Session 35: Meditation Space
Norman's theological talent proved to be at the level of an ordinary person, a fact that he had to accept after three nights of hard work.
So Norman, after another failed attempt to communicate with the gods, pushed aside the book "Overview of the Gods" in front of him, stopped reading it for the time being, and got up from the table, came to the bedside and lay down, without taking off his clothes, and lay down on the bed in a large shape, allowing himself to sink into the soft bedding, and watching the shadows on the ceiling change with the beating of the beeswax candlelight.
It's so comfortable......
Even though he had been sleeping in this bed for several days, Norman couldn't help but indulge in this unprecedented comfort, and he longed to sleep in bed all the time, preferably even eating, that was really a comfortable aristocratic life.
And leisurely, his thoughts also fluttered, recalling the events of the past two days.
Since Norman became Franklin's student, Franklin's daily teaching content has naturally changed: Franklin would spend one morning teaching the previous day's content, and then the afternoon would become the students' self-study time, he would come to the living room from time to time to answer some of their questions, and most of the rest of the time he would teach Norman alone in the upstairs study.
Jurisprudence, or ancient language, was Franklin's primary instruction to Norman, and in three days he taught Norman a total of 600 ancient words.
Such a huge library of ancient words is enough to deal with the ancient words of the two-star black-robed mage, but being taught to deal with the entrance exam of the Cárdenas Church School is really a bit overkill, but Franklin can't help it- Norman's talent in literature and mathematics is very ordinary, and it is obviously impossible to have any teaching effect in such a short time, so these two subjects are equivalent to not getting points, and most of the answers in the theological exam are also written in lingua franca, and Norman obviously cannot get points, so Norman can only count on law if he wants to enter a church school.
Fortunately, the Cárdenas Church School, as a school specializing in the training of mages, is different from ordinary schools in that it focuses on theology and jurisprudence. In particular, the assessment score accounted for 70% of the total score, which is an astonishing proportion, which is why Franklin was confident that Norman was admitted to the church school even after directly losing three subjects: the law exam at Cárdenas Mission School was notoriously difficult, and in previous years, there were very few people who could get half of the score, which can be regarded as elite. If Norman can get all these points—in fact, with Norman's current pace and level of study, it won't be difficult to do so for just ten more days—then even if he doesn't get a point in the other three subjects, so what? Especially the old saying full marks......
This head is scary to think about, and it must be cultivated as an absolute backbone.
This was Franklin's plan as Norman knew.
There was no theology in this plan, so even if Norman had not made any progress in his psychic skills for three days, he did not feel discouraged now, on the contrary, he was still in good spirits.
Originally, Franklin had arranged everything for him, and a better tomorrow was waiting for him in the future, so what else did he have to worry about?
Probably because he had tried to sleep until midnight every day for the past two days, Norman lay on the bed not long after the 8 minutes had passed, and finally had to get up from the bed again, come back to the desk, and take a book and read it.
It was the book of Adrian's notes he had read earlier in Franklin's study.
In order to consolidate his knowledge of the ancient language, Franklin lent him the book that day for him to read when he was fine, and Norman did the same—this notebook was more interesting than the "Overview of the Gods".
Norman remembered that he had seen Adrian's teacher preparing to teach them magic yesterday, and with the help of rummaging through his memory, he found the place and looked at it.
"XXXX is already able to cast spells, and I still haven't been able to sign a contract with the gods. ”
When Adrian wrote this, his level of ancient language had improved significantly compared to the previous simple sentence structure, but after three days of surprise study, Norman's level of ancient language also improved by leaps and bounds, and he could keep up and understand.
"I can only try the way to enter the meditation space as the teacher said, but before I try it, I need to write it down and check it for ...... end."
Seeing this, Norman laughed.
When Franklin gave him this book, he once said that although the owner of this notebook had a good level of ancient language, it was not a strict mage's notebook, but more of a novel, the kind of bard that sang. Many of these things are obviously conjectured by the owner of the note, and they are not credible, so just take a look at it and learn the old language, and ignore the rest.
Here's an example of how to enter the meditation space, for example, which Franklin gave on purpose.
"After my experiments and that of a few mage friends, this method is completely random conjecture, without any factual basis, let alone the slightest possibility. It can also be inferred from this that many of the strange things in this notebook should be just like this method, and they were conceived by the owner of this notebook. It's easy to understand that on the path of learning spells, there are many mages who can't stick to it and end up losing themselves......"
Norman shook his head.
However, he was reading this notebook for the purpose of relaxing his mind and helping him fall asleep, so he did not jump, but read it with great interest according to the method written by the owner of the notebook, Adrian.
"First of all, we have to determine the location of the meditation space, which the teacher said is the place where the small thumb joint is straight up and three little fingers are straight inward up the coccyx of the head......"
Blowing like the real thing.
As Franklin said, no one knows where the meditation space is, it may be in our minds, it may be in our necks, it may be in our chests, it may even be in our stomachs, no one can say. Norman believed in Franklin much more than this unknown guy who didn't even have a surname.
He kept looking.
"Without the guidance of divine power, you can only rely on your own spiritual power to forcibly open the meditation space, and the specific method is to concentrate on ......"
Norman read it little by little, and it wasn't until his brain hurt that he realized that he had unconsciously followed the method written in the notebook.
But what surprised him wasn't that he unconsciously followed the method written in the notebook, but that he felt that somewhere in his mind was suddenly empty!
If you sense the position, it seems to be the place where the small thumb knuckles are straight up and the three little thumbs are straight in......
A meditation space?
Norman was stunned.
He never thought that he would be suspicious of opening his meditation space after just a daze? But didn't Franklin say that he had to sign a contract with the gods to find and enter the meditation space? He also said that he had already experimented with other mages, and this method would not work, but why did he succeed? Or was this thing not a meditation space, but just a simple empty piece of his mind?...... It can be seen that why the ghost suddenly has a piece of something missing in his brain for no reason......
Norman's mind swirled around a thousand times, and finally, he put away his chaotic thoughts and looked at the notes spread out in front of him, which were recording the steps to enter the meditation space.
You don't lose if you try, why don't you just try?
If you decide, you will do it.
Norman closed his eyes, followed the method written in his notebook, and threw all his thoughts into the empty space.
