes, such as suits or t-shirts, and although the skin was torn, he frowned. He had had doubts before, but that seemed to confirm it. It is likely that these invaders actually came from an invasion of his own world, rather than from other random forces in the multiverse.
He doesn't know if there are any hints of this, and he doesn't know if it will lead to trouble, but it's a problem and he has to save money for the future. He had so much to worry about right now.
Zach silently scouted the army, trying to find the man he had seen earlier. There was a sea of zombies in front of him, but from his terrible weapon and the fact that he didn't decay, it should be easy to make out the giant corpse lord.
But before he could find the leaders, his eyes were drawn to several huge boulders that were being carried with great difficulty by several Titanic's corpse puppets.
I think it's better than the demons who have been eating something delicious for a hundred years for change. Elia thought to herself as she watched the jubilant people go about their daily business. Feel safe behind the walls of a city that has been completely destroyed by the actions of a strong-willed old man. I don't know how old he is. Elija thought. She will soon be able to join the entrail sanctuary.
Of course, not everyone feels safe, and those who have witnessed the consequences of war or demonic invasions on their villages and cities at least know the need for capable warriors. Understandably, joining the Empire during the war is less popular than joining the City Guardian or Shadow Guard. It could be a member in their hands.
She walked around the waiting group, some of the conversation stopped as they looked at her, and they pulled each other by as she walked by. Live the life of a rock star. Elija thought. To her surprise, almost no one was angry at the Shadow's hand, which had essentially caused the demonic invasion. Either they didn't know they did it, or they were too scared to say it. Or they admit that their hands have been cleared. She knew that some squads were still there, purging demons from the forests far away from Ravenhall and crushing every monster that roamed the empire and beyond.
A few minutes later, she found herself in her usual training hall, with William waiting for her with a large load of work he had brought with him. Elija still didn't know what he was doing, except for assessing. Maybe the lines above are because she's actually taking up his time. Oh well. They can wait. After all, I'm here to drown.
