What supports being readable?

The answer is – suspense.

For suspense, the suspense is "what happens next?"

For the detective, the suspense is, "Who's the murderer, and how did he do it?"

For YY of the escalation stream, the suspense is......

What? No need for suspense? Big mistake!

The suspense of the escalation stream, according to the degree, I divided it into three levels.

Instead of Freud's pretending to be 13 "id, ego, superego", use "basic, intermediate, advanced" to divide.

Basic suspense – how to survive.

Intermediate suspense - how to make money, how to level up, how to play treasure.

Advanced suspense - how to step on people, how to pretend to be 13, how to pick up girls.

Usually, the higher the level of suspense, the more engaging it is and the greater the pleasure it brings to the reader.

Of course, this is not absolute, because suspense, like the word itself, has a lot to do with writing, the ability to make up stories, and the ability to write stories. A strong writer can write a small suspense that is exciting, and a weak author can also write a big suspense like chewing wax.

But generally speaking, the basic suspense touches on our curiosity, the intermediate suspense touches on our vanity, and the high-level suspense touches on our desires.

Next, according to the level of suspense, aside from the names of "first-level, second-level, third-order, first-order, second-order, third-order, Dou Saint Dou Huang Douzun", we can divide the level of the upgrade text into -

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

That is

Beginner characters - basic suspense.

Intermediate characters – intermediate suspense.

Senior Characters – Premium Suspense.

To put it simply-

The primary character, the author needs to focus on writing and ink, and the reader is most concerned about how he survives.

For the intermediate character, the author needs to write in pen and ink, and what the reader is most concerned about is how he is upgraded.

The high-level character, which the author needs to write emphatically, and which is also the reader's greatest concern, is how he pretends to be 13.

The above is just the definition, and here is my explanation.

The junior character is also the most difficult character stage to write. Few authors can write the characters at this stage well, although a large number of upgraded protagonists are "waste wood" and "garbage", but there are very few "protagonists" who can really make people feel immortal in a book, and they need to work hard for survival. At the same time, because this stage looks the least "cool", many people skip this stage, especially for online articles, only a small number of famous gods dare to write at the beginning that the protagonist is still at this stage. Of course, there is no need to blame anything, even Jin Yong, looking at his starting point from his debut to the protagonist in the pen book, it is clear at a glance.

Intermediate characters, most of the protagonists are in the stage, although it is common, but there are not many that can be written well, as for the reasons will be mentioned later.

High-level characters, some urban outfits 13 streams will enter this stage at the beginning, but the layering of each stage is obvious, high-level characters can no longer use low-level suspense, so the suspense that senior characters can choose is the least, although it can bring people the most direct pleasure, but it requires the author to spend more time on the plot and suspense conception, most of this kind of text has turned into a cycle of continuing to upgrade + infinite upgrade + promotion without promotion, a small number of such book eunuchs.

Let's talk about the most common mistakes that novice authors make in this regard -

The location of the protagonist is unknown.

A large number of them set the protagonist as a junior character in the initial setting, similar to the "small villager", "waste wood" and "garbage" in "The Weak Eat the Strong, the Strong Respect the World" or "Intrigue Family". But the results are not ideal, for the simple reason that the pen power is not up to it. It is very difficult to write a protagonist as a "little person" who needs to struggle to survive in the world, not to mention that in the environment of online articles, if it is not a great god, such a little person is not popular with the author.

Many novice authors have problems here, they only set up the hierarchical concept of "first, second, third, and third", but they haven't thought about which level their protagonist is at in the world, so they naturally choose the suspense that is not suitable for this level.

Then some authors will say: I have a position for the protagonist, he is an intermediate character, growing and upgrading in this world.

So good, since you have a positioning, you have to choose the suspense that is suitable for the level of the character.

The most important question is - what kind of characters and what kind of suspense are needed to make people want to read on?

The answer is - the suspense of the same level as the person of this level.

This is not nonsense, this is the basis for my classification of the above three levels, which is where the argument of this article lies.

Choosing a suspense that is lower than the character is one of the common mistakes:

For example, in some books, everyone knows that the protagonist can't die, but the author spends a lot of time writing about the protagonist fighting with beasts. Or you know that the protagonist can't die, so you have to write about the underworld to trouble the protagonist. (Intermediate characters write low-level suspense)

For example, in some books, the protagonist obviously can't hold a lot of treasures, but every time he kills a minion, he has to ramble on upgrades and treasures. Or the protagonist is obviously too strong to be strong, but he always has to write about how he breaks through his practice, and how much his ability has increased. Or in some books, the protagonist is obviously already a rich son, but he still has to write about how much he makes from gambling here and how much he makes from racing over there...... (Senior characters write intermediate suspense)

This kind of plot will no longer make people get pleasure, it will only make people feel pretentious.

On the other hand, another mistake is to choose a suspense that is more advanced than the characters:

Of course, unlike writing suspense that is lower than the characters (never), it is okay to write suspense beyond the characters, but you must distinguish between priorities and priorities.

For example, some books are obviously low-level characters, and they keep emphasizing the need to struggle to survive, and as a result, good luck and treasures are continuous. or a broken little beggar and a little tramp, all of them have a lot of beautiful encounters, and all of them are the daughters of rich people and the daughters of the family. (Low-level characters write middle and high-level suspense)

Another example is that the protagonist has just begun to upgrade and improve, and he has begun to load 13 fishing horses around. (Intermediate characters write advanced suspense)

These can be written, but it must be clear that the suspense of the same level is the main thing, and the high-level suspense is the condiment for the secondary provocative people to continue to look down, if you put too much, it will only make people feel sick to their stomachs, feel, and give up.

To sum up, the most important thing in a good upgrade stream is the positioning of the protagonist. This kind of positioning is not just something that the author just says, but looks at the effect of writing it and what the reader sees.

If you can't tell exactly where the protagonist comes from, you can refer to this example:

Relying on the sky and slaying the dragon, Zhang Wuji fell off the cliff and learned the Jiuyang Divine Skill, he was a "nobody", a person who was at the mercy of others and did not have any ability to resist, this is the primary level; before learning the Jiuyang Divine Skill and becoming the leader of the Ming Sect, he was "somebody", and he already had a certain status and status, but he was still only one of the "everyone", which was intermediate; finally, after the Battle of Guangming Peak, Zhang Wuji became the leader of the Ming Sect and learned the Great Shift of the Qiankun and the Holy Fire Order Martial Arts, and he was no longer upgraded, this is advanced.

At the same time, there have been many discussions about the secret, or essence, of the upgrade stream. For example, Jin Yong, or some great gods, why are their books good. Some people say that they always let the protagonist face opponents who are only a little stronger than themselves, and always let the protagonist see the hope of leveling up, and some people say that because their plot is well designed, they don't upgrade for the sake of leveling.

In fact, the combination of these two points is what I said:

When the protagonist's level is low, the suspense and main conflict of the plot are reflected in "how to survive", which makes people want to know "whether the protagonist can survive and how the protagonist can survive" after reading it.

After the protagonist's level comes up, the suspense of the plot should be mainly focused on "how to level up", so that people want to know "whether the protagonist can beat xxx and how the protagonist has beaten xxx".

After the protagonist's level reaches a certain height, the suspense of the plot should mainly focus on "how to pretend to be 13", so that people want to know "how the protagonist steps on this sb, how does the protagonist put this girl".

As for whether the suspense can be engaging, as I said before, it is a matter of the author's writing, ability to write stories and ability to make up stories.

Continue to give the example of Heaven and Dragon Slayer: when he was in the first level, he was seriously injured, he was bullied and played with everywhere, and finally he fell off the cliff, all of which were nine deaths; in the intermediate level, he was changed to repeatedly encounter strong enemies, and every time he fought, he was promoted to a level of Qiankun Great Shift, Holy Fire Order, and Tai Chi......

In this way, it is clear at a glance.

Another: There is a way to use multiple suspense at the same time at the same level and at the same time, which is to open multiple maps. But beyond the scope of this article, the method is much the same, just take the maps apart and consider them.
