Chapter 158: Betrayal
As a sharp blade was relentlessly pushed into Zach's heart, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He had already gotten rid of the defensive charge on his equipment and had to desperately move his torso a little so as not to be stabbed in the heart. The blade still slid between his two ribs, and although he avoided a fatal injury, he was badly injured.
Cosmic energy began to gather, and all sorts of thoughts flashed through his mind. Did the demons finally take action on him?Did Ogras's injury make him desperate to take control?Or did Janos become a scoundrel like Namith?
Zach coughed up a mouthful of blood as he got up, but the screeching sound of the sniper rifle quickly caused him to fall to the ground again, and the wounds on his body only got worse. His eyesight was swimming, but he desperately looked around to see what was going on.
Genos stood in front of him, with a confused expression on his face, looking down at a large hole in his chest that was pouring a large amount of blood. Shortly after the demon fell. Zach quickly looked at the source of the voice and saw that Sabuzhuang was rushing towards him with a determined expression, a smoking sniper rifle in his hand.
Every breath was torture, but Zach forced himself to get up again, and soon pulled out a healing pill. This may not have been effective for the poison gas on his old wounds, but at least it helped his new wounds. He quickly swallowed it with trembling hands and pulled out the axe with an angry expression.
The riot caught the attention of demons and humans alike, and the scene of a dead Yanos and a heavily bleeding Zach caused widespread chaos. The Valkyries scrambled to keep their distance from the demon warriors, while the demons looked at each other in confusion, hesitating what to do.
It didn't take long for Alya to rush to Zach, but she was blocked by a large fractal edge.
"Stand back," Zach coughed coldly, blood still flowing from his mouth and injured lungs.
Sapp didn't hesitate either, but he aimed his reloaded gun at the Mistress Poison while carefully scouting the neighborhood. Alea looked surprised, but she immediately moved back a little, with some sadness in her eyes. Ogras himself remained suspiciously absent, and Zach could not find him either on the battlefield or in the defense forces.
A warm breath gathered in Zack's chest, and he took a few more breaths as the pill worked his magic. However, he didn't have time to really rest, as Anos's body swelled and a golden flame erupted in the hell next to him. Zach quickly grabbed the sap and flashed away with the help of [the homeless].
However, just as he reappeared in the distance again, another feeling of impending doom distracted him, and he quickly threw himself and the sap to the ground. A chill suddenly appeared in his legs, and he quickly looked down to see a black icicle on it. His entire leg was completely numbed by the frozen spikes, and he couldn't even pull it out because it had completely frozen his thigh area.
He groaned, stood up, and despite the pain in his leg, frantically swung the swing to stop a blizzard behind the big icicle. Zach looked around and finally found the source of the attack. It was the Mega Man leader who Ogras had earlier helped him escape.
It looks like he's trying to fish in the muddy waters, taking advantage of the fact that the other two leaders have died or left the island. However, while Zach is unaware of Arnos' betrayal, he is in much better shape now than the last time they met.
He had now absorbed quite a bit of energy from the crystal, and even his wounded chest could handle a brief fight.
Without hesitation, Zach pushes [the homeless] forward and appears in front of the surprised puppet leader, wielding an axe. However, the leader, an experienced fighter, came out of nowhere with a thick wall of black ice to intercept Zack's attack.
A powerful shockwave erupted from the impact, and Zach had to grit his teeth and let out a painful whimper. His swing carries a tremendous amount of power, and the shock wave only makes his wounds worse.
A loud bang echoed through the air, and a large rock was blown away, and blue blood was glowing on the ground. When Zack's swing destroyed the ice wall, it was Sapp Chong's shot that was timed perfectly. The leader managed to react quickly and avoid being blown open in the chest, but at least injured him. Thankfully, this boss didn't stop the bullets completely like the zombie lords did.
Mega Man roared, and the entire area suddenly began to tremble. Zach felt a new sense of danger as he saw the area freeze rapidly.
"Run!" he shouted as he activated his movement skills, deftly dodging an ice spear, followed by a real torrent of attacks flying in all directions.
Zack's shouts warn many people, but some sages, Valkyries, and demons are trapped by the great ice storm created by Mega Man. Even the demon warriors trapped inside quickly succumbed after struggling to resist the onslaught of the ice spears from above and the pottery stalactites from below. In just a few seconds, the entire area was transformed into a chaotic pile of icicles, ice walls, and jagged rocks.
Zach is forced to use his movement skills to keep moving while frantically swinging his axe to destroy the cannonballs that keep flying towards him. But there were hundreds of shells, and he could not destroy them all.
Luckily, the power of each bullet was limited, and with his endurance, they would only cause very shallow flesh wounds. However, whenever an icicle hit a new wound in his chest or a festering wound on his side, he almost collapsed from the pain.
It was at this time that Mega Man suddenly appeared behind Zack, giving him a strong sense of danger. He raised his axe to try to fend off whatever Mega Man had planned, but suddenly, several spikes appeared around the two of them and smashed into various parts of Mega Man without any mistake.
The leader howls in pain, and Zach takes the opportunity to quickly decapitate with a horizontal swing. A huge cosmic energy entered his body, but Zach didn't care about any of that at all. He quickly looked around and saw a terrible scene.
Aliya stood in the distance, covered in blood from head to toe. She was stabbed three times by frozen stalactites, and her whole body was severely injured by countless Xiaoice pillars spinning in the air. She has a strong physique to deal with poison, but not to the point where she ignores attacks like Zach does.
Their eyes met, and Alaya smiled slightly, then her eyes rolled up and she collapsed to the ground. Zach didn't hesitate, but immediately walked up to her with the homeless man and took her in his arms.
Since Mega Man's death, the ice storm has ended, but the massive ice walls and rock formations trapped on him still exist, forcing him through the labyrinth.
If he were alone, he might have broken through the obstacles, or jumped over them, but because of Aria's wounds, he didn't dare do anything so drastic.
As he ran, he suddenly heard a familiar and unforgiving voice.
[Mission accomplished.] Calculate the grade. Added 4 hours of contribution collection. The invasion ended after 30 minutes. Contribution storage remaining time: 24 hours. ]
This is the first time Zach has heard the sound of the system as he completes his mission. Usually only hints show his progress. He briefly wondered if there was some particular reason for this, but he didn't have time to think it through, because he had already left the ice field.
Zach finds himself right behind the battlefield. Most of the demons are still focused on stopping the zombies, but a small defensive line has also been set up, with a dozen demons standing on the edge of the ice field. Sapp stood beside them, looking agitated.
"Are you alright, young man?" as he came out from behind a protruding rock, Sapp shouted and ran towards Zack.
The old fisherman was still walking around with a sniper rifle, looking down vigilantly at Alaya in Zack's arms.
"You... He said hesitantly, as if he did not dare to continue.
Some demons were also watching him vigilantly, their eyes weaving between Zack's face and the unconscious and bleeding demon general in his arms.
"Don't look at me, look at zombies. Alea risked her life to save me, and thanks to her, the last enemy leader was dead," Zach said in a hoarse voice, carefully putting her down and giving her a healing pill.
The demons relaxed a little, and then they saw the pill that Zach had fed her. It comes from Raeder's Cosmic Sack and is a well-known top-tier pill among the demon factions.
"The mission is done, and the last leader is dead. You still have four hours to get as many contribution points as you can, but you don't get them anymore after that. You said to buy another copy from the store 20 hours ago. "The invasion will be over in 30 minutes. This means that Mega Man and the remaining fanatics are likely to run away. ”
He wasn't sure of the final statement, but he hadn't seen it since he had returned from the wall. The Rockmans, who had suffered heavy losses earlier, were also the closest to an undead invasion. Zach suspects this will be a problem because they should be busy.
He was more worried about the fanatics because, judging by what he had read about them, they didn't seem to be the kind of people who gave up in the face of death. Fanatical fanatics rarely take the most logical action. But they're also missing, which isn't bad for Zach because he needs to rest, and O'Gras is gone.
The demons were overjoyed to see the news and began to wrestle with the endless undead with renewed vigour. With the total closure of all three power plants, the war was essentially over. There are some strange things happening, such as the betrayal of the absence of Yanos and Ogras, but this will take at least four hours. Now is the time to reap some benefits.
Zach asked two demons without combat power to carry the unconscious Alaya away, sighed and sat down again.
"Thank you for your help today. You have made a huge contribution to the Port of Atwood. You don't need to stand guard and kill some zombies. They're going to give you a big experience boost," Zach said, looking up at the old fisherman with a rifle.
"Young people, everything may not be what it looks like to them. The flames of the silent demonic explosions? they are the same as all the lizard fanatics. When we fled back to the walls, I couldn't see Janos, he might have been replaced," said Mr. Chong, who hesitated for a moment.
Zach looked at the old fisherman in amazement, and he just shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know. Zach could only pray that what the old man said was true, but there was no way to confirm it yet.
Soon, Mr. Zhuang rushed away without saying a word, and loaded the rifle into a cosmic sack. Alone, Zach began to focus on recovery again, but this time he didn't dare close his eyes. Instead, he is vigilant about his surroundings as he distributes tree knives.
He was still mentally nervous during the battle with the Undead Lord, but he needed to do something to stabilize the wound on his side, even if his head was pounding. At least the Tree Knife doesn't seem to require much psychic power to circulate passively through the body, and the effect is obvious.
When Zach sat down, he opened his quest panel, and as he looked at his quest, a wave of relief hit him.
Invasion Master (Only) [Complete]: Shut down or conquer the invasion and protect the town from the inhabitants or other faction forces for 3 months. Rewards: Towns are upgraded to Global Cities and their status is upgraded to Lords according to the level restriction structure. The road to hegemony is open.
The exploration is really done. It was a task that he had been writing on his to-do list for almost five months, and finally completed it. Zach took a deep breath and looked up at the sky.
He did not derive any joy from his great achievements. Of course, he breathed a sigh of relief that he didn't have to continue battling the waves. But instead of being excited about the reward, he's excited about something else.
He could finally go to his sister without worry.
"Maybe it's a bit of both. She suggested and saw the building she was looking for in the distance.
"Maybe. He said that when they walked up to the golden Drake, the signage was broken in some places, many windows were destroyed, and a wall was completely gone.
"Is it Kindrek?" he asked. "It looks like it's owned by the Empire. ”
"Yes. Elija said and walked in, the door wide open, but her nose wasn't lying. She leads him into the kitchen, where she sees a group of people watching a lone dog at work.
"We're closed. Kayla shouted as Elija opened the door.
"I knew you couldn't help it. Elija smiled and walked towards the jar. "What's that?"
"Ah...... That's Lily. She was the owner of the house and he was?Kayla asked, and the cooks stood around the room nodding or bowing respectfully.
"William. We wanted to have breakfast. How's that going?"
"It's a northern seafood dish that tastes so good I don't recommend it for breakfast. Kayla explained as Elija picked up the spoon and tasted it.
"We're going to do it. How's the top floor?"
"Most of the tables and chairs were smashed to pieces, and some of the walls were missing. ”
"To the sun?" Elijah asked, taking two plates and handing them to William.
"Where is the sun?" Kayla asked, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Northwest. "One chef served.
"Yes, probably. ”
"Good. Elija laughed and said that before William did the same, she filled her plate and bowed to the chef when she was done. The stairs were broken, but Elija just blinked, still holding the plate in her hand. The man behind her focused on the ice before it began to form, effectively rebuilding the stairwell.
"That would be the destruction of the water, William. Elija sighed, grabbed a table, and dragged it towards an opening in the wall. The man took two chairs and handed them to her. "What a gentleman. She laughs.
"You are the master, what choice do I have. ”
