Chapter 164: Alive
The blood stains on Rodlis's red robe were clearly visible, but his injuries didn't seem too serious - at least he was still able to stand up. But can he walk? Looks like he's going to have to help Stone.
He wondered where the others had gone, and in this dazzling light, he couldn't see them at all. Suddenly, Calamon appeared beside him, his armor glistening in the blue flames.
Rodrith grabbed his hand, "Help me find the magic book!" he struggled.
"Who cares so much now?" Calamon shouted, reaching out to grab his brother. "I'll get you out safely!"
Rodrith's lips were distorted with rage, and he couldn't even speak. He fell to his knees and rummaged frantically through the pile of treasures. Calamon tried to pull him away, but Rodrith pushed him away with his thin hand.
The piercing buzz continued. Stone felt tears welling up in his eyes from the pain. Suddenly, something fell in front of the knight with a thud. The roof of the hall is starting to crumble!
The entire building shook around them, and as soon as the humming stopped, he could distinctly hear the roof collapsing and the massive stone slabs crashing against the ground.
Then Robert came out of the loud noise and dust, and the wound on his cheek covered his face with blood.
Stone grabbed his friend and held him up, dodging a large boulder that smashed beside him.
"The whole city is falling apart. Stone shouted. "How are we going to get out?"
Robert shook his head. "I knew the only way back was the one I came from, the tunnel. He shouted, bending over the boulder that had fallen from the altar beside him.
"There must be no way to go there now! There must be another way!"
"We'll find out. Robert said firmly, looking at the dust. "What about the others?" he asked. Then he turned around and saw Rodrith and Calamon. Robert watched the mage desperately rummage through the pile of treasure and felt sick to his stomach.
Then he saw a little guy grabbing Rodlis's sleeve. Flutter! Robert lunged at her with a lunge, almost terrifying the dwarf of the valley, and she screamed and ducked behind Rodrith's back.
"We need to find our way out!" roberted out. He grabbed the mage's robe and pulled the emaciated young man to his feet. "Don't loot these treasures anymore, tell your dwarves of the valley to take us out of here, or do me a favor and let me kill you with my own hands!"
As Robert threw him hard against the altar, Rodrith's two thin lips smiled ghostly. Plop screamed. "Come, let's go, I know the way!"
"Little brother," Callamon pleaded, "you can't find it! if we can't escape, you'll die!"
"Good!" the mage shouted. He took the staff of Mazis and reached out to his brother. "Pounce, lead the way. He commanded.
"Rodrith, light your staff so we can follow you. Robert ordered. "I'm going to find someone else. ”
"Over there," Callamon said with a solemn expression. "Once you've found the Plainsman, you'll have to have someone help you. ”
When another boulder fell, Robert covered his head with his hands and jumped over the rubble on the ground. He saw River Wind fall where Scarlet Moon had been standing, and Hubble and Wade tried to lift him up. There was nothing on the ground, only a charred floor. The Crimson Moon may have been completely burned by fire.
"Is he still alive?" called Robert.
"Yes!" Wade replied, his shrill voice drowning out the noise around him. But he was reluctant to leave. ”
"I'll convince him," Robert said. "Follow the others. I'll be right back, let's go!"
Wade hesitated, but Hubble saw Robert's face and immediately grabbed the Kander's arm. Wade was pushed and ran with the dwarf through the rubble in front of him.
Robert knelt beside River Breeze, and he looked up just in time to see the knight emerge from the dust. "Let's go. Robert said. "I've put them in your charge. ”
Stone hesitated for a moment, and a pillar fell beside them, leaving them covered in dust. Robert shielded the river breeze with his body. "Let's go," he shouted to Stone. "I'll take full responsibility for you!" Stone took a deep breath and patted Robert on the shoulder comfortingly, before running in the direction of Rodlis.
The knight noticed the others huddled together, huddled in the hallway. The vaulted ceiling above them seemed to hold up, but the sound of the crash could be heard on the ceiling. The floor shook beneath their feet. Tiny streams of water began to seep through the cracks in the walls.
"What about Robert?" asked Calamon.
"He'll be over soon," Stone hissed. "We wait...... Wait at least a few minutes. He didn't mention that he would wait until all hope was lost.
Suddenly, there was a cracking sound of the wall, and water began to emerge from the wall and flow to the ground. Stone was about to lead everyone to retreat when a figure appeared from the dust. It was the river wind, carrying Robert's limp body on his shoulders.
"What's going on?" Ston jumped forward, choking in his throat. "He didn't—"
"He insisted on staying with me," River Breeze whispered. "I told him to leave me alone. I don't want to live – I want to live and die with her. Then a big boulder. He didn't see it at all—"
"I can hold him. Calamon said.
"No!" the river breeze glared at the stout warrior. He hugged Robert's body tighter. "I'll hold him and go!"
"Yes, this way, let's go!" said the valley dwarf nervously. She led the group through the city that had once again been in ruins. They walked out of the dragon's lair and stepped onto the square, and the water kept pouring up from the new sea. Holding hands, everyone waded through the water, barely crossing the rushing rapids.
The dwarves of the valley ran around screaming and bewildered, some swept away by the flood, others climbing to the higher rooftops and not knowing what to do. Others are running aimlessly on the streets.
Stone just wanted a way out. "Go east!" he shouted, pointing to the street that led to the waterfall. He watched the river breeze nervously, the plainlanders visibly stunned by the changes around him, and Robert was still unconscious—and possibly even dead.
Fear began to creep up in Stone's mind, but he desperately suppressed all his feelings. The knight ran forward and caught up with the twins who were taking the lead.
"Our only hope is an elevator!" he shouted.
Calamon nodded slowly. "It means there's going to be a big fight. ”
"Damn, that's right. Stone said in despair, thinking of the image of all the dragonmen in a hurry to leave the city. "There's going to be a big fight! Do you have a better idea?"
Calamon shook his head.
Standing in the corner, Stone led the exhausted team in the right direction. In the dust and fog, he could see the elevator right in front of him. Just as he expected, he was surrounded by a group of black and oppressive dragonmen.
Luckily, they were all on the run. Stone knew they would have to attack quickly, unprepared for them. The time has to be accurate. When Wade ran in front of him, he grabbed him hard.
"Wade. He shouted. "We're going to take the elevator road!"
Wade nodded to show that he understood, then grimaced as a dragonman and ran his hand around his neck.
"As we get closer," Stone shouted. "Sneak up to the place where you can see under the pot. When it starts to come down, give me a signal. When it reaches the ground, we'll attack immediately. ”
Wade nodded.
"Tell Hubble. Stone finally finished speaking, his voice so hoarse that he could barely speak again, and Wade nodded again and ran quickly to find the dwarf. Stone sighed and straightened up his aching back and continued walking. He could see twenty to twenty-five dragonmen in front of him, anxiously waiting for the pot that could lead them out of the ascension to slowly descend.
Stone can imagine the chaos above—the dragonmen whipping the panicked dwarves of the valley, forcing them to jump into the pot. He hoped that the chaos would last a little longer.
Stone saw the twin brothers cowering in the shadows of the courtyard. He joined them, looking up nervously, the slate on his head smashing behind them. River Wind staggered through the fog and smoke, and Stone tried to help him, but the Plainsman looked at the knight with strange eyes.
"Carry Robert here," said Stone, "and you can put him down and rest for a while." We have to climb the elevator, and we may have to fight a bloody path with both hands. Wait here, while we gesticulate—"
"Do what you have to do," River Breeze interrupted him coldly. He gently placed Robert's body on the ground and collapsed beside him, burying his face in his hands.
Stone hesitated. He began to crouch down next to Robert, but Hubble came over and stood beside him.
"Hurry up, I'll watch him. The dwarf said kindly.
Stone nodded gratefully. He saw Wade slip across the street and into a porch, and he looked in the direction of the elevator, where the dragons cursed loudly at the mist, as if that would speed up the pot's descent.
Hubble poked Stone, "How are we going to deal with so many enemies?"
"Not us. You'll have to stay with Robert and River Breeze. Stone said. "Calamon and I can deal with them. He added, hoping that he would believe them too.
"And me. The mage said hoarsely. "I still remember my spells. The knight did not answer. He didn't believe in spells, and he didn't believe in Rodlis. But he didn't have any choice - Calamon was not willing to fight without his brother by his side.
Stone touched his beard and unsheathed his sword. Karamon began to stretch and relax his arms. Rodrith closed his eyes and focused on his mind. Flutter ducked against a nearby wall, looking at everything with wide eyes and fear.
The pot emerges from the mist, and the valley dwarf hangs from the pot. Just as Stone had predicted, the dragons on the ground began to fight each other. No one wants to stay here. As cracks in the ground began to approach them along the sidewalk, the dragons grew more and more panicked. The water poured out of the crevices, and soon Shako Sharos was lying at the bottom of the new sea.
When the pot finally reached the ground, the dwarves of the valley fled in panic. The dragons scrambled to climb in, pushing and thrashing each other.
"Now. The knight shouted.
"Don't stand in my way. The mage hissed. Taking out a handful of sand from a pocket, he threw it to the ground, whispering "Zisharak Sinuralank is coming" and drawing an arc with his right hand in the direction of the dragonman.
At first there was one, then a few more, and the dragonmen began to blink, lying on the ground and falling asleep, but the other dragonmen still looked around alertly.
The mage quickly retreated into the shadows by the door, and the dragons saw nothing, and turned and continued to scramble into the pot, mercilessly stepping on their sleeping companion. Rodrith leaned against the wall, his eyes closed tiredly.
"How many are there?" he asked.
"Only six poured. Calamon drew his sword from its scabbard.
"Just crawl into that damn pot!" shouted Stone. "We'll come back to pick up Robert after the fight. ”
Under the cover of the thick fog, two warriors—swords in their hands—quickly approached the drakemen. Rodrith stumbled after him, Stone yelled for kill, and the dragons turned in alarm.
River Wind raised his head at this time.
The sound of killing pierced the fog of despair in River Wind's heart. The Plainsman saw Scarlet Moon standing in front of him, engulfed alive by the blue flames. The lifeless expression on his face was replaced by anger, the most primitive anger full of bestiality, which made Pun, who was already close to the door, scream and hide inside the door.
River Wind jumped up with a roar, and he didn't even draw his sword, and rushed forward empty-handed. He rushed into the panicked drake formation and began to kill like a hungry leopard.
He fought with his bare hands, strangled his neck, broke his trachea, and broke his skull. The dragons kept stabbing him with their swords, and soon his leather pants were soaked with blood. But he didn't hesitate even a hundredth of a second, and he didn't stop killing in the slightest.
He looked like a complete madman, and the dragonmen facing the river wind saw death in his eyes, and they also saw that weapons were of no use to him. One turned and fled, and soon, the other did.
Stone had just finished off an enemy, and he looked up solemnly, expecting to see six more enemies pounce. But all he saw was the frantic flight of the enemies, and the river wind fell to the ground covered in blood.
"Elevator!" the mage pointed. It hung two feet above the ground and began to rise, the pot above it filled with valley dwarves.
"Stop it!" stone shouted. Wade, running out of his hiding place, jumped to grab the edge of the pot. He clung to it, his little feet kicking wildly, desperately trying to stop it from rising. "Calamon grab the pot!" Stone ordered the warriors. "I'm going to pick up Robert!"
"I can hold on to it, but it won't last. The big man grunted and grabbed the edge of the pot, and stood firmly on his feet. He forced the pot to a stop, and Wade climbed in, hoping that his weight would help a little.
Stone sped towards Robert. Hubble stood beside the half-elf, axe in hand.
"He's alive. The dwarf shouted as the knight approached. [.]
