Chapter Thirty-Nine: The Beating Willow with a Lying Gun
By the time we arrived at Hogwarts, night had already covered the castle, and the castle's lights shone brightly on the surface of the Black Lake.
After Kevin and Terry, Mike, and Luna get off the bus, Luna is called to Hagrid, who is waiting at the station, and Hagrid leads the freshmen on the same path that all freshmen have taken.
Kevin, the second-year students, were led by the prefects of the various houses to the path behind the station, where a dozen wagons were parked. Each carriage was pulled by a Thestrals, a creature recorded in the Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures. Kevin's group of four approached a carriage, and Kevin deliberately stepped forward to observe the magical creature.
The body is long and slender, gray and black, somewhat similar to that of a horse, but the whole body is skinny and bone-like, with a head like a dragon's head and a pair of bat-like wings.
Terry Chao, who got into the carriage, greeted Kevin, "Kevin, get on the bus!"
"It's coming!" Kevin turned and got into the car.
The carriage began to make its way towards Hogwarts.
"What were you just looking at?" Mike asked.
"Nothing, watching Thestrals pulling the carriage!" replied Kevin.
"You mean the Thestrals?" Terry asked,
"Hmm!"
"Oh...... I mean, Thestrals...... well," Terry was a little hesitant, "Thestrals are a little unlucky! I've heard that only those who have suffered misfortune can see them!"
"Unfortunately......" Kevin was a little distracted, yes! Unfortunately, how happy he could be under that catastrophe. I can still be reincarnated, but what about those partners who fight together? But the greatest happiness is that I can be reborn in this world, isn't it? At least I can live a good life, and I have gained family affection and friendship.
Kevin, who came to his senses, saw Terry and Mike looking at him with pity. Kevin was speechless, and he lost his mind for a while, what did they make up in their brains?
"What do you think? The sight of Thestrals means that the man had witnessed death. What misfortune!" he explained, "When I was a child, I saw people in car accidents, so I could see Thestrals!"
Terry and Mike nodded in realization.
Kevin could only lie, it was impossible to tell the catastrophe of the Elemental Continent, that was his biggest secret.
"I can see that too!" said Luna, who had been silent since she got into the car. Then he explained to himself, "When I was a kid, I saw my mom doing experiments and then being blown up by magic!"
It was pitiful, but Luna's ethereal tone didn't feel it at all.
"Sorry to hear that!" Kevin politely comforted, and Terry and Mike nodded at Luna.
Then Luna was silent again, and Kevin, Terry, and Mike had to talk about other things.
The wheels gurgled and turned, and Thestrals, invisible to most of the students, pulled the carriages towards Hogwarts.
It's still the same auditorium, it's still the same taste. Dumbledore gave a speech after the sorting ceremony, but he was not allowed to go to the fourth floor.
Luna was assigned to Ravenclaw, and sat next to Kevin and was separated by a Robert.
"This semester, Hogwarts will have a new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, Professor Gilderoy Lockhart!" Dumbledore's loud voice echoed through the Great Hall.
There was a round of applause in the auditorium, and most of the boys just clapped their hands politely, and the applause came from between the girls' hands.
To the applause, the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor stood up and waved to everyone with his trademark smile, just as Kevin had met him in the bookstore.
After the applause, the feast began. Kevin then withdrew his attention from the teacher's seat on the high platform. After welcoming the new students, Robert started talking to Kevin. Talking about summer vacation, chatting about interesting things. Then it came to the newcomer, Professor Lockhart.
"My dad said he was just a stupid guy who was a fool of fame, but he was from Ravenclaw after all, and my mom loved him. ”
"Is he from Ravenclaw?" said Kevin, who knew that Professor Lockhart was his senior. However, this senior. Kevin had sensed his magic, it was just the magic of an ordinary adult wizard, maybe he was superior in something.
"Yes, no matter what, I wish he not to be brought down by the curse of this position. Robert said this.
Kevin ate, his eyes habitually glanced at the Gryffindor table, and saw Hermione, but there was no one missing. Kevin scanned the Gryffindor table back and forth, missing Harry and Jon. Logically speaking, the opening banquet is not allowed to be absent, what happened.
Suddenly, Professor Snape pushed open the door of the auditorium and walked to the high pedestal, the corners of his robe flying.
Professor Snape walked up to Professor McGonagall and whispered something in her ear.
Kevin didn't mean to eavesdrop, but his instincts told him that Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall had something to do with Harry and Jon.
Kevin listened intently to the other side, in addition to the other professors' conversations, "Harry Potter and his little friend Jon Weasley drove a car and crashed into the ...... of the beater"
Professor McGonagall's face changed as soon as she heard this, and she immediately left the table and walked out of the auditorium. Professor Snape went to Dumbledore's side again and spoke to Professor Dumbledore.
Kevin wasn't worried when he heard this. It's good that the two of them are fine, and if they have an accident, who hasn't had trouble when they were young! Coupled with the fact that Hogwarts will not expel students easily, and Professor Dumbledore is a strong supporter of Gryffindor, it is basically certain that Harry and Jon will be fine.
Not long after the feast, not long after returning to the dormitory, Kevin heard about the heroic deeds of Harry Potter that were circulating among the students. Kevin prayed inwardly, not for Harry and June, but for the beating willow that fell from the sky.
I heard that this beating willow is quite old, it is an ancient tree, and it is a rare species.
May magic bless this lying spear-beating willow.
